We used to stay at the hotel on the flight to the US a while ago, to me there’s nothing special about the hotel.One thing I always remember the taxi driver cheated us, we gave the correct amount but the way he counted the currency was tricky, he place the first currency on the other hand then started counted, of course it will miss one piece, since it was dark we didn’t realized that until we had been told by other guest. Be careful when you pay the taxi in Taipei.

Don't forget that Miss Kung was well-educated, refined-mannered and knowledgeable; she knew Chinese medicines as well as a professional Chinese doctor, and her judgment of interior and exterior designs was not only unbiased but invaluable. I did admire such remarkable abilities of hers even though I was more than a bit scared of her. She was always wearing pitch-black sunglasses and standing still quietly for 20 or 30 minutes at an inner part of the big lobby of the Grand Hotel. No one knew what she was looking at or thinking of with her dark glasses on. Once, when I was standing in an inner part of the lobby of the Grand, waiting for a friend. When I turned my back and was so shocked to see what scared me most. Her! She was right behind me, I hurried away like I saw a ghost - not that she was not good-looking but that I was simply scared of her. Reason: Once after inspecting the interior of the lobby of the Grand from every perspective, close and far following a renovation and re-decoration, she came to the conclusion that those red round and tall pillars at the lobby were not impressive enough. She immediately ordered the contractor that they be expanded in size to an extent she specified. The contractor fully complied. She was totally satisfied. The contractor asked: "Madame, the extra costs are ..... million NT dollars." "What? The huge and generous amount of budget was fully paid on time under our contract. We have no additional budget for the project anymore!" The contractor sustained the loss painfully!
