Very helpful video. I just bought a Me:Go NEV and will have it in about 3 weeks. I bought the monster to do just what you’re doing; off road. I went with the Me:Go because it has a 726 lb. weight capacity. Yours is 350 and I’m 400 and 6’2”. It’ll do 19.8 MPH, or 32 KM. It flies. And has a 50 mile max distance fully charged and handle a 30 degree slope. It’s expensive, $7K plus $850. for the truck hitch carrier, but will take me wherever I want to go and most importantly, it will get me home too.. I’m a wildlife photographer and haven’t been able to get out there for the past 5 years since getting ill. But now, I’ll be back at it again! All the best and many happy and safe trails to you!

Also, I’m thinking of starting an off road group for scooter folks in my area. South S. F. Bay Area. San Jose. Including bird photography. Scooters let you cover a lot of area around ponds, lakes, and riverside trails. Get you a lot of photo opportunities. Thoughts? Any groups in your area? I’m serious about it. I’ve organized similar groups for other programs. I have experience. I’ll actually make it happen, so I’m not just making noise.
I think that's a great idea. More and more people are getting scooters these days and I think groups such as what you're planning would encourage people to get out and about and realize the potential that the scooters can give them. I think a lot of people don't realize just how far they can actually go on a scooter. I know of no such groups in my area or have even heard of any. As far as the flag pole is concerned, most new scooters come with them already. I put one on the Monster just for added visibility. I drive through a lot of parking lots and the flag is the only thing visible over top of the parked cars. In that situation, I think it is a must. If you are mainly on sidewalks and trails, it probably wouldn't be necessary. It's just added visibility.

I watched this video a second time. Still think its great,love how you put the camera under the vehicle so we can see how the front suspension works. Great to hear from a real user about a product you really use. Every little detail,like the seat belts, being exspained and love that trailer hitch (really cool and great design).
Thanks. I'll be doing a one year review in May. The picture won't be so pretty, but I'd still buy another Monster. It's absolutely amazing. I have some videos coming up where I conquer some serious snow. The power and traction it has is just mind boggling for a mobility scooter. Also, next summer, I'll hopefully be doing some real off-roading action shots. I was going to do it this past summer but I had a few bugs to work out, then ran out of warm weather. By the way, that trailer hitch voided my warranty. :)

There's a few steep climbs and I'd love to have a go at them ... They are Ricky too ... How does it handle them, in you experience ? I understand it may take more battery power ... The rear suspension is amazing. The front suspension in an off-road situation is good but on sidewalks isn't so great as both wheels don't act independently. It is only 2 wheel drive but, having a differential, if one wheel spins, it gets all the power. My Monster has lots of forward power but in UK and Australia, there are enforced speed restrictions so with less speed, there may be less power as well. I'm not sure if Scotland is included in that. Before buying (if you're buying new), ask the dealer about the speed if that's a concern. Overall it is very comfortable and easy to control on bumpy surfaces.
Many scooters later. I have never had or seen one with mirrors to see past my shoulders. Any make any model. I make a short flat bar extension and move them outward. I agree manufactures should deal with this in a realistic way.
i have the tzora titan xl hummer, the mirrors work good, the scooter gave out after 3 years, the motor is way underpowered, i'm getting that vita monster in blue
I also have a monster! Love your videos! My first set of batteries just kicked the bucket and I was thinking of investing in 100ah lifepo4 batteries for about $900 USD. I've done this with my little gogo sport with great results. They are supposed to last for 10+ years.
Thank you. Just make sure they will physically fit. There's not a little wiggle room in there. I had to cut the front panel off to get my bigger batteries to fit.
I love my Vita sport X as living very high up on the VERY RURAL North West coast of Scotland,with many,many woodland trails,B roads,pristine white sandy beaches,plus loads & loads of bills & mountains & munro's,this scooter is almost perfect for it,just a few tweeks with a bit extra torque or a booster for really steep hills,apart from a few times it stopping going up steeper hills until it stopped,but after 2-3 seconds pull the lever and it takes off as if it was on a flat road,it is excellent,I'm hoping to try the top of the range one next as my 3yrs are up in March 2019,before that I had the Drive/Pride Royale 3,for 3yrs that was also a very good scooter for the terrain up here,just wish it was a bit more springy,for my spinal injuries,sometimes a jolt from an unexpected stone or bump it could be a softer suspension at the back,but still great for most places for 3yrs,only one problem of having to get all 3 tyres changed,all due to myself & my border collie travelled 3,734 miles in 3yrs in & around the village !!,it never broke down or anything just the tyres !!,my supplier had never seen that happen,but my collie is a very fit dog 🐕🐕. So look forward to the Vita sport upgrade in March next year.
Awesome story! My old scooter was used and abused daily for 8 years and is still going strong. The Monster, on the other hand, has been a headache since day one. This video was made after owning it for one month, and before any of the major problems had started. I regret buying it now. It's too bad because it is a great machine when it works.
I'm not sure. Outside of North America, I know for sure they are available in UK and Australia, but I'm not sure where else. I was talking to someone in Singapore last year. I don't remember if he said these were available there but he did say this "class" of scooter is quite expensive. Heartway's head office was originally in Korea but has been bought out by another company. I'm not sure of the company's new name or their location.
@@TheTimeCapturer Ahh yes, Heartway scooters are for sale in Singapore, BUT! they did not bring in this model, the company name is AGIS MOBILITY, i did asked them ones, they said if you really one it, it could cost around $10,000 SGD.
Hopefully all goes well. I was told by my dealer that many of the design issues have been fixed on the newer models. If any error codes come up, I can help you determine the cause. The error codes listed in the manual don't really indicate the actual problem. I have lots of experience with that now. :)
The motor is loud , I had my wheels changed from those small grass cutter tractor wheels, one time hit a rock so hard that my little rod broke, but one easily at heartway , I don’t like it’s so low , I wreck my front by hitting the sidewalk , had to rivet the plastic on top , if suddenly the bike stops going up a hill then all u need to do is push a restart button under the front of the seat, turn the key reprogram the time and ur good to go! Had mine for 8 years and now it’s going sideways , looking for something different so many scooters now that goes faster
Sorry for the late reply. YT never notified me. You would need a programmer to get The Monster to go faster... about $1,000. However, if you live in the UK or Australia, it might not be legal as you have strict speed laws on mobility scooters.
LOL. I'm not sure what the speed limits are here in Canada but no one seems to enforce them anyway. It took me a long time to find a programmer but someone else asked me and they found one pretty quickly. Use the model number from your controller or maybe ask your dealer for information. They might even be nice and do it for you... secretly of course. :) There are two different ones. The cheaper one uses codes but the $1,000 one is a connecting cable and a CD. It has a computer program where you can control a bazillion settings. I originally wanted it so I could get a faster, more powerful reverse speed but the price is too much for me. Good luck.

Unfortunately, my channel has become "The Monster Repair Channel." LOL. Yes, I've had many problems, just look through my videos. You don't have to watch them, the titles tell the story. To summarize, it has many design issues and can't handle it's own capabilities. I've been accused of driving it too hard, which is probably true, but many of my followers here also have one and they've had many of the same issues, and they only drive theirs occasionally for shopping, etc. I believe it is made in Korea, or, at least, used to be. There aren't many dealers in Canada so ordering parts is usually an online adventure. The biggest issue I have with Heartway is they group parts together that shouldn't be and sell parts separately that should be grouped. For example, they don't sell replacement motors separately. They come as motor/brake/transaxle all as one unit. Very costly to replace. The left front hub is sold as the hub, speedometer sending unit, and bearings all separate (should be one unit). Parts can arrive anywhere between a couple of days and 8 months. Normally about a week. The issue is, it's such a specialized machine, parts aren't readily available and can only be purchased from a Heartway dealer. To be fair, I've been told some of the design issues have been addressed on newer models (mine is 2016). Bottom line is, it's a great machine when it's working, but it needs constant attention and maintenance. It's okay for me because I have the ability to fix things but for those who rely on it and can't push it home, it's left them stranded. I no longer tell people not to buy it but be aware it is high maintenance. If you need more info, feel free to ask.
The Mobility Scooter XL Carrier works great and won’t wobble. It supports 500 lbs and the Vitamaster S12 X Monster that you’re using is only 330 lbs. but it’s expensive at $889.00.
I don't have a car so transportation isn't a worry for me. $889... ouch! I do hope to attend our family reunion this autumn. If I go, I'll be renting a U-Haul truck so I can take it with me.
Karsten Schlüter Yes, it has a standard two-wheel-drive differential which means, if you get stuck, the wheel that slips gets all the power. But, I have yet to get it stuck anywhere. The Monster is quite heavy and the tires are wide with aggressive tread so there's lots of traction. The only time I've had any wheel slip is backing up on a steep hill (including my ramp at home) or on a sharp turn under heavy throttle/braking. It's very comfortable off-road, it's home turf, and gives a cadilac-type ride on hard surfaces, such as pavement. It doesn't like sidewalks though. The transition between one slab of concrete and the next gives the front end quite a jolt, even at low speeds. Hope this helps.
Different countries have different maximum speed laws. My dealer told me the manufacturer sets the speed according to the country it will be sold in, then the dealer further restricts the speed according to the user's ability. The speed can only be adjusted by using a programmer. It's very difficult to find a source that will sell you a programmer and they cost about $1000. Depending on the country you are in, you can ask your dealer to increase the speed for you. UK and Australia are very strict with their speed laws, however US and Canada don't seem to enforce them. I don't even know what the max speed is in Canada. As long as you aren't endangering yourself, or others, no one seems to care.

A question for you my scooter recently broke. I'm having my friend who likes to tinker with it look at it he says the lights turn on the lights work but the throttle when you turn it won't go. Do you know what might be going on ? It's an e ewheels 52. Models don't matter. Is there a plug that goes from the wheel to the throttle that could of gotten unplugged? I live in Sault Saint Marie Michigan.
All scooters are set up different but every scooter I've had, the lights will work, even if it is in error mode. I can suggest two things. First, make sure the brake lever is fully in the "drive" position. Sometimes bumps can jar it loose and even though it appears to be in "drive" mode, it is slightly out of position. The other thing is to make sure none of your plugs or battery terminals have come loose. Make sure they are all tight. Nearly everything goes through the controller. When you turn the scooter on, it does a check of all the safety systems. If something isn't right, it will just go into error mode and not work. Unfortunately, it leaves you to figure out the problem yourself. The Monster gives error codes but are rarely helpful. If my suggestions don't fix the problem, let me know. I'll see if I can think of anything else.
YOUR BIGEST PROBLEM IS THAT IT IS A EW, THEY DO NOT GIVE A SERVICE WARRANTY, JUST FOR PARTS AND GOOD LUCK GETTING THEM.....DEALERS DO NOT LIKE TO WORK ON ANYTHING EW MAKES BECAUSE OF THEIER CUSTOMER SERVICE WHCH IS TERRIBLE....GOOD LUCK FINDING SOMEONE TO WORK ON IT FOR YOU...

I've managed with my current scooter but find my clearance is too low so I get high centred. The Monster appears to be able to go off road pretty well. I've watched all your Monster videos and appreciate the info you're sharing. Questions: 1. How is the Monster holding up now that you've had it for a while? 2. Is the roll bar removable? 3. what size are your batteries (amp hours) 4. Is the Monster a one wheel drive (which one) or does it have a differential and drive both rear wheels. 5. Did you buy it in Canada and if so who's the dealer? I'm in Canada too. Hope you're still enjoying your ride and getting out (assuming the snow and road salt aren't there.
First, thank you for your interest in my videos. As far as off-roading with the Monster, what it's designed for, it's absolutely amazing. I really have nothing to compare it with... it's just unique. On the road, full speed on pavement, it's a Cadillac-type ride. You can comfortably run over the sewer covers (most of them) while holding a coffee. However, it absolutely hates sidewalks. If there's any vertical difference between the slabs of concrete, the front end gets quite a jolt, even at lower speeds. Overall, it's an amazing machine and I have no regrets about buying it.Your questions:1. Six months later, I've had some issues with things loosening up. Routine inspection takes care of that. After a drive in the rain, lubricate, lubricate, lubricate. The monster has nylon bushings on all the hinges, which is nice because they are quiet, but when they get dry, the creak like crazy. I'm not sure how nylon handles standard lubricants so I use a vegetable-based one called Fluid Film and it works quite well. I've almost worn out the front tires already and a couple of ball joints are wearing out but that's probably my driving style and the rough ride driving on the shoulders of the road. Both rear fender braces have broke, but again, I attribute that to that dang shoulder. Right now, I'm having an issue with the batteries. One was leaking from the terminal right from day one and I believe that's what has caused the problem but, that's the batteries. It has nothing to do with the Monster itself (the batteries don't come with it).2. The part of the roll bar that goes up over the seat is bolted in so, yes, I believe it is removable but the rest of it is part of the scooter's frame and is permanent.3. Batteries are 79 amp hour. When I replace them in the spring, I'm going to try to find 100 a/h replacements that will physically fit in the monster. These ones are fine but I have a specific destination that I'd like to comfortably reach.4. The Monster has a standard differential - 2-wheel drive (until you get stuck). :)5. I got my Monster from MyMobility Ltd. in Barrie, Ontario.(www.mymobility.ca/). If you are outside Ontario, the distributor (mobilicab.com/en/) is in Quebec. They do have English-speakers there and they will find a dealer close to your location. My actual purchase price was $7200 or $7400 (I don't remember - lol) and that included the batteries and delivery to my door.Unfortunately, my old scooter is awaiting a new brake unit so I'm forced to use the Monster. I'll be posting a video on the Monster's first snow. The weather is alternating between snow and rain but, so far, only one dousing of salt. Good video, very informative. May I ask something, in part of your video, you travel over soft sand, whilst it was only for a moment, I ask if it can deal with driving on soft sand, for say if I went to the beach, would it cope with the soft sand, or is it limited?
I think it depends on the sand itself. In this sand patch, I'd been driving over it for several days without and issue. The day I made this video, it became a problem. It was a cool morning with heavy dew. The clip you see was actually my third attempt without getting stuck. I think because the sand was now wet, it was sticking to the tires. If you look close, the front tire is actually sliding instead of rolling. I included this shot because "normally" it goes through sand without issue, although this sand isn't very deep. In a beach situation, I believe the hard-packed conditions, such as along the edge of the water would be fine, but the deeper, drier sand would likely be a problem, based on the much more experience I have with it now. I no longer recommend this scooter. It is high maintenance, very unreliable and has many design flaws. I have several followers that have the Monster and all regret buying it. You don't have to watch all my videos, but scan the titles and you'll see some of the issues I've had with it. My videos are about a year behind right now and replacing the controller, display panel and throttle haven't been shown yet. I just went through an eight month period of frustration trying to diagnose and finding out the problem was nothing but a burnt plug. According to the dealer, this plug issue existed with all Heartway scooters but has since been remedied. Overall though, when the scooter works properly, it's an amazing machine and very enjoyable to drive but I no longer trust it to take me very far from home. To clarify my response to your question, in my experience, the only conditions it doesn't like is mud. I can't say for sure regarding a beach, because I don't have one to try it on. The Monster is quite heavy and, even with the wide tires, I'm guessing deep sand would be an issue. Hope this helps.

In the UK, it is aimed at those, who do not like the thought of getting into a wheel chair, as it carries a lot of stigma, however with this design, it made it easier to jump in and be off in it. Having looked around, to see what is out there, I came across the Vita X and knew that was the only one I would be seen in. However noting your comments, I may have to now, leave it. They are not cheap, and I cannot go forward, knowingly that it will require constant maintenance. Once again, thank you for your time and advice.
8inary 01100100 You’re welcome. I might add, this scooter is quite large and doesn’t fit through doorways. I’ve only found 2 stores that I could actually take it into. Also, depending on your physical ability, you have to climb up onto it. Neither are an issue for me as I just wanted to have some fun while I still could. There were no reviews to be found when I went looking so I’m happy to share my experiences with it... good and bad. Take care.
I haven't been able to find any tires, anywhere, of the proper size. The only place I'm able to get them is from my dealer. You would need to ask your dealer about it as only a licensed Heartway dealer can get them.
The vertical portion of the roll bar can be removed, yes, but the remainder of the bars are permanent and part of the frame structure. I'm not sure of this but I believe scooter seats are universal. There are two types. One type has a post on the seat that goes into a hole on the scooter. The other type has the hole on the seat and the post on the scooter. I'm pretty sure the actual sizes are the same though. The Monster has the post on the seat.
2 Questions... has anyone taken this inside, like to a mall or something similar, to go shopping, etc...? How do you transport this scooter around? Van, truck?
I personally have never transported The Monster however, it is very large. When it showed up from the dealer, it was brought to me in a U-Haul trailer. It is too tall for a standard van. It is also too heavy for a trailer hitch platform and too wide to fit on it anyway. As for shopping, I have driven it into Walmart ( ruclips.net/video/yPiY2UVY7Q8/видео.html ) and Food Basics ( ruclips.net/video/6nFqEaiFKqQ/видео.html ) - very tight checkout lanes. Others may have experience with transporting.
I purchased mine from My Mobility in Barrie Ontario. I had to call Heartway directly in Quebec and they found the closest dealer to my location. Heartway scooters don't seem to be very popular in Canada so I suspect there aren't many dealers around.
I don't know anything about the wrangler, unfortunately. I stopped recommending The Monster and was actually telling people not to buy it. But four years later, it is POSSIBLE they may have fixed some of the issues. I know one for sure has been fixed on the newer models... but I still won't recommend it. I know too many people with one and all have had the same problems. It seems I was lucky with mine as it is lasting longer than others. Either way, it is expensive to maintain.
I was referring to The Monster. The Sport, as far as I can see, looks like The Monster without a roll bar. The Owner of MyMobility, Gary, is great. If you do have problems, he'll do what he can to help. I don't recommend The Monster any more but I also don't tell people not to buy it either because I'm hoping, after four years, they've addressed the issues. The best advice I can give is listen to the scooter when you're using it. Any out-of-the-ordinary sound could be an issue that will need attention. Good luck.

In the end, I'll never be a customer of Heartway again, but definitely satisfied with the customer service of MyMobility. I love The Monster when it's working but not so impressed with it's lack of reliability. I'm glad I kept my old scooter as a backup... an ES950 from Orthoquad. I never had a major issue with it in the 8 years I drove it. Take care.
Iam not into 4wheeler mobility scooters ive got a greenpower unique 500 in blue and its great goes 4-8-15 miles an hour only had it 2months cost 1695£ new take me 12months well 10months now and its mine 140£a month👍😉
Mine came from Barrie (My Mobility Ltd) but you can contact a nearby health care/mobility dealer and let them track down a closer source. That's how I found mine. Heartway's website has been down for months (I can guess why) but I discovered the Monster has several makers. TGA in Europe and Australia, Heartway and EV Rider, which I believe are both North American. Be warned though. I no longer recommend this scooter. This machine is high maintenance and the parts are so specific to this model that they are nearly impossible to find on ebay or Amazon. Still looking for cheaper tires. Some of my commenters on RUclips have one and they've had worse issues than I have. It's a great machine when it works, but you'll spend a lot of time diagnosing and fixing. This video doesn't reflect that as the real problems hadn't started yet. Good luck.
By the way your better off with AGM batters because they deal with hot and cold temperatures way better than gel batteries plus you can get a larger battery AH on AGM than gel bit more pricey
Your comment confused me. I've replaced the batteries since this video was made and my dealer told me the new ones were AGM and I thought all modern mobility scooter batteries were Gel. I just checked the MK Power website (the brand that I have) and, apparently, AGM and Gel are not together. Hmm, now I need to check to see which I have. Thank you. I'm constantly learning. They're definitely pricey, $600 each.
@@TheTimeCapturer usually when you are sold a mobility scooter they come with 75ah gel but ivealways replaced them with AGM, AGM are used by people for storing solar power hear have a read batteryuniversity.com/learn/article/absorbent_glass_mat_agm I find gel are not very good in cold temperatures, I have an ST6 hear in the UK they call them the st6 ranger used to be the st6 strider, like you I try to do as much as I can myself as in mantaing it 😀
@@TheTimeCapturer all so if you obtain from the manufacturer of the batteries your find them much cheaper because all mobility companies will charge a higher price for them, I currently have 2 90ah's at the cost of just below £300 ha cheaper hear than in Canada www.xe.com/currencyconverter/convert/?Amount=300&From=GBP&To=USD but still cheaper than you mobility dealer if you take measurement of the pace where you put your batteries plus hight you maybe able to get bigger batteries yes there heavy but the higher the ah the graters the distance you can travel + going up steep hills with ease because ie presently your getting 75 amps per minute where I'm getting 90 amps per minute, with tge old st6 I had 2 120ah 's so going up hill was a blast
The new batteries I got were bigger in AH, as well as physically. I had to cut off the front panel to get them to fit. As for the cost, it's irrelevant because, due to being on ODSP (Ontario Disability Support Program), the government pays for repairs and replacement parts for medical and mobility devices. That's not always a good thing because I don't have the option of "choosing" upgraded replacement parts. Thankfully my dealer recognized I needed something better so "he" made the choice for me. :)
Dam you dote get that in the UK our government are tight assed you only get a premium payout every month any aqipment you need you buy out of your own pocket unless your so servile disabled, I must put my mind to making a new trailer from scratch 😆
Super nice scooter but One thing I think it's really annoying is the humming sound coming from either the electric motor or transaxle when riding it, reminds me of and older over sized 24 volt mobility scooter I purchased off someone on craigslist and over volted it to 48 volts, eventually I hacked it and turned it into a power wheels mustang. I have a video of it and it sounds the same.
Gotta love auto correct, LOL. Yes, removing the batteries will lighten by about 120 lbs, but it's quite a job on this machine. It's not something you'd want to do often.
Aside from me? There are many. Sadly there aren't any reviews on RUclips about them. I had to find out the hard way. The Monster has many design flaws, is overly technical, is high maintenance, and can't handle its own abilities. When it's working properly, it's a great machine. To be fair, I give it heavy, daily use but there are people that have had the same issues only using it occasionally for a trip to the store. I used to tell people to avoid this machine but my dealer has told me the newer models have had some issues fixed so I'm neutral now. Just take a look at the titles of the videos in my "Mobility Scooter Projects" playlist. You don't have to watch the videos, the titles tell all. If you are capable of doing your own repairs, you'll probably be alright but the parts are expensive.
Are you from this area and have a specific swamp in mind? The monster isn't too bad with mud, in general, but the deeper stuff is a problem... probably due to it's weight.
All types of grass, weeds, and other small plants are no problem. Hard packed sand is no issue but in loose sand, the Monster will bog down and stop. It doesn't have the power to push through it. Water is no issue as long as you don't submerge the motor/brake unit. I have a video coming out soon, either late this month or early September that shows me driving through flood waters. Most mobility scooters are generally weather resistant and the Monster has survived torrential rains, both driving and standing still. No problems with the driving but, after the standing still soaker, I was in near total darkness and I could see the Monstr's headlights glowing... just a tiny bit, but enough to see them, and the Monster was not on. The control panel and LCD area appears to be quite waterproof but, in order for the lights to be on, they need to get power from somewhere. I'm thinking water may have trickled down, connecting the circuit board to the key switch... the only power source up front. The only other option would be the controller itself. Either way, it never affected its performance any. If I hadn't stopped, I probably would never have known. I'm not sure if this is a normal occurance and I haven't been in an area that dark since to check it when it's not wet. I drove through a muddy trail and didn't have a problem until I got to a tree root. With the front wheel against it, the back wheels just spun. Backed up and hit the tree root at a higher speed and made it through no problem. However, the next day, after a heavy rain in the morning, I went through that exact same spot and the Monster sunk into the mud and stopped. Trying to get out, the back end slid off the trail. At that point, I had to get off and push. So, apparently, muddy areas are questionable and seem to depend on how much water is in the mud.
You're welcome. As I get more and more experience with the Monster, I post the good and bad in my videos. The worst part seems to be the ball joints. They are crap but I'm not having any luck finding an alternative part. Best to keep a supply on hand. From the dealer, they are only $22 CAN each, so it could be worse. It's high maintenance, probably depending on the use but, when it's working fine, it's a joy to drive... on road or off.
I see your flag is a Canada flag and you do seem to be in a rural area. Do you mind telling me where (generally) you are? I'm in the city in Vancouver but I'm from Northern Ontario not too far from Timmins. I hated the weather so I went west when I was a young man of 21. Now I'm an old man of 68 with a pegasus pro 3 wheeler living right near Stanley Park. (grins) I wish I had a scooter when I was a kid up there, I wouldn't have been nearly so bored all the time. I never even had a bicycle back then. Had walk everywhere and we lived 3 miles from the nearest town population 500. YEP I was bored. But that was the 50s & 60s, ;)
I lived in Golden, BC for 15 months... absolutely beautiful and loved it! I missed all my friends though, so I came back to Ontario. The videos, up to this point are from Hanover... Ontario, not Germany. As of the beginning of February, I am now in Wingham. I grew up in a small town; not quite as small as yours. I believe the population was around 6 thousand at that time. I lived in Toronto for awhile when I was in college. I didn't mind it but way too busy for my liking. I prefer the rural areas as I'm a nature nut.
If you have not checked this out... you should. This flashlight/ZOOM-Spotlight/SOS/Strobe-light and bright area light are great. Very high-intensity spotlight and almost indestructible and high water resistant. The best flashlight I have ever seen. I have a bunch of these. Not these exact ones, but similar. I actually use one as a headlight on my bicycle. I've used them on my old scooter as well as on the Monster. My overhead flood light replaced them. I generally have a coffee in my hand so if someone is coming toward me, I would actually have to stop to turn the light off. I use a rocker switch for the overhead light and I can turn it on or off just by tapping it with the hand that's holding the coffee. I have a miner's headlamp also that is 8000 lumens, brighter than anything I've ever seen. Isn't technology wonderful?

Wow! Fantastic video... I've just bought one a few weeks ago!... This would have shortlisted this scooter sooner! I want to mount a number of things inc a camera and radio devices... I'm wondering if you have any comments?... Things like frame tube sizes seem to be reported by different people as different.. I assume it's the same build internationally? Also, mine arrived with the seat slightly off centre, as in tilting very slightly to left... I also have a bit if wobblebin my seat... Do I have a problem or being over cautious? It's a fantastic machine as I'm sure you already know, but as an amputee it's given me the chance to get places I haven't been for 40+ years! I really need to mount some secure storage for accessory batteries and radio equipment, and maybe a rucksack to carry shopping and other stuff... I'd be happy to hear any suggestions! Keep in mind, the lights you see are not The Monster's stock lighting. I've been playing around for awhile, trying to get lights that are bright enough for the camera. What finally worked was an 18 watt lightbar on top of the roll bar and a 120 watt light on the bumper. I can't determine which video it was that I talked about the lights. I have no suggestion about the tilted seat. That's a new one for me. The seat wobble in normal. Every scooter I've had does that. As for storage, I hang a backpack from the headrest. I will be altering that, hopefully soon to accommodate the two bags from my bike. If you move the seat far enough forward, you will have plenty of room between it and the roll bar to come up with some kind of storage. Maybe a plastic bin from the dollar store held on by zip ties? Enjoy your freedom. One word of warning though. Don't hit anything with the bottom of the front bumper. The bumper mount is just flat steel and is easily bent, causing the entire front end to break and bend forward. I've done it and some of my viewers have also done it. Darcy leepearson You need a programmer. It’s a handheld unit that’s about $400. That’s why I don’t have one. It’s best to find someone with one but they are available on amazon. I can get the link for you if you are interested.
Apparently I didn't save the link. :( They aren't easy to find... you have to have the exact search term. I used the part number off the controller to find it last time. I just got out of bed. Once I'm able, I'll go out to the garage to get the number again. I found them on Amazon, Ali Express and a used one on ebay. I won't give up until I find something for you.
Sorry for the delay. I'm having a real hard time finding it now. Only a month ago, I found several options. I'm wondering, with all the crap happening in the world, if it's no longer available to Canada and that's why I'm not seeing it. If you're in the US, you may have better luck. Assuming you have the 200 amp version, search terms to use are: "D51448.06" "S Drive" "PG Drives" and possibly "B015091345". The numbers are off the controller itself and was what I used to find it the first time. I found a picture on google images for aliexpress, but when I clicked on it, it took me to a listing for the controller itself, not the programmer. I don't get it. Hopefully you can have better luck. If it comes down to it, you should be able to get one through the dealer that sold you the Monster, but they will likely charge more. Let me know if you have any luck.
Jaco Spangenberg Well I sure hope the S model is more reliable and durable. My X has been a nightmare. It’s high maintenance, unreliable, and has design issues. I truly hope you have a better experience. Thank you for the compliment. I would love to remake this video now that I’m more comfortable talking to the camera, but I just don’t feel the same excitement toward the scooter.
It was 8 years ago when I searched for it and it took me a long time to find it. I don't know the model of my controller right now so I can't search. Sorry. There are two controllers for the Monster, 200 amp and 120 amp. I have the 200 amp but I don't know the model number. I just moved last month and have a lot to do. I just don't have the time right now.

Four-wheel-drive scooters are generally individual brand. In other words that is the only scooter they make. There is a three-wheel-drive that isn't priced too bad. I paid $7,500 Canadian initially, but with all the repairs, I've practically bought it twice. It has a lot of design issues and it breaks down a lot. When it works properly, it's amazing, but it's high maintenance and parts are expensive. I no longer recommend this machine.
I have the UK vestion of this , my biggest complaint is the mirrors , as far as I am concerned they are not fit for purpose , you shouldn't have to tilt your wheel to see behind you !! ......... Here they are TGA and there customer service is useless and I told them so and neither the UK supplier want to do anything about it ............... I really can't understand why they have the attitude they have , all I can say as one of the most expensive scooters you can buy here the mirrors are totally useless , luckily most of where I use mine its in the park and I am very happy with it but as for using round the shops the ride is not good but it was designed for off road here and on that its awesome and I don't really need the mirrors but if I am on the road I don't feel safe at all because the mirrors are totally useless. I think the only way round it is to have some custom made arms for the useless mirrors when all they really need to do is to make the mirror arms longer . I was so annoyed when I realised it and considering the cost of the scooter but because it lives on my van and gets used in the parks it was some time before I tried it on the road and that was when I realised how bad the mirrors were but neither the UK distributor or my supplier are prepared to do anything about it !! ........... nice review to :)
Dave Sellwood I agree. Now that the cool, rainy season is upon us, I am now wearing a bulky jacket and, for the most part, that's all I see in the mirrors. I think the reason you aren't getting any response from the company is because this issue doesn't just concern the monster. I have yet to see a scooter with adequate mirrors... They just don't seem to exist. I am contemplating getting my welder to fabricate some for me. Good question. The Monster is quite large and you have to climb up onto it. Also, I forgot to mention in this video, there is no speed adjuster knob so there are only two speeds. I definitely wouldn't recommend it for elderly people.
Seating pos kinda high aint it? It must have a high center of gravity which will make it easy to topple. How do you transport it? Looks like you need a trailer & a pickup to transport. It looks VERY expensive. I think who ever designed this is unclear on the concept. !
Yes, the seat is very high but the center of gravity is kept low by the weight of the huge batteries. On slight angles, it leans uncomfortably due to the soft suspension but I've never come close to actually tipping it over. I know for sure that I've had it on a 30° angle. It likely helps that my weight fluctuates between 110-130 pounds though. A 200-300 pound person may have a different experience as there would be more weight "up high." As for transportation, the dealer rented a u-haul trailer to bring it to me so, yes, it is quite large and won't fit in a standard vehicle. A full-size van would likely work but the roll bar would need to be removed to lower the height. The purchase price when I bought it back in 2016 was $7,200 CAN (still paying for it...). After all the design issues I've identified and finding out it's high maintenance, I believe this scooter was a concept that was never fully tested before it was made available to the public.
@@TheTimeCapturer HI from the UK :) I had the Pride Ranger for the so called 'Off Road' spec, but kept getting flat tyres/came of rim in the middle of nowhere. Was looking for Scooters that had solid tyres & there was only 2 i could get in the UK. Looked at your original video from 2016 & came close to choosing it because of the height/me being 6'1, but went for the TGA Breeze S4/solid tyres :) No more being stranded but yes, breeze so much lower sitting :(
@@clivechurchman9776 The Monster's tires are good and bad. Bad because the wideness causes the tubes to spread out more and makes them very prone to punctures. However, they are good because, being low profile, I'm able to drive home on a flat without the tire coming off the rim. I've had to drive on a flat many times and have never had one come off the rim. My old, basic scooter, on the other hand. if I got a flat with it, the tires would come off almost immediately and the wheelie bar would rest on the ground, preventing it from moving. Solid tires definitely won't go flat but they will sacrifice comfort... not a problem if you only drive on hard surfaces.
You do good videos, only your audio needs alot of help. Intro music too loud, your voice audio is way too low (I noticed this is because you have a soft voice) and wind noise is really bad when you combine that with your soft voice. Maybe whatever you use to edit your videos can allow you to do voice over, and not use the actual real time audio. But really good videos,thanks. Been watching some of your other videos too. Good job, just work on the audio a little.
Thank you, mxv 2015, for your critique. I didn't realize the intro music was too loud. I thought it just seemed that way due to the rest of the audio being too quiet. I'll take care of that in future videos. The voice problem has been haunting me for awhile now. I can make it louder during processing but it gets horribly distorted. I've been thinking of getting a clip-on microphone but, because none of my cameras have a mic input, I'd need some kind of audio recorder. Maybe someone can suggest options here as I have no experience with it. I have been doing voice-over with other videos and, while being somewhat successful, I still can't seem to get it as loud as it needs to be without distorting it. I'm not used to being in front of the camera and I think my biggest issue is being afraid someone will hear me, so I tend to talk quieter. Once I get past that, I'll be more comfortable talking louder. I think the clip-on mic and voice recorder will be my best option but that'll have to wait until spring when my finances improve. I don't know anything about the Outback other than what others have told me and it's all been good. I've had the Monster for almost 8 years now and, comparing it to "any" other scooter, I certainly can't disagree with you.
@@TheTimeCapturer wait up..I was gonna buy the vita S12X/monster for 8 grand brand new the comparisons to the outback really ain't that much difference only centimetres but for me was I have too 2780 motors where you only have 1 900 watt motor but in saying that I can only do 2 Kay's quicker but up hills or if I choose to tow I would win hands down..but yours looks more alien like if I never stumbled upon the outback I woulda bought yours and now I have mine woulda been very disappointed as I wanted the best.....FYI I paided a extra 2 grand
The Monster is quite heavy and, in my opinion, the motor is too small. Every 2 years, I need to replace it... or the transaxle. Of course, I drive every day, summer and winter, often it's full range and there are a lot of hills here to climb. Thankfully, because I'm on gov assistance, they pay for the parts, however I have to do all the work myself. I love and hate The Monster. When it works, it's an amazing machine. Would I buy another? Maybe a used one. I know what design issues to fix right away.
I should also state that many of my YT followers have a Monster and nearly all have had the same issues as me and some have been worse. In many cases, they only drive occasionally. A good indication it's not my driving situation that causes the issues. The Monster has many design issues, most of which I have fixed now.
Good eye. I drove through this sand daily with no issues. The morning that I made this video, I got stuck three times before finally making it through. It was a cool morning with heavy dew and I think the dampness was what made the difference as the front wheels seemed to be sticking to it, making the back wheels spin.

Hi I want to take it from this. my financial situation is bad. This is my car with my physical disability and my dream.I would have liked that much from this.
I regret buying this scooter. It looks pretty and that's why I bought it. I found no reviews ahead of time, only dealers driving it in a parking lot. It is high maintenance, unreliable, and has definite design issues. I am one of the lucky ones apparently. Other people have had really bad luck with theirs. My problems have been recent. In August 2017, the motor failed. I had a lot of fun with it up to that point. Unfortunately, I can't get just a replacement motor... I have to replace the entire rear axle with brake and motor. Six months later, I'm still waiting for the parts to arrive. Once it's fixed, I will only use it as an occasional use machine. It's too bad because it really is a nice machine. My videos are still way behind and haven't caught up to the point where it breaks down but, if you look at the multitude of videos I have, showing the problems that I've faced with it, you can get a bit of an idea why I no longer trust it. I'm so glad I kept my old scooter as a backup. It's seven years old and still going strong. :)
LOL! I have the extra light now. Super capacitor makes me laugh because I actually bought one to experiment with. It was for use somewhere else but The Monster may be a good guinea pig due to it's heavy weight. But, being only 12v, I would need two to operate on 24V.
There are a lot of design issues, even electrical. I've been able to fix a lot of them when they show up but it just seems it was a prototype that was rushed onto the market without being properly tested. It's a great machine when it's working properly.
It still surprises me how many people call the bar at the rear a roll bar. This bar is not a roll bar, it is to secure a walker or wheelchair to the back of the scooter.
This not a normal scooter, it's an all-terrain scooter. This is the only scooter I've seen with an actual roll bar. I know what you're referring to but this isn't that. If you check the description on Heartway's website or EV Rider's website, the manufacturer even calls it a roll bar.
@@TheTimeCapturer I work in the mobility scooter industry and I've also owned a Vita X. It is not a roll bar, regardless of any website claims. (Although the Heartway website, does not state it has a roll bar as you claim) A roll bar MUST be higher than the occupants head to be of any use as a roll bar. This clearly isn't the case when you are sat on the seat.

Sorry for the late response... very very busy after the move. I can't find your question regarding why I use the scooter... maybe you deleted it? I have fibromyalgia which causes me to get exhausted very quickly. Walking any great distance is very difficult. The scooters are only for transportation. I'm still a fully licensed driver so, if I could afford it, I'd be driving a car; although the scooters allow me to enjoy places I couldn't with a car, such as the trails. As per the speed laws, they differ per country. Having said that, I'm not aware of what Canada's speed limits are but I'm sure the Monster exceeds it. Driving on the sidewalk or on the road is a judgement call, depending on where I am. There are places I won't drive on the road and places I won't drive on the sidewalk. Everywhere else depends on weather, traffic, my health state, time of day, which scooter I'm using and many other factors. Driving a scooter, I'm classed as a pedestrian. When I drive on the sidewalks, I use pedestrian laws. When I drive on the roads, I use traffic laws. I understand, when I'm on the road, I should be on the left and I have tried it, but it feels too unnatural to me. Thank you for your comments.
I won't argue that... I agree. There are two reasons for it. This video was made just after I started actually talking to the camera. I felt quite awkward. The other reason is I have fibromyalgia and if you know anything about it, you'll know it affects the thought process and memory, making it difficult at times to even complete a sentence without pausing. I'll always have this illness, I can't do anything about that, but I've improved a great deal as far as being comfortable in front of the camera so my newer videos are much better. There are a lot of things I'd like to do over in this video.
Very helpful video. I just bought a Me:Go NEV and will have it in about 3 weeks. I bought the monster to do just what you’re doing; off road. I went with the Me:Go because it has a 726 lb. weight capacity. Yours is 350 and I’m 400 and 6’2”. It’ll do 19.8 MPH, or 32 KM. It flies. And has a 50 mile max distance fully charged and handle a 30 degree slope. It’s expensive, $7K plus $850. for the truck hitch carrier, but will take me wherever I want to go and most importantly, it will get me home too.. I’m a wildlife photographer and haven’t been able to get out there for the past 5 years since getting ill. But now, I’ll be back at it again! All the best and many happy and safe trails to you!

Also, I’m thinking of starting an off road group for scooter folks in my area. South S. F. Bay Area. San Jose. Including bird photography. Scooters let you cover a lot of area around ponds, lakes, and riverside trails. Get you a lot of photo opportunities. Thoughts? Any groups in your area? I’m serious about it. I’ve organized similar groups for other programs. I have experience. I’ll actually make it happen, so I’m not just making noise.
I think that's a great idea. More and more people are getting scooters these days and I think groups such as what you're planning would encourage people to get out and about and realize the potential that the scooters can give them. I think a lot of people don't realize just how far they can actually go on a scooter. I know of no such groups in my area or have even heard of any. As far as the flag pole is concerned, most new scooters come with them already. I put one on the Monster just for added visibility. I drive through a lot of parking lots and the flag is the only thing visible over top of the parked cars. In that situation, I think it is a must. If you are mainly on sidewalks and trails, it probably wouldn't be necessary. It's just added visibility.

I watched this video a second time. Still think its great,love how you put the camera under the vehicle so we can see how the front suspension works. Great to hear from a real user about a product you really use. Every little detail,like the seat belts, being exspained and love that trailer hitch (really cool and great design).
Thanks. I'll be doing a one year review in May. The picture won't be so pretty, but I'd still buy another Monster. It's absolutely amazing. I have some videos coming up where I conquer some serious snow. The power and traction it has is just mind boggling for a mobility scooter. Also, next summer, I'll hopefully be doing some real off-roading action shots. I was going to do it this past summer but I had a few bugs to work out, then ran out of warm weather. By the way, that trailer hitch voided my warranty. :)

The rear suspension is amazing. The front suspension in an off-road situation is good but on sidewalks isn't so great as both wheels don't act independently. It is only 2 wheel drive but, having a differential, if one wheel spins, it gets all the power. My Monster has lots of forward power but in UK and Australia, there are enforced speed restrictions so with less speed, there may be less power as well. I'm not sure if Scotland is included in that. Before buying (if you're buying new), ask the dealer about the speed if that's a concern. Overall it is very comfortable and easy to control on bumpy surfaces.
Many scooters later. I have never had or seen one with mirrors to see past my shoulders. Any make any model. I make a short flat bar extension and move them outward. I agree manufactures should deal with this in a realistic way.
Do as I did get extensions to lift them so you can see over your shoulders 😆 but presently with the ST6 its not to bad
i have the tzora titan xl hummer, the mirrors work good, the scooter gave out after 3 years, the motor is way underpowered, i'm getting that vita monster in blue

I also have a monster! Love your videos! My first set of batteries just kicked the bucket and I was thinking of investing in 100ah lifepo4 batteries for about $900 USD. I've done this with my little gogo sport with great results. They are supposed to last for 10+ years.
Thank you. Just make sure they will physically fit. There's not a little wiggle room in there. I had to cut the front panel off to get my bigger batteries to fit.
I love my Vita sport X as living very high up on the VERY RURAL North West coast of Scotland,with many,many woodland trails,B roads,pristine white sandy beaches,plus loads & loads of bills & mountains & munro's,this scooter is almost perfect for it,just a few tweeks with a bit extra torque or a booster for really steep hills,apart from a few times it stopping going up steeper hills until it stopped,but after 2-3 seconds pull the lever and it takes off as if it was on a flat road,it is excellent,I'm hoping to try the top of the range one next as my 3yrs are up in March 2019,before that I had the Drive/Pride Royale 3,for 3yrs that was also a very good scooter for the terrain up here,just wish it was a bit more springy,for my spinal injuries,sometimes a jolt from an unexpected stone or bump it could be a softer suspension at the back,but still great for most places for 3yrs,only one problem of having to get all 3 tyres changed,all due to myself & my border collie travelled 3,734 miles in 3yrs in & around the village !!,it never broke down or anything just the tyres !!,my supplier had never seen that happen,but my collie is a very fit dog 🐕🐕.
So look forward to the Vita sport upgrade in March next year.
Awesome story! My old scooter was used and abused daily for 8 years and is still going strong. The Monster, on the other hand, has been a headache since day one. This video was made after owning it for one month, and before any of the major problems had started. I regret buying it now. It's too bad because it is a great machine when it works.

I'm not sure. Outside of North America, I know for sure they are available in UK and Australia, but I'm not sure where else. I was talking to someone in Singapore last year. I don't remember if he said these were available there but he did say this "class" of scooter is quite expensive. Heartway's head office was originally in Korea but has been bought out by another company. I'm not sure of the company's new name or their location.

Hopefully all goes well. I was told by my dealer that many of the design issues have been fixed on the newer models. If any error codes come up, I can help you determine the cause. The error codes listed in the manual don't really indicate the actual problem. I have lots of experience with that now. :)

The motor is loud , I had my wheels changed from those small grass cutter tractor wheels, one time hit a rock so hard that my little rod broke, but one easily at heartway , I don’t like it’s so low , I wreck my front by hitting the sidewalk , had to rivet the plastic on top , if suddenly the bike stops going up a hill then all u need to do is push a restart button under the front of the seat, turn the key reprogram the time and ur good to go! Had mine for 8 years and now it’s going sideways , looking for something different so many scooters now that goes faster

Sorry for the late reply. YT never notified me. You would need a programmer to get The Monster to go faster... about $1,000. However, if you live in the UK or Australia, it might not be legal as you have strict speed laws on mobility scooters.

LOL. I'm not sure what the speed limits are here in Canada but no one seems to enforce them anyway. It took me a long time to find a programmer but someone else asked me and they found one pretty quickly. Use the model number from your controller or maybe ask your dealer for information. They might even be nice and do it for you... secretly of course. :) There are two different ones. The cheaper one uses codes but the $1,000 one is a connecting cable and a CD. It has a computer program where you can control a bazillion settings. I originally wanted it so I could get a faster, more powerful reverse speed but the price is too much for me. Good luck.

Unfortunately, my channel has become "The Monster Repair Channel." LOL. Yes, I've had many problems, just look through my videos. You don't have to watch them, the titles tell the story. To summarize, it has many design issues and can't handle it's own capabilities. I've been accused of driving it too hard, which is probably true, but many of my followers here also have one and they've had many of the same issues, and they only drive theirs occasionally for shopping, etc. I believe it is made in Korea, or, at least, used to be. There aren't many dealers in Canada so ordering parts is usually an online adventure. The biggest issue I have with Heartway is they group parts together that shouldn't be and sell parts separately that should be grouped. For example, they don't sell replacement motors separately. They come as motor/brake/transaxle all as one unit. Very costly to replace. The left front hub is sold as the hub, speedometer sending unit, and bearings all separate (should be one unit). Parts can arrive anywhere between a couple of days and 8 months. Normally about a week. The issue is, it's such a specialized machine, parts aren't readily available and can only be purchased from a Heartway dealer. To be fair, I've been told some of the design issues have been addressed on newer models (mine is 2016). Bottom line is, it's a great machine when it's working, but it needs constant attention and maintenance. It's okay for me because I have the ability to fix things but for those who rely on it and can't push it home, it's left them stranded. I no longer tell people not to buy it but be aware it is high maintenance. If you need more info, feel free to ask.
The Mobility Scooter XL Carrier works great and won’t wobble. It supports 500 lbs and the Vitamaster S12 X Monster that you’re using is only 330 lbs. but it’s expensive at $889.00.
I don't have a car so transportation isn't a worry for me. $889... ouch! I do hope to attend our family reunion this autumn. If I go, I'll be renting a U-Haul truck so I can take it with me.

Karsten Schlüter Yes, it has a standard two-wheel-drive differential which means, if you get stuck, the wheel that slips gets all the power. But, I have yet to get it stuck anywhere. The Monster is quite heavy and the tires are wide with aggressive tread so there's lots of traction. The only time I've had any wheel slip is backing up on a steep hill (including my ramp at home) or on a sharp turn under heavy throttle/braking. It's very comfortable off-road, it's home turf, and gives a cadilac-type ride on hard surfaces, such as pavement. It doesn't like sidewalks though. The transition between one slab of concrete and the next gives the front end quite a jolt, even at low speeds. Hope this helps.

Different countries have different maximum speed laws. My dealer told me the manufacturer sets the speed according to the country it will be sold in, then the dealer further restricts the speed according to the user's ability. The speed can only be adjusted by using a programmer. It's very difficult to find a source that will sell you a programmer and they cost about $1000. Depending on the country you are in, you can ask your dealer to increase the speed for you. UK and Australia are very strict with their speed laws, however US and Canada don't seem to enforce them. I don't even know what the max speed is in Canada. As long as you aren't endangering yourself, or others, no one seems to care.

A question for you my scooter recently broke. I'm having my friend who likes to tinker with it look at it he says the lights turn on the lights work but the throttle when you turn it won't go. Do you know what might be going on ? It's an e ewheels 52. Models don't matter. Is there a plug that goes from the wheel to the throttle that could of gotten unplugged?

All scooters are set up different but every scooter I've had, the lights will work, even if it is in error mode. I can suggest two things. First, make sure the brake lever is fully in the "drive" position. Sometimes bumps can jar it loose and even though it appears to be in "drive" mode, it is slightly out of position. The other thing is to make sure none of your plugs or battery terminals have come loose. Make sure they are all tight. Nearly everything goes through the controller. When you turn the scooter on, it does a check of all the safety systems. If something isn't right, it will just go into error mode and not work. Unfortunately, it leaves you to figure out the problem yourself. The Monster gives error codes but are rarely helpful. If my suggestions don't fix the problem, let me know. I'll see if I can think of anything else.

First, thank you for your interest in my videos. As far as off-roading with the Monster, what it's designed for, it's absolutely amazing. I really have nothing to compare it with... it's just unique. On the road, full speed on pavement, it's a Cadillac-type ride. You can comfortably run over the sewer covers (most of them) while holding a coffee. However, it absolutely hates sidewalks. If there's any vertical difference between the slabs of concrete, the front end gets quite a jolt, even at lower speeds. Overall, it's an amazing machine and I have no regrets about buying it.Your questions:1. Six months later, I've had some issues with things loosening up. Routine inspection takes care of that. After a drive in the rain, lubricate, lubricate, lubricate. The monster has nylon bushings on all the hinges, which is nice because they are quiet, but when they get dry, the creak like crazy. I'm not sure how nylon handles standard lubricants so I use a vegetable-based one called Fluid Film and it works quite well. I've almost worn out the front tires already and a couple of ball joints are wearing out but that's probably my driving style and the rough ride driving on the shoulders of the road. Both rear fender braces have broke, but again, I attribute that to that dang shoulder. Right now, I'm having an issue with the batteries. One was leaking from the terminal right from day one and I believe that's what has caused the problem but, that's the batteries. It has nothing to do with the Monster itself (the batteries don't come with it).2. The part of the roll bar that goes up over the seat is bolted in so, yes, I believe it is removable but the rest of it is part of the scooter's frame and is permanent.3. Batteries are 79 amp hour. When I replace them in the spring, I'm going to try to find 100 a/h replacements that will physically fit in the monster. These ones are fine but I have a specific destination that I'd like to comfortably reach.4. The Monster has a standard differential - 2-wheel drive (until you get stuck). :)5. I got my Monster from MyMobility Ltd. in Barrie, Ontario.(www.mymobility.ca/). If you are outside Ontario, the distributor (mobilicab.com/en/) is in Quebec. They do have English-speakers there and they will find a dealer close to your location. My actual purchase price was $7200 or $7400 (I don't remember - lol) and that included the batteries and delivery to my door.Unfortunately, my old scooter is awaiting a new brake unit so I'm forced to use the Monster. I'll be posting a video on the Monster's first snow. The weather is alternating between snow and rain but, so far, only one dousing of salt. Good video, very informative. May I ask something, in part of your video, you travel over soft sand, whilst it was only for a moment, I ask if it can deal with driving on soft sand, for say if I went to the beach, would it cope with the soft sand, or is it limited?
I think it depends on the sand itself. In this sand patch, I'd been driving over it for several days without and issue. The day I made this video, it became a problem. It was a cool morning with heavy dew. The clip you see was actually my third attempt without getting stuck. I think because the sand was now wet, it was sticking to the tires. If you look close, the front tire is actually sliding instead of rolling. I included this shot because "normally" it goes through sand without issue, although this sand isn't very deep. In a beach situation, I believe the hard-packed conditions, such as along the edge of the water would be fine, but the deeper, drier sand would likely be a problem, based on the much more experience I have with it now. I no longer recommend this scooter. It is high maintenance, very unreliable and has many design flaws. I have several followers that have the Monster and all regret buying it. You don't have to watch all my videos, but scan the titles and you'll see some of the issues I've had with it. My videos are about a year behind right now and replacing the controller, display panel and throttle haven't been shown yet. I just went through an eight month period of frustration trying to diagnose and finding out the problem was nothing but a burnt plug. According to the dealer, this plug issue existed with all Heartway scooters but has since been remedied. Overall though, when the scooter works properly, it's an amazing machine and very enjoyable to drive but I no longer trust it to take me very far from home. To clarify my response to your question, in my experience, the only conditions it doesn't like is mud. I can't say for sure regarding a beach, because I don't have one to try it on. The Monster is quite heavy and, even with the wide tires, I'm guessing deep sand would be an issue. Hope this helps.

In the UK, it is aimed at those, who do not like the thought of getting into a wheel chair, as it carries a lot of stigma, however with this design, it made it easier to jump in and be off in it. Having looked around, to see what is out there, I came across the Vita X and knew that was the only one I would be seen in. However noting your comments, I may have to now, leave it. They are not cheap, and I cannot go forward, knowingly that it will require constant maintenance. Once again, thank you for your time and advice.

Also, depending on your physical ability, you have to climb up onto it. Neither are an issue for me as I just wanted to have some fun while I still could. I haven't been able to find any tires, anywhere, of the proper size. The only place I'm able to get them is from my dealer. You would need to ask your dealer about it as only a licensed Heartway dealer can get them.

Can that roll bar be removed and also do you know if it can be fitted with a lower profile seat?
The vertical portion of the roll bar can be removed, yes, but the remainder of the bars are permanent and part of the frame structure. I'm not sure of this but I believe scooter seats are universal. There are two types. One type has a post on the seat that goes into a hole on the scooter. The other type has the hole on the seat and the post on the scooter. I'm pretty sure the actual sizes are the same though. The Monster has the post on the seat.
Make sure they put new batteries in it. They have been known to put batteries that are years old in them. Mine failed after just 6 months.
That's interesting. I only got 4 months out my first set of batteries. The second set lasted 6 years. Thankfully I don't have to pay for my batteries.

I personally have never transported The Monster however, it is very large. When it showed up from the dealer, it was brought to me in a U-Haul trailer. It is too tall for a standard van. It is also too heavy for a trailer hitch platform and too wide to fit on it anyway. As for shopping, I have driven it into Walmart ( ruclips.net/video/yPiY2UVY7Q8/видео.html ) and Food Basics ( ruclips.net/video/6nFqEaiFKqQ/видео.html ) - very tight checkout lanes. Others may have experience with transporting.

The price and speed will depend on which country you are in. In Canada, I paid $7,200 in 2016. The speed of mine is 21 km/h (13 mph) on level ground.

I purchased mine from My Mobility in Barrie Ontario. I had to call Heartway directly in Quebec and they found the closest dealer to my location. Heartway scooters don't seem to be very popular in Canada so I suspect there aren't many dealers around.

I don't know anything about the wrangler, unfortunately. I stopped recommending The Monster and was actually telling people not to buy it. But four years later, it is POSSIBLE they may have fixed some of the issues. I know one for sure has been fixed on the newer models... but I still won't recommend it. I know too many people with one and all have had the same problems. It seems I was lucky with mine as it is lasting longer than others. Either way, it is expensive to maintain.

I was referring to The Monster. The Sport, as far as I can see, looks like The Monster without a roll bar. The Owner of MyMobility, Gary, is great. If you do have problems, he'll do what he can to help. I don't recommend The Monster any more but I also don't tell people not to buy it either because I'm hoping, after four years, they've addressed the issues. The best advice I can give is listen to the scooter when you're using it. Any out-of-the-ordinary sound could be an issue that will need attention. Good luck.

In the end, I'll never be a customer of Heartway again, but definitely satisfied with the customer service of MyMobility. In Australia and the UK, The Monster is a lot slower due to strict laws. Here in Canada, the laws are more relaxed and rarely enforced.

Mine came from Barrie (My Mobility Ltd) but you can contact a nearby health care/mobility dealer and let them track down a closer source. That's how I found mine. Heartway's website has been down for months (I can guess why) but I discovered the Monster has several makers. TGA in Europe and Australia, Heartway and EV Rider, which I believe are both North American. Be warned though. I no longer recommend this scooter. This machine is high maintenance and the parts are so specific to this model that they are nearly impossible to find on ebay or Amazon. Still looking for cheaper tires. Some of my commenters on RUclips have one and they've had worse issues than I have. It's a great machine when it works, but you'll spend a lot of time diagnosing and fixing. This video doesn't reflect that as the real problems hadn't started yet. Good luck.

By the way your better off with AGM batters because they deal with hot and cold temperatures way better than gel batteries plus you can get a larger battery AH on AGM than gel bit more pricey
Your comment confused me. I've replaced the batteries since this video was made and my dealer told me the new ones were AGM and I thought all modern mobility scooter batteries were Gel. I just checked the MK Power website (the brand that I have) and, apparently, AGM and Gel are not together. Hmm, now I need to check to see which I have. Thank you. I'm constantly learning. They're definitely pricey, $600 each.

The new batteries I got were bigger in AH, as well as physically. I had to cut off the front panel to get them to fit. As for the cost, it's irrelevant because, due to being on ODSP (Ontario Disability Support Program), the government pays for repairs and replacement parts for medical and mobility devices. That's not always a good thing because I don't have the option of "choosing" upgraded replacement parts. Thankfully my dealer recognized I needed something better so "he" made the choice for me. :)
Dam you dote get that in the UK our government are tight assed you only get a premium payout every month any aqipment you need you buy out of your own pocket unless your so servile disabled, I must put my mind to making a new trailer from scratch 😆

Super nice scooter but One thing I think it's really annoying is the humming sound coming from either the electric motor or transaxle when riding it, reminds me of and older over sized 24 volt mobility scooter I purchased off someone on craigslist and over volted it to 48 volts, eventually I hacked it and turned it into a power wheels mustang. I have a video of it and it sounds the same.
I agree. It's quite loud but, since I replaced the motor/transaxle, it isn't quite as bad. Still annoying, but not as bad.
Could lighten the load by taking the batteries out just an idea. When transporting however this is a good video thank you.
Gotta love auto correct, LOL. Yes, removing the batteries will lighten by about 120 lbs, but it's quite a job on this machine. It's not something you'd want to do often.

Aside from me? There are many. Sadly there aren't any reviews on RUclips about them. I had to find out the hard way. The Monster has many design flaws, is overly technical, is high maintenance, and can't handle its own abilities. When it's working properly, it's a great machine. To be fair, I give it heavy, daily use but there are people that have had the same issues only using it occasionally for a trip to the store. I used to tell people to avoid this machine but my dealer has told me the newer models have had some issues fixed so I'm neutral now. Just take a look at the titles of the videos in my "Mobility Scooter Projects" playlist. You don't have to watch the videos, the titles tell all. If you are capable of doing your own repairs, you'll probably be alright but the parts are expensive.

Are you from this area and have a specific swamp in mind? The monster isn't too bad with mud, in general, but the deeper stuff is a problem... probably due to it's weight.
What do you think it could handle (mud, water, etc) as far as depth is concerned and have you had it in really soft grass?
All types of grass, weeds, and other small plants are no problem. Hard packed sand is no issue but in loose sand, the Monster will bog down and stop. It doesn't have the power to push through it. Water is no issue as long as you don't submerge the motor/brake unit. I have a video coming out soon, either late this month or early September that shows me driving through flood waters. Most mobility scooters are generally weather resistant and the Monster has survived torrential rains, both driving and standing still. No problems with the driving but, after the standing still soaker, I was in near total darkness and I could see the Monstr's headlights glowing... just a tiny bit, but enough to see them, and the Monster was not on. The control panel and LCD area appears to be quite waterproof but, in order for the lights to be on, they need to get power from somewhere. I'm thinking water may have trickled down, connecting the circuit board to the key switch... the only power source up front. The only other option would be the controller itself. Either way, it never affected its performance any. If I hadn't stopped, I probably would never have known. I'm not sure if this is a normal occurance and I haven't been in an area that dark since to check it when it's not wet. I drove through a muddy trail and didn't have a problem until I got to a tree root. With the front wheel against it, the back wheels just spun. Backed up and hit the tree root at a higher speed and made it through no problem. However, the next day, after a heavy rain in the morning, I went through that exact same spot and the Monster sunk into the mud and stopped. Trying to get out, the back end slid off the trail. At that point, I had to get off and push. So, apparently, muddy areas are questionable and seem to depend on how much water is in the mud.

You're welcome. As I get more and more experience with the Monster, I post the good and bad in my videos. The worst part seems to be the ball joints. They are crap but I'm not having any luck finding an alternative part. Best to keep a supply on hand. From the dealer, they are only $22 CAN each, so it could be worse. It's high maintenance, probably depending on the use but, when it's working fine, it's a joy to drive... on road or off.

I'm in the city in Vancouver but I'm from Northern Ontario not too far from Timmins. I hated the weather so I went west when I was a young man of 21. Now I'm an old man of 68 with a pegasus pro 3 wheeler living right near Stanley Park. (grins) I wish I had a scooter when I was a kid up there, I wouldn't have been nearly so bored all the time. I never even had a bicycle back then. Had walk everywhere and we lived 3 miles from the nearest town population 500. YEP I was bored. But that was the 50s & 60s, ;)
I lived in Golden, BC for 15 months... absolutely beautiful and loved it! I missed all my friends though, so I came back to Ontario. The videos, up to this point are from Hanover... Ontario, not Germany. As of the beginning of February, I am now in Wingham. I grew up in a small town; not quite as small as yours. I believe the population was around 6 thousand at that time. I lived in Toronto for awhile when I was in college. I didn't mind it but way too busy for my liking. I prefer the rural areas as I'm a nature nut.
If you have not checked this out... you should. This flashlight/ZOOM-Spotlight/SOS/Strobe-light and bright area light are great. Very high-intensity spotlight and almost indestructible and high water resistant. The best flashlight I have ever seen.
If the URL doesn't work you can work it out from the modified version or just do a Google search for 'Taclight' as seen on TV (grins). I bought TWO of them. If you put TWO of them on the Monster you will be surprised at how bright they are.

I have a bunch of these. Not these exact ones, but similar. I actually use one as a headlight on my bicycle. I've used them on my old scooter as well as on the Monster. My overhead flood light replaced them. I generally have a coffee in my hand so if someone is coming toward me, I would actually have to stop to turn the light off. I use a rocker switch for the overhead light and I can turn it on or off just by tapping it with the hand that's holding the coffee. I have a miner's headlamp also that is 8000 lumens, brighter than anything I've ever seen. Isn't technology wonderful?
At the back of the scooter there's a red lever what's its purpose. Great videos by the way

I want to mount a number of things inc a camera and radio devices... I'm wondering if you have any comments?... Things like frame tube sizes seem to be reported by different people as different.. I assume it's the same build internationally?
Also, mine arrived with the seat slightly off centre, as in tilting very slightly to left... I also have a bit if wobblebin my seat... Do I have a problem or being over cautious?
It's a fantastic machine as I'm sure you already know, but as an amputee it's given me the chance to get places I haven't been for 40+ years!
I really need to mount some secure storage for accessory batteries and radio equipment, and maybe a rucksack to carry shopping and other stuff... I'd be happy to hear any suggestions!

Keep in mind, the lights you see are not The Monster's stock lighting. I've been playing around for awhile, trying to get lights that are bright enough for the camera. What finally worked was an 18 watt lightbar on top of the roll bar and a 120 watt light on the bumper. I can't determine which video it was that I talked about the lights. I have no suggestion about the tilted seat. That's a new one for me. The seat wobble in normal. Every scooter I've had does that. As for storage, I hang a backpack from the headrest. I will be altering that, hopefully soon to accommodate the two bags from my bike. If you move the seat far enough forward, you will have plenty of room between it and the roll bar to come up with some kind of storage. Maybe a plastic bin from the dollar store held on by zip ties? Enjoy your freedom. One word of warning though. Don't hit anything with the bottom of the front bumper. The bumper mount is just flat steel and is easily bent, causing the entire front end to break and bend forward. I've done it and some of my viewers have also done it. Apparently I didn't save the link. :( They aren't easy to find... you have to have the exact search term. I used the part number off the controller to find it last time. I just got out of bed. Once I'm able, I'll go out to the garage to get the number again. I found them on Amazon, Ali Express and a used one on ebay. I won't give up until I find something for you.
Sorry for the delay. I'm having a real hard time finding it now. Only a month ago, I found several options. I'm wondering, with all the crap happening in the world, if it's no longer available to Canada and that's why I'm not seeing it. If you're in the US, you may have better luck. Assuming you have the 200 amp version, search terms to use are: "D51448.06" "S Drive" "PG Drives" and possibly "B015091345". The numbers are off the controller itself and was what I used to find it the first time. I found a picture on google images for aliexpress, but when I clicked on it, it took me to a listing for the controller itself, not the programmer. I don't get it. Hopefully you can have better luck. If it comes down to it, you should be able to get one through the dealer that sold you the Monster, but they will likely charge more. Let me know if you have any luck.

It was 8 years ago when I searched for it and it took me a long time to find it. I don't know the model of my controller right now so I can't search. Sorry. There are two controllers for the Monster, 200 amp and 120 amp. I have the 200 amp but I don't know the model number. I just moved last month and have a lot to do. I just don't have the time right now.

I don't recall seeing any there. Four-wheel-drive scooters are generally individual brand. In other words that is the only scooter they make. There is a three-wheel-drive that isn't priced too bad. I paid $7,500 Canadian initially, but with all the repairs, I've practically bought it twice. It has a lot of design issues and it breaks down a lot. When it works properly, it's amazing, but it's high maintenance and parts are expensive. I no longer recommend this machine.
I have the UK vestion of this , my biggest complaint is the mirrors , as far as I am concerned they are not fit for purpose , you shouldn't have to tilt your wheel to see behind you !! ......... Here they are TGA and there customer service is useless and I told them so and neither the UK supplier want to do anything about it ............... I really can't understand why they have the attitude they have , all I can say as one of the most expensive scooters you can buy here the mirrors are totally useless , luckily most of where I use mine its in the park and I am very happy with it but as for using round the shops the ride is not good but it was designed for off road here and on that its awesome and I don't really need the mirrors but if I am on the road I don't feel safe at all because the mirrors are totally useless. I think the only way round it is to have some custom made arms for the useless mirrors when all they really need to do is to make the mirror arms longer . I was so annoyed when I realised it and considering the cost of the scooter but because it lives on my van and gets used in the parks it was some time before I tried it on the road and that was when I realised how bad the mirrors were but neither the UK distributor or my supplier are prepared to do anything about it !! ........... nice review to :)
Dave Sellwood I agree. Now that the cool, rainy season is upon us, I am now wearing a bulky jacket and, for the most part, that's all I see in the mirrors. I think the reason you aren't getting any response from the company is because this issue doesn't just concern the monster. I have yet to see a scooter with adequate mirrors... They just don't seem to exist. I am contemplating getting my welder to fabricate some for me. Good question. The Monster is quite large and you have to climb up onto it. Also, I forgot to mention in this video, there is no speed adjuster knob so there are only two speeds. I definitely wouldn't recommend it for elderly people.

Yes, the seat is very high but the center of gravity is kept low by the weight of the huge batteries. On slight angles, it leans uncomfortably due to the soft suspension but I've never come close to actually tipping it over. I know for sure that I've had it on a 30° angle. It likely helps that my weight fluctuates between 110-130 pounds though. A 200-300 pound person may have a different experience as there would be more weight "up high." As for transportation, the dealer rented a u-haul trailer to bring it to me so, yes, it is quite large and won't fit in a standard vehicle. A full-size van would likely work but the roll bar would need to be removed to lower the height. The purchase price when I bought it back in 2016 was $7,200 CAN (still paying for it...). After all the design issues I've identified and finding out it's high maintenance, I believe this scooter was a concept that was never fully tested before it was made available to the public.
@@TheTimeCapturer HI from the UK :) I had the Pride Ranger for the so called 'Off Road' spec, but kept getting flat tyres/came of rim in the middle of nowhere. Was looking for Scooters that had solid tyres & there was only 2 i could get in the UK. Looked at your original video from 2016 & came close to choosing it because of the height/me being 6'1, but went for the TGA Breeze S4/solid tyres :) No more being stranded but yes, breeze so much lower sitting :(
@@clivechurchman9776 The Monster's tires are good and bad. Bad because the wideness causes the tubes to spread out more and makes them very prone to punctures. However, they are good because, being low profile, I'm able to drive home on a flat without the tire coming off the rim. I've had to drive on a flat many times and have never had one come off the rim. My old, basic scooter, on the other hand. if I got a flat with it, the tires would come off almost immediately and the wheelie bar would rest on the ground, preventing it from moving. Solid tires definitely won't go flat but they will sacrifice comfort... not a problem if you only drive on hard surfaces.

You do good videos, only your audio needs alot of help. Intro music too loud, your voice audio is way too low (I noticed this is because you have a soft voice) and wind noise is really bad when you combine that with your soft voice. Maybe whatever you use to edit your videos can allow you to do voice over, and not use the actual real time audio. But really good videos,thanks. Been watching some of your other videos too. Good job, just work on the audio a little.
Thank you, mxv 2015, for your critique. I didn't realize the intro music was too loud. I thought it just seemed that way due to the rest of the audio being too quiet. I'll take care of that in future videos. The voice problem has been haunting me for awhile now. I can make it louder during processing but it gets horribly distorted. I've been thinking of getting a clip-on microphone but, because none of my cameras have a mic input, I'd need some kind of audio recorder. Maybe someone can suggest options here as I have no experience with it. I have been doing voice-over with other videos and, while being somewhat successful, I still can't seem to get it as loud as it needs to be without distorting it. I'm not used to being in front of the camera and I think my biggest issue is being afraid someone will hear me, so I tend to talk quieter. Once I get past that, I'll be more comfortable talking louder. I think the clip-on mic and voice recorder will be my best option but that'll have to wait until spring when my finances improve. The Monster is quite heavy and, in my opinion, the motor is too small. Every 2 years, I need to replace it... or the transaxle. Of course, I drive every day, summer and winter, often it's full range and there are a lot of hills here to climb. Thankfully, because I'm on gov assistance, they pay for the parts, however I have to do all the work myself. I love and hate The Monster. When it works, it's an amazing machine. Would I buy another? Maybe a used one. I know what design issues to fix right away.
I should also state that many of my YT followers have a Monster and nearly all have had the same issues as me and some have been worse. In many cases, they only drive occasionally. A good indication it's not my driving situation that causes the issues. The Monster has many design issues, most of which I have fixed now.

Good eye. I drove through this sand daily with no issues. The morning that I made this video, I got stuck three times before finally making it through. It was a cool morning with heavy dew and I think the dampness was what made the difference as the front wheels seemed to be sticking to it, making the back wheels spin.

Hi I want to take it from this. my financial situation is bad. This is my car with my physical disability and my dream.I would have liked that much from this.
I regret buying this scooter. It looks pretty and that's why I bought it. I found no reviews ahead of time, only dealers driving it in a parking lot. It is high maintenance, unreliable, and has definite design issues. I am one of the lucky ones apparently. Other people have had really bad luck with theirs. My problems have been recent. In August 2017, the motor failed. I had a lot of fun with it up to that point. Unfortunately, I can't get just a replacement motor... I have to replace the entire rear axle with brake and motor. Six months later, I'm still waiting for the parts to arrive. Once it's fixed, I will only use it as an occasional use machine. It's too bad because it really is a nice machine. My videos are still way behind and haven't caught up to the point where it breaks down but, if you look at the multitude of videos I have, showing the problems that I've faced with it, you can get a bit of an idea why I no longer trust it. I'm so glad I kept my old scooter as a backup. It's seven years old and still going strong. :)

LOL! I have the extra light now. Super capacitor makes me laugh because I actually bought one to experiment with. It was for use somewhere else but The Monster may be a good guinea pig due to it's heavy weight. But, being only 12v, I would need two to operate on 24V.

There are a lot of design issues, even electrical. I've been able to fix a lot of them when they show up but it just seems it was a prototype that was rushed onto the market without being properly tested. It's a great machine when it's working properly.
It still surprises me how many people call the bar at the rear a roll bar. This bar is not a roll bar, it is to secure a walker or wheelchair to the back of the scooter.
This not a normal scooter, it's an all-terrain scooter. This is the only scooter I've seen with an actual roll bar. I know what you're referring to but this isn't that. If you check the description on Heartway's website or EV Rider's website, the manufacturer even calls it a roll bar.

Sorry for the late response... very very busy after the move. I can't find your question regarding why I use the scooter... maybe you deleted it? I have fibromyalgia which causes me to get exhausted very quickly. Walking any great distance is very difficult. The scooters are only for transportation. I'm still a fully licensed driver so, if I could afford it, I'd be driving a car; although the scooters allow me to enjoy places I couldn't with a car, such as the trails. As per the speed laws, they differ per country. Having said that, I'm not aware of what Canada's speed limits are but I'm sure the Monster exceeds it. Driving on the sidewalk or on the road is a judgement call, depending on where I am. There are places I won't drive on the road and places I won't drive on the sidewalk. Everywhere else depends on weather, traffic, my health state, time of day, which scooter I'm using and many other factors. Driving a scooter, I'm classed as a pedestrian. When I drive on the sidewalks, I use pedestrian laws. When I drive on the roads, I use traffic laws. I understand, when I'm on the road, I should be on the left and I have tried it, but it feels too unnatural to me. Thank you for your comments.

I won't argue that... I agree. There are two reasons for it. This video was made just after I started actually talking to the camera. I felt quite awkward. The other reason is I have fibromyalgia and if you know anything about it, you'll know it affects the thought process and memory, making it difficult at times to even complete a sentence without pausing. I'll always have this illness, I can't do anything about that, but I've improved a great deal as far as being comfortable in front of the camera so my newer videos are much better. There are a lot of things I'd like to do over in this video.
