Ah, I remember watching my dad play Max Payne 2, he kinda has a bad attitude so I didn't like spending time with him even back then but that was such a memorable moment for me. I've never thought of games being something you can show to your kids, kinda like how you could show them old cartoons you watched, and not only show but also experience them together. If I will still be playing games after becoming a father, I'll make sure to play the old ones with the kids. Thanks for sharing this, it warms my heart a little.
Well, there is not a clear golden age in videogames. Some people say it was when the PS1 was released and the 3D graphics rose, others say it was back in the middle 80s when the NES saved the videogame industry, and others say that the golden age is now, with the rise of the indie games in the last years
I love the isolated and desolate feel of the old games, but the reboot games are great too. I feel like her character is developed so much better in the reboots
I do as a matter of fact you can download all of the Tomb Raider soundtracks on Tomb Raider Chronicles, Nathan composed the 1st 3 games so if you are interested here www.tombraiderchronicles.com/soundtrack/index.html

I still remember that low res photo in Lara's passport, in the main menu. And the far too big, far too empty and lifeless Croft Manor. I was obsessed back then, I wanted to go "beyond" the threshold and literally dive into this game with its lore, expanding on it. It was 80% due to the main theme, indeed a phenomenal composition!
***** True, but honestly I am okay with the adult life. Keeping that whimsical childlike wonder makes it much easier to work with, even during the dark times. Kinda what this song describes to me in its sound, wonder with some hard times that eventually are overcome through persistence and positive attitude.

All I think about is, my sisters and I trying to solve these levels & if we had trouble we’d shout “Daaaaad!” And he’d come sitting on his knees or on a couch - it was always one of those two & he’s always been able to solve them. If he ever had trouble we’d spend almost all night trying to solve it. Memories that will forever live in my heart. We are all still huge fans 😍☺️
Such a beautiful opening to such an amazing and memorable theme... so somber, elegant and mysterious all at the same time.. My oldest sister used to play this game all the time while we we're growing up, hearing this theme at the main menu use to brighten up my day... I miss her oh so dearly, may she RIP.. love and miss you sis
You have no idea how deep this theme carved into my mind, it is still the best theme of the series, purely magical and full of mysteries. Whenever the game play the theme in some section ingame, goosebumps!
I watched my brother and my dad playing this game when i was 6. i always got spooked when they were underwater like in the Cistern and when they fought the great Atlantean beast But when i came back i always seen them either winning or getting out of the level. It was a great game and i'm glad i have it on PSN. it brings back a lot of childhood memories of gaming. its a very very iconic classic
I am twelve. I know I haven't yet savoured the true nostalgia, but I used to play this with my uncle, (my PS1 was in his house) every weekend when I went there. I remember being stuck in the Lost Valleys, and him suddenly making a breakthrough in the Tomb of Qualopec. It's been five years since I found the four keys from the four rooms. (Thor, Neptune, Atlas and Damocles). I can still remember standing on the golden hand of Midas, before our memory card malfunctioned. We have never, to this day, found a way to the statue of Midas again. And this theme, just make me wanna say - "Uncle Glyn, we still haven't finished Tomb Raider, so let's go do it!" I had better stop typing now before I short circuit my keyboard with my own tears.......
There is still a long trip ahead, but you'll manage it! The golden hand of Midas is the toughest level in the game because it has a puzzle that it's little hard to solve if you don't really use your brains or ain't lucky.
I can't even begin to tell you how serene it feels to hear this. Of all the games to be the very first video game you ever played, I'm so glad it was this one.

Remember that you’re still that same kid but in a different looking body and these game are still out there for you to play them whenever you want. I’ve already bought all the classics on steam and just beat the second one. Thank you Lara! 🖤🖤🖤
Funny. How something like this can bring back a memory, I was 17 it was snowing outside, I just remember looking out at the church in the distance, as it got more covered with this playing in the background - had both my parents back then, strange how something can take you back so suddenly. I just might be getting old and nostalgic, but I can't help but think that none of the modern games out right now have that same iconic feel to them. I mean, you knew you were part of something HUGE when playing Tomb Raider, Resident Evil, Half-Life and many other titles. When did everyone stop making these amazing atmospheric adventures with souls? Sure, there some great games out there like The Last of Us but those are few and far between.
I'll tell you what it is! Complexity when it comes to challenge, simplicity when it comes to creativity! Old games were hard and challenging (sometimes unapologetically!), yet were simple at its design (geometry of old game worlds were engaging and easy to follow no matter how challenging and hard gameplay is...)...today everyone try hard to make everything as complex as possible in an attempt to win a race to make it as replicate to real life as possible! Old games never tried to achieve that...not saying they weren't aiming to be revolutionary or groundbreaking, but making everything too overly complicated surely wasn't main goal! These days you can't find people, who wouldn't talk about realism and stuff and this is honestly boring...we forgot what video games were supposed to be about on the first place...it's a healthy combination of fun and challenge! That is what makes games enaging! That is not without trying to make it as atmospheric as possible off course as its very important too...
I'm just 14 years old, so I know I will never known how feels the true nostalgia that the most of you have when you hear this song but.. I just played Tomb Raider in a PS1 because my father Introduced me to. I played with him when I was 3 years ( obviusly he helped me ) and I have a HUGE respect of this saga. Lara Croft is my favourite videogame character and I love her in all her versions. This song and the most of the soundtrack of the game are a masterpiece.
You don't have to be any particular age to enjoy this music or the original games. I was only a toddler when the first one came out. And it was only thanks to my cousins' massive video game library that I knew about it at all. They had all the cool games my siblings and I weren't allowed to play!
@@FranBillan Man I didn’t even realize your original post was 9 years ago until just now. Good to see you still around and well almost a decade later continuing to enjoy these relics of the past.
The most recent tomb raider game was great in my opinion, but I agree with you, the days of quality over quantity are more or less gone. There are still pockets of it though...
On the contrary according to the TRA unlockable commentaries this game was actually pretty rushed. And I remember interviews of employees back then who talked about they were pressured to make a TR game for every xmas resulting in them attempting to kill her off in 4. In that respect back then Tomb Raider was the CoD of it's time, people just remember it more fondly.
Right there with you, im 35 now, have 2 kids of my own, and i come back to listen to this track every so often, purely because the music itself was so impacted on my as a kid/teen - I can literally remember every moment in my room, what i was doing, everything, just playing this in the background. I wish you all the luck and success in the new life were in now!
There are times I feel a need for adventure away from the mundaneness of life and almost 30 years later, this pops in my mind. If I had a chance to tell the developers of this game, I’d tell them: Thank you. Your job, your often times “mundaneness” of making this wonderful game and franchise was not for vain. We’re here, and you made an impact on us after all this time. We still have an urge for adventure.
I want this played at my funeral. I said it. It suits every ounce of when that moment is to come, and to know this era shaped my childhood. So bittersweet and Never fails to bring me to tears.
I remember the exact moment I first played this game in 1997. I was 10. It was at my neighbours' house in Luzira, Kampala. We would all gather about and play all holiday long.
This music would play occasionally when you discovered a new area. I didn't know whether to be intimidated or excited. Great times. Dark souls is the closest experience i've had to a similar atmosphere in a game since. That's been about it.
I remember playing this game as a 14 year old that was lost in addiction and was in trouble with the law. This music gave me peace when I was lost. Thank you for sharing.
I was still a baby when my father played this game . Later he told me about it and got me into the series He would say this music was relaxing for him when he is done from an intense gameplay session or been through a tough work . He also said that sometimes that he would wake up in the night because he figured a way to pass a puzzle . Good times
I turn 40 this year. And OMG wha an absolute privilege that Tomb Raider was the first game I played on the PlayStation . 25 amazing years later it’s still my favourite and the music is incredibly atmospheric. They don’t make them like this anymore
Well I'll admit it. Im internally crying like a flipping baby. I remember this being the first franchise I ever played, the game that got me into games, and wow... I just..... Wow.... I need a hug.
Completely forgot I left this comment. In the last 6 years I've reignited my passion for these games and played through them multiple times ♥️. Right now I'm playing through them with my dad like we did when I was a kid.
23 years. Still the most iconic female character in gaming. Makes me feel old though, I’m 23 myself and this is just memories growing up for me man. Damn
One of THE most beautiful and moving pieces of music I've EVER heard...and, it was written for a video game. I remember the frustrations..and then, the triumphs of getting from level to level because I HAD to see what was up around that bend. The song is absolutely gorgeous and I could listen to it over and over! Luckily, I have 2 and 3 to listen to and like just as much. A beautiful theme in all of its forms. The whole soundtrack is interesting to listen to and I remember it being one of only a handful of Sony discs that you could play outside of the system. Doom (which is also badass!) was the same as were the sequels here..but, not too many else. I'm sure my friends here will be able to add to that list - as they too, are from my generation if they can remember what I'm talking about. A beautiful piece that I'm gonna go listen to another 100 times..😁 Thank you very much indeed for the upload!
In 2002, I was about 7 years old I discovered my grandmother and her husband had a ps1 in the guest room- inside was TR1. Whenever I visited I’d watched her play.. When I was older she let me have the game. I’m now a big fan of Lara. So much my uncle asked his gf at the time to call and pretend she was Lara wishing me a happy birthday lol I found out it wasn’t Lara but I didn’t care because it felt so real in the moment.
My name is Lara because of this game. I used to watch my dad play it until I was old enough to play too. This song has been stuck in my head for a looooong time. Thanks for uploading it!
This theme brings me back to the time when I was in high school studying all day for tests , and playing Tomb Raider between breaks. It bribgs back old memories.
RockBandAddict666 never forgot a moment of this game when I was younger, don't get that same buzz and feel like the old games but the music is 50% of why we still love and remember these games
I believe they put as much love and passion into games as great movies in the days they had to really standout at the dawn of the gaming race. Makes me remember those moments of awe and wonder at seeing things like the first Jurassic Park. They desensitized us with sequel after sequel of mediocre games. Thank you for the upload. So great. I cried. 😢. I was just spending my night listening to the original Myst soundtrack and this popped in my head.
I remember watching my older cousin play this religiously over the summer of ‘97. I was glued to it. I got my PS1 for Christmas the same year and the same cousin bought me this. The best memories
How wonderful, my heart will always remain there. They were carefree and carefree years, I miss them very much. The beginning of everything, how many hours passed🖤🖤😪
My childhood right here...I've been playing since I was 3 years old! They've ruined her in the new games, it may aswell be a whole different character :'(
I really wish they'd kept her original look-that was Lara! I could recognize her instantly. I'm getting the first game soon, teleporting myself back to childhood. I remember playing the first one & having tons of fun just running around in the TUTORIAL level. It was amazing to me. :)
Rebecca Argent I am crying to hard that I want her back, just LETS FINISH THE GAME OUR SELFS!!! WE ARE ON OUR WAY TO SAVE YOU!!!! WE WILL TRY!!!! PLEASE DON'T LOOK OLD LOOK YOUNG LIKE WE REMEMBER YOU!!! WE ARE SORRY!!!!!!! WE ARE COMMING AFTER YOU LARA!!! (Wtf is wrong with me?)
One of my favourite game series, for its music, graphics, story and bringing us the most badass female character in a video game!! She’s truly legendary
Ohh boy, this one hits me right in the feels. This theme takes me right back to late 1997, which is when I discovered TR as an 11 year old boy. I used to listen to this theme on a loop, it's strange how it made me feel nostalgic/melancholic even back then. Now as a 36-year-old it's even more emotional than before and still just as magical.
I grew up with ps2 games like the old gtas, ratchet and clank, jak and daxter, medal of honor and so on. I did finish the survival trilogy of tomb raider a few years ago but I never had played the old classic games before. I just finished this game here and man this theme is so special… every tine I started up the game I would spend atleast 4min to hear this from beginning to end. Its not nostalgia for me it is indeed just beautiful.
Anyone who disliked this has obviously NEVER played this when they were younger and could appreciate its true beauty.l am 37 and played this when it came out. l was like 13. and the first one is what made me LOVE the series. All the first 5 classics from the PS1 represent the BEST gaming l had ever in my childhood. Back when games were simplistic but yet amazed you at the same time. l still love gaming now. but l think its amazing to see what gaming evolution has done from when l was a kid, to what we have now. But that being said, NOTHING will erase the amazing memories and times l had playing Tomb Raider from the old school days on PS1. they truly are beautiful, and have alot of heart and care that was put into them.
My dad bought me Tomb Raider Chronicles back then at Blockbuster when I was about 8 or 9. I remember I never got to pass the streets of Rome, it was so difficult to me but I had a lot of fun getting attacked by the dogs, and the music oh boy the music to that game stayed in me forever, now 31 still got the games somewhere but not much time to play
thank you ...was here 1995-1996 a small Dreamcast console who open my eyes to the world ....almost one week without sleep ...with many around ...and now ....
I remember the 1996 when i touch ( the very first time ) psx at my friend's house and the first game was the demo of Tomb Raider and that music in background... it was so magical mix of childchood and ( after mega drive / genesis ) touch of new kind of technology. It was so realistic, i remember when Lara goes swimming under the water when you dive, thoes underwater "lights" effects so realistic back then... so nostalgic and nintendo 64 XD.... sorry for my English.
One of the most beautifully music ever, like Hans Zimmer - Inception , Timeless, speechless, This song reminds me of my childhood, Im 28 now, damn time goes fast
I can remember watching my Mum and brother playing this through when I was little on the Sega Saturn :) I loved watching them play it. Everytime I tried to myself I just couldn't do it because I found it too hard but now I'm older, I've bought this on the PSN store and I WILL finish it even if it kills me! XD I love all of the old Tomb Raider's but no. 2 is my all time favourite.
I remember my mother would play this game with me when I was a child, now I'm playing it with my daughter. The feeling is unexplainable
Aw :') never sell that game please.
I remember playing it as a child, now I don’t play it and ain’t got kids :(

Dlc can be a good thing.

What you just described there when you were 3. That IS that feeling. The things that take you back to different times in your life.
@@wolfrun23 9 years later this soundtrack keeps hitting like a truck specially with the remasters release!
@@FranBillan Man I didn’t even realize your original post was 9 years ago until just now. Good to see you still around and well almost a decade later continuing to enjoy these relics of the past.
...from the days of Quality OVER Quantity. They will NEVER make a game like this again!
The most recent tomb raider game was great in my opinion, but I agree with you, the days of quality over quantity are more or less gone. There are still pockets of it though...
NEVER !
why couldn't they use this masterpiece for the latest tomb raider I'll never know
cristhianfs cause nothing beats the original i suppose :)
When I read that Nathan made this whole Tomb Raider 1 music in 4WEEKS???? WTF
All this masterpieces in 1 month, extraordinary!
Channeled.
I miss to those days when I still kid and play tomb raider
Now.. I'm 30 years old
Everything is different..
But I still remember
and crying 😢 💔
So true !
@@diro9655
Thank u so much ..💕
I wish you a happy life
There are times I feel a need for adventure away from the mundaneness of life and almost 30 years later, this pops in my mind.
Hey, I remember that! It really added to the wonder of discovering a new place. Gosh, these games were so beautiful and atmospheric.
I remember playing this game as a 14 year old that was lost in addiction and was in trouble with the law. This music gave me peace when I was lost. Thank you for sharing.
Peace 😢
Closed my eyes listening to this and the memories as a teenager playing tomb raider brought a smile to my face.
I was still a baby when my father played this game . Later he told me about it and got me into the series
He would say this music was relaxing for him when he is done from an intense gameplay session or been through a tough work .
I always listen to the full theme before carrying on with my saved game.
Masterpiece...
Well I'll admit it. Im internally crying like a flipping baby. I remember this being the first franchise I ever played, the game that got me into games, and wow... I just..... Wow.... I need a hug.
Wow.. this nostalgia is bittersweet. My entire childhood involved these games. I think they deserve another playthrough.. 🙏
Damn
This gives me chills every time
One of THE most beautiful and moving pieces of music I've EVER heard...and, it was written for a video game.
My very first favorite tomb raider song ever since playstation 1!!!!😘💖💕💋I use to watch my mom play this too as a kid!!!
My heart jumps everytime I hear this melody. Childhood memories invade my mind... ❤❤❤ I've played her since I was around 7 years old. ☺️
Remaster time!!!
This start screen really set the mood for the game you where about to play. Unforgettable. Thank-you.
This music reminds me that my childhood is over.
Beautiful and Cute.
This theme brings me back to the time when I was in high school studying all day for tests , and playing Tomb Raider between breaks. It bribgs back old memories.
The most beautiful video game's music ever
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR HAVING BROUGHT BACK WITH THE REMASTERED THESE MASTERPIECES
Exploration. Adventure. Glory. Inquisitiveness. Peace.
All from one piece of music.
I simply love tomb raider, and this song is so nostalgic for me 😍
Can't believe it's been 20 years. I was 9 when this came out!
RockBandAddict666 omg time flies so quickly
RockBandAddict666 never forgot a moment of this game when I was younger, don't get that same buzz and feel like the old games but the music is 50% of why we still love and remember these games
I cant Believe I was born the same year as this game.
RockBandAddict666 I was 11
wow......i was 18..... This game took my heart......... Masterpiece
I keep coming back to this theme every so often. The magic of it never wears off.
Simply perfect!
Will ever be a piece of Tomb Raider for me!Good memories with it!
I remember playing this game with my dad when I was little such great memories and better times, this is by far my favorite tomb raider theme
LETS ASK THE PEOPLE WHO MADE WELL FAN MADE TOM BRAIDER GAMES, AND COMMUNICATE WITH THEM IF THE CAN HELP US ALL TO FINISH THE GAME THE RIGHT WAY!!!! LARA!!! HOLD ON!!!
It's resonating in my soul.. 😢
It's so simple yet so heart warming.
I know nothing of the game, yet this song has still touched me. I'm a writer, and this song helped inspire one of my best pieces.
tidying my room to this makes me feel like literally raiding a tomb
TR1-3 REMASTERED COMING 14TH FEBRUARY 2024!
The T-Rex has to be one of those moments you will never forget. Simply the best game ever made.
This brings me right back to when I was 7 years old... it’s so refreshing to hear and think of how simple and easy life was. Awesome song.
When I die, I wish to hear this theme on the road to heaven, knowing every childhood memory still lives on.
It's so peaceful and soothing.
that last 30 seconds tho! Chills down my back!
This game bring back so many memories. :)
TR should be displayed at museum cuz it is unprecedented piece of art.
This is the best theme!
thank you ...was here 1995-1996 a small Dreamcast console who open my eyes to the world ....almost one week without sleep ...with many around ...and now ....
Ahh, 3 years since the last comment we're all getting old..... One of the best theme's for tomb raider..... still here>>>
I remember the 1996 when i touch ( the very first time ) psx at my friend's house and the first game was the demo of Tomb Raider and that music in background... it was so magical mix of childchood and ( after mega drive / genesis ) touch of new kind of technology.
I love how an action hero like Lara has such a beautiful and gentle sounding theme.
This song always sends shivers down my spine. I love the beginning and ending the most. So masterfully crafted.
