all that confirms is that: 1) they did not let their mother suffer by bringing her back as a monster and 2) human transmutation was never going to work because at most it brings back a generic living human, it does not bring back a SPECIFIC living human
its creates a human without a soul, which is bound to die and not exist. No soul that is not assigned to a body remain just like Al's soul
In addition to that, human transmutation will pull the soul out of the nearest living human to compensate for the lack of a soul, which is why Ed's soul was pulled out.
FMA 03 changes this a little but that's spoiler territory for that series.

I don't see the relation between "it wasn't mom" and "al , your body is behind the gate" . Hohenhein talk about this like something important and it doesn't make sense at all . And al said that he agrees to live in armor because everybody treat him normally and that it doesn't matter that his soul can be rejected by armor because it's like anyone conditions (everybody can die by illness or by an accident)and what that bothers him is to sleep alone , but isn't al can't be hungry , he can't sense any smell , he can't feel anything with his new body , the only thing he can do is to see , to hear and move isn't normal for a kid (even intelligent) to agree with that .
And I notice that I try to enjoy the show .

They didn't bring anything to life. Edward and Alphonse only had the components needed to make a human body, but that doesn't mean it was going to turn into their mother. All they made was a deformed, incomplete body. It wasn't a person.

I totally get it because I felt the same exact way, and Honeheim is a shit dad to Ed and Al, but fuck man I love him by the end of the series and it’s hard to hear people hate on him so much in these episodes. Like I said though, I definitely felt the same way until I got to the Flashback.

I might be being sexist but I feel like lines like Winry noting Ed’s broad shoulders (as opposed to a more obvious attraction like him being more handsome or adult to her) are due to this being written by a woman. I feel like even male writers who don’t write shitty female characters still fall into dumb tropes and basic attractions to male characters (or no attraction at all). Winry is a great balance of clowning on Ed while slowly realizing she loves him. And I feel like no dude could have written her that well.
I could be wrong, and the author of FMA is a brilliant writer regardless of gender.

The fact that we have been gifted 2 anime series (FMA03 & FMAB) make this one of the best series ever. Both animes have pros and cons; all opinions are preferential. It's fun to watch both :)
