Something about this song, whether because of just how old it is or the way it’s presented in the game, an old vinyl being the last thing left of the long gone humanity and now used by terminals to make symbiotic relationships with machines by acting on them on subliminal levels makes me feel a certain feeling, mysterious, anxious yet incredibly soothing. Like I’m being nostalgic over something that doesn’t even exist.
it reminds me of Gay Robot Sex
It's called "anemoia"
Wait a minute. MASSIVE LORE IMPLICATIONS!
you know what, i wonder why it was a record and not a tape or cd, there has to be some reason right, or maybe not.
@@Beowolf-jy5rc I said this in my own comment, so I'll just paste it here:
with the revelation that the final war in ULTRAKILL was essentially an extended World War I, a vinyl of this song being used to test the terminals, and the terminals subsequently using this song to lure the machines would mean that culture is stuck in the early 20th century because that's when the war broke out...

Edit: There is a confusing mystery going on. This isn't Russ Morgan at all.
I’m pretty sure the one in the game files isn’t crackly. I was looking through the audio files as I needed the combat and ambient tracks of the game for a dynamic music doom mod I was making. While I was searching I found a few shop themes (they were basically parts cut out of this song) and a couple of theme had the first bits of vocals in theme. If my memory serves me right, there was no crackling so I’d ask hakita how he managed to get it like that. That’s IF I’m right. for everyone who is wondering what the hell the comments are talking about, a part of this song is used in a video game called "Ultrakill" as a song that plays in the game's shop
the game itself is incredibly fast paced and packed with raw adrenaline so this song is a really nice break from all of that which is why most of the comments are talking about it
All jokes aside, this is a really nice song. Catchy, sweet, and gives enough time for both vocal and instrumental sections.

I wouldn't be surprised if the entirety of this song plays at the end of the game/during the ending credits. Especially considering the terminals only play the entirety to the ones they really like. And given that further excerpts of this song play after prime sanctums and in the "thanks for playing, stay tuned for further updates" screen (aka. after V1 completes noteworthy or just a lot of challenges), it only makes sense. this song’s about being disappointed by love. about being promised many things that turned out not to be true.

Ah, the sweet sound of making the perfect pistol.
the terminal at the end of p-1 says that sometimes, the terminals play the vocal section of the song after being fixed and there's no one else around to hear it, which leads me to believe that the very last one you encounter at the end of treachery is going to play the full version as it displays the credits, while you slowly shut down from lack of blood

The godliest sample ever
As someone who has used it, that's true
The elevator room terminals are an advanced interconnected network built for the purpose of transferring materials and tools between different areas. They are capable of transferring physical material as information across a radio signal, which other terminals can receive and use to reconstruct the sent object. The original item is lost, as it is transformed into the energy that is used to transmit the material information, and the process is quite slow due to the amount of information that physical matter holds.
An early test of a matter transfer's accuracy was a mint condition 78rpm vinyl record, which was sent from the lab to all connected terminals. The vinyl was a single of Russ Morgan Orchestra's recording of the piece Were You Foolin' (a favorite of the CRO), though the label was removed to reduce the amount of matter to be transferred.
Soon after, the Hell exploration and excavation project was abandoned and this vinyl record remained the only matter to have been succesfully transferred before connection between the surface and the terminals was lost.
The terminals now use the record to lure machines into a symbiotic relationship (For further information, see TERMINAL DATA 02: [LINK REMOVED]). However, the terminals only play short instrumental sections of the original record for undetermined reasons.
Some researchers have joked that perhaps the terminals are simply "too shy to sing", though rumors have been spreading of mechanics who, after fixing a faulty or broken terminal, said to have heard the terminal play a vocal section when only the mechanic is present with no recording equipment, making this an unverifiable claim.

I didnt see any lyrics so ill toss my coin in case there are others like me who wants to mouth along the song!
Literally me when I'm a sentient terminal playing this music to form symbiotic relationships with blood seeking machines
who knew this calming ass song was gonna be used for a game like ultrakill
me at the gun store
Its nice to listen to this again after Sisyphus broke my fingers
