Say you have no knowledge about origin, without actually saying it.
QLD dominated for years with Inglis, Boyd (both fullbacks) playing in on the centre and wing. NSW played Turbo Mitchell (both fullbacks) in the centre position in 2021 and it was the most dominant origin series of all time, as all three games were played in QLD.
QLD even played with Michael Morgan in the centres in the 2019 series. Get your facts right.

Latrell Mitchell played centre at roosters, he went to Souths and played fullback, then all of a sudden people are making fun of NSW for selecting him at Centre. Look at Turbo’s form as a centre in origin, so I don’t understand the hate towards the selection.
As long as Madge doesn’t pick 7 fullbacks in the one team and give the #14 8 minutes of game time, I’ll be happy

It would be ironic if Wighton got chosen at 5/8. He played 5/8 for years, won the Dally M, Clive Churchill in a losing team, and was overlooked time and again. The moment he starts playing center he gets chosen at 5/8 for NSW.
It's just timing.. they picked luai when wighton was better suited purely cos fittler wanted combos and blues were hard favorites and still dropped a couple series. Now they don't have that luxury.
@@user-xy9ut8gi5f The first one to be picked over Wighton was Walker, because he had 5 or 6 good games for Souths the Year after Wighton won all the awards. Jack is one of the most suited players for Origin going around, he's just never had a good opportunity to show it when he was in form.
@paythepiper6283 wighton was in form before that... besides form, he's a natural origin player and he progresses from being a tough full back without much IQ to avg centre to a very decent center with a dangerous Kick.. to an okay half that improved every week and took the raiders to a GF. Sure Luai and walker and Moses were doing more at club land, but wighton had always been more of an origin player than all of them

My problem with Jack Wighton is he signed with the Bunnies for heaps less money than his worth and being offered to resign with Canberra. At the time South's were a top team in the league and everyone was asking why the NRL would allow it and same excuse was used. "He's retired from rep footy he's worth less now"
He signed his big contract as five eight though. He's playing centre in a full strength Bunnies team. What you would pay a five eight and what you would pay a centre is entirely different and that's the same if Wighton is playing at the Raiders. He would never have got a million dollar contract playing centre.

Tbh Mitchell in the centres is a good call. Plays with mongrel. Genuine match winner. And he has 6 tries in 7 games for the Blues. Needs no further justification.

I'd say if he picks him, he'll be 7. Made doesn't strike me as a coach that will stick players in out of their regular position. Much more confident in Madge than Fittler, whatever he does

@@jeffreyallsopp Except that's not what happened. You don't know Penrith well enough. Yeo went off concussed at the same time as Luai. Cogger actually took on the role that Yeo normally does, varying between ball running and passing. Cogger didn't replace Luai, another forward replaced Luai numerically, and Cleary played both his own role and Luai's switching from one side of the field to the other. Putting Hynes between Yeo and Cleary would be nuts.

Nico Hynes is probably the second or third best option at 5/8. His bad decision making and errors have been masked by the fact that his team has been winning (against extremely week competition btw). They've probably had the weakest draw to start the season.
The best choice at 6 has to be Moses if he's healthy. His kicking game is one of the best in the league and will take pressure off Cleary. He's a dangerous runner with the ball, and is strong defensively.
Also the blues should steer away from relying too heavily on the Penrith connection because it is too easy to game plan against. Looking at the grand final last year, the broncos had penrith on the ropes until Isaiah Yeo went off. Cleary at first receiver instead of going through Yeo offered a much more potent and unpredictable attack.
Lastly, the blues forward pack really need to step up their game... The maroons forward pack last year consistently got over the advantage line and got quick plays of the ball despite their lack of size.
Playing NRL is like being on Centrelink you get paid to do F.A.

Sounds like Dlyan Edwards is getting the number 1 on his back for the blues, and well deserved and over due. Teddys is infuriating to watch for origin (ball hog who runs sideways all game and doesn’t have a clue about tactics and work rate) and seems bad captain aswell.
It was criminal last year playing Tedesco in the dead runner when they had a chance to road test Edwards. Nothing turned on that third game, so what was the point of playing Tedesco?

I've thought the same thing the last few years. For his physique, Haas should be crushing it in Origin, but Qld pack has dominated NSW the last two seasons. The Grand final showed what Haas is capable of in big games, and if he can play to his GF level NSW go a long way towards winning.
