Loved this podcast! I have double vision now. I have no vision in left eye very small tunnel in right. In stores it's awful because someone pushing a cart I have to completely stop because I can't see how to get around them because my vision basically drags what I'm looking at somewhere else its so weird 😅
@lucyedwards I am such a fan of yours. I am freaking out because your replied to me and you made my night !! I wanted to congratulate you and Ollie on getting married !! I started dating my husband at age 14 well I was 3 months shy of my 15 th birthday and we been together ever since. We got married at age 20 and didn't have our first baby until I was 27 we had fertility issues I have pcos and endometriosis. I went threw 5 ivf cycles and finally had my son then when he was 11 months old we wanted to have another child we did another ivf and got blessed with twins !! They were born early at 32 weeks. They were born before my first child turned 2 I had 3 children under the age of 2 and at times it was hard but we did it without help from family and friends. I was so busy I would breast feed every 2 to 3 hours and started potty training my oldest and now they are teenagers. Time goes by so fast. ❤️❤️
I was born sighted but when i was 2 and a half i lost 90% of it (due to hydrocephulas aka fluid on the brain which i have a shunt for). ( i don't remember being sighted). I have dealt with 10% in 1 eye and less than 1% of sight in the other for over 24 years (i'm 26, nearly 27). (Can lose all sight at any point. Condition is optic nerve atrophy, nystagmus, lone lazy eye and red eyes whi can't be cured. Have had eye drops since birth: day and night). Many people can't tell i'm registered blind till i mention it : despite my appearance. I loathe using my cane. have had one since i was in primary school (short cane and then switched to long cane). I don't see myself as disabled although i look and know that i am. (If that makes sense). I applied for a guide dog twice but denied both times due to "too many medical conditions, it's not fair on the dog". I love going out but i don't go as often as i should due to my sight and how arrogant / judgemental my area is. I applied for a guide dog because i want to go out more independently (usually walk or use a taxi so would be good to learn to utulise other mode of transport) and feel more confident/secure when i do. Due to my medical issues amd the fact that i don't go out 7 days a week: they said that it would not be fair on the pup as they need to be walked twice a day , everyday etc. Understandable but upsetting. Last year i was going out more 2 or 3 times a week and walking 1-3 miles (i have mobility issues which flare when i walk too much. (Tripping and my ankles twisting on their own causing sprains). I also get monthly migraines 1-3 times a month usually. I am 10 weeks PO surgery on one foot, other one will be done when this ones healed. (Deformity and degenerative artheritis in the ankles). My goal this year was to start travelling on my own via train or plane which has been halted till both surgeries are done. Anywho. In terms of relationships: it's hard. Not only am i registered blind , 90% independent. I am also in the LGBT community and have a plethora of other physical medical conditions : some visible and some invisible. Some are also not diagnosed yet. I have tried online dating multiple times and it just never worked. I had my friend Jamie canceled last minute so did Joe's friend Adam now I never meet Adam he was a set up and Joe lived on my friend Jamie aunts street. I would sleep over Jamie's house alot we went to catholic school together and on a Friday if I was going to sleep over I go home with her and on Fridays her mom would always go the the aunts house Jamie's grandmother lived there too and we have pizza and then we were always made to play outside if the weather was nice. We started playing ding dong ditch with the kid where lived across the street who was Joe..lol so now you know how I knew Joe. I knew him for like 3 years I just never had the hots for him or talked about him to my younger sisters. So when our dates cancled Joe said let's not let a good night go to waist would you like to go out with me ? And I said yes and had a great time ! We started dating from that night on and all threw high-school and got married at 20 he turned 21 we had a hard time getting pregnant we started trying on our wedding night and tryed on our own for a few years and no luck I had tests down and found out I had endometriosis and pcos. I went threw 3 iui's which is inner uterine insemination and no luck then started our ivf journey I had gone threw 5 ivf cycles and 3 bad miscarriages to finally have our son he was conceived on the 5th ivf cycle and he was such a good baby and when he was 11 months old we wanted to have another baby and since it took us years to have him we started another ivf cycle and got pregnant with twins a boy and a girl and now they have grown so fast and we just celebrated our 23 wedding anniversary!!
