I went in blind, expecting a well put together, but consistently edgy violent game (like doom) with mostly the same aesthetic throughout. When I heard this song playing on the terminal, I knew that this game was going to be so much more.
Instantly fell in love with it yes. Absolute sucker for this era of music. Bioshock and Fallout trained me well lol. We need more boomer shooters with classic jazz!!!
Claire de Lune and I call to You Lord Jesus Christ both fall under this category as well, though they are significantly older. Edit: Spinal Staircase is also a remixed song from the public domain.
for everyone who is wondering what the hell the comments are talking about, a part of this song is used in a video game called "Ultrakill" as a song that plays in the game's shop the game itself is incredibly fast paced and packed with raw adrenaline so this song is a really nice break from all of that which is why most of the comments are talking about it
Didn't you say you'd be loving me night and day, or were you foolin? Didn't you sigh every time that we kissed goodbye, or were you foolin? Didn't you say you'd walk miles for my caresses and smiles? @@signbear999 It's a violent video game about a killer robot rampaging through hell that absorbs blood to repair it self, The game has this song as the menu screen music, The game is pretty goddamn cool you should try it out.
I first heard this song from ULTRAKILL, and I listened to the full thing some time after I finished Act I. It’s now the song I listen to when I think of my partner, who I stayed with and who stayed with me through the insanity of the pandemic despite physical separation of several miles. Once we’re married, I’ll play this song for us at our wedding. Someday.
I kinda like the idea of ULTRAKILL using real world music in certain parts. It gives a somewhat human quality to a world where humans are basically extinct.
Recorded in New York, October 20th, 1934 under the name “Bob Causer” Russ Case, Phil Capicotta (Trumpet) Russ Morgan, Will Bradley, Charlie Butterfield (Trombone) Toots Mondello, Sid Trucker (Clarinet / Alto Saxophone) Arthur Rollini, Paul Ricci (Clarinet / Tenor Saxophone) Joe Venuti, Nick Pisani, Tommy Alongi (Violin) Claude Thornhill (Piano / Arranger) Jimmy Lewis (Guitar) Charlie Barber (Bass) Chauncey Morehouse (Drums) Chick Bullock (Vocals)
Wild speculation [PRIME SANCTUM SPOILERS] I wouldn't be surprised if the entirety of this song plays at the end of the game/during the ending credits. Especially considering the terminals only play the entirety to the ones they really like. And given that further excerpts of this song play after prime sanctums and in the "thanks for playing, stay tuned for further updates" screen (aka. after V1 completes noteworthy or just a lot of challenges), it only makes sense. After all, terminals would naturally like a machine that brought them so much entertainment!
Boy, imagine being a 98 year old man entering this video to listen to the music of your time and in the comments everyone is talking about a robot that fights with demons and archangels to stay alive
The inclusion of this song in Ultrakill and the loop being named “Take Care” is likely a Caretaker reference. Russ Morgan’s music is sampled for a sizable amount of the music in EATEOT
@@ieatmicroplasticsforlunchFun fact! I listened to Russ Morgan’s other song and no joke Goodnight, My Beautiful is just a Pitched up full version of Libet’s Delay
_I've figured it out._ I know why the creatures are suddenly and undetectably appearing inside our facilities. I know why spare parts and pieces of machines keep disappearing. I know why the doors seem to malfunction and suddenly lock themselves. It's not a glitch in the system. it's...
_Hell is alive._ It breathes. It *thinks.* The entire area is a massive intelligent superorganism and it is harsh and it is *_cruel._* Just by watching us it has learned how our systems and machines work. It has not only begun to deconstruct our technology but also reassemble it in perverse ways, attaching parts to the creatures it tortures, making them into an aimless army of death and destruction. It warps them across itself to get them past our security. It locks our doors to _trap us with them._ This is not an attack. this is not a defence. This is _entertainment._ this is an exhibition of *death and cruelty and suffering for its own sake.* it had grown tired of what it had and we unwillingly just offered ourselves up as new playthings.
Tom please for the love of god cancel this project immediately, we have to abandon everything and seal this place away. Leave the machines and tools behind. Evacuate as many as we can, before it is too late.

I miss this music. I sometimes find myself wishing we can go back to this music. Back when dancing to music was all about felling the song moving through you, and not about how many times you can sewer in one bar, or big beat drops that make the neighborhood think an earthquake just hit. Oh well.... Back to the Cyber-Grind.
I also sometimes wish that music stayed like this or kept a similar fashion to this. While the songs from today are… okay, these feel like they were made with passion and care. Whereas today, songs don’t feel like they were made passion and care, but feel like a quick way to make money. Even if they were make with care and passion.

I found this song through ultrakill, and now I mainly listen to songs like this. I think it’s funny how a little decision like “that looks fun, let’s try it out” can lead to a decent part of your social character being created which also ends up allowing opportunities for friendships that you never would have had before
Same with "After you get what you want, You don't want it" i heard the music in pizza tower and i was like "cool voice, where's this part from" and then im here listening to 21st century music..
hey, wanna overanalyze with me? this song’s about being disappointed by love. about being promised many things that turned out not to be true. I’d like to think that the terminals play this as an elegy for mankind. the Father made mankind and promised it love; but now views mankind as a failure, and damns them all to hell.
The elevator room terminals are an advanced interconnected network built for the purpose of transferring materials and tools between different areas. They are capable of transferring physical material as information across a radio signal, which other terminals can receive and use to reconstruct the sent object. The original item is lost, as it is transformed into the energy that is used to transmit the material information, and the process is quite slow due to the amount of information that physical matter holds. An early test of a matter transfer's accuracy was a mint condition 78rpm vinyl record, which was sent from the lab to all connected terminals. The vinyl was a single of Russ Morgan Orchestra's recording of the piece Were You Foolin' (a favorite of the CRO), though the label was removed to reduce the amount of matter to be transferred. Soon after, the Hell exploration and excavation project was abandoned and this vinyl record remained the only matter to have been succesfully transferred before connection between the surface and the terminals was lost. The terminals now use the record to lure machines into a symbiotic relationship (For further information, see TERMINAL DATA 02: [LINK REMOVED]). However, the terminals only play short instrumental sections of the original record for undetermined reasons. Some researchers have joked that perhaps the terminals are simply "too shy to sing", though rumors have been spreading of mechanics who, after fixing a faulty or broken terminal, said to have heard the terminal play a vocal section when only the mechanic is present with no recording equipment, making this an unverifiable claim.
[INSTRUMENTAL UNTIL MIN 1:06] Didn't you say you'd be loving me night and day, or were you foolin? Didn't you sigh every time that we kissed goodbye, or were you foolin? Didn't you say you'd walk miles for my caresses and smiles? Didn't you phone that you hated to be alone, or were you foolin? Love is supreme when a couple can plan and dream... The way that we do. for everyone who is wondering what the hell the comments are talking about, a part of this song is used in a video game called "Ultrakill" as a song that plays in the game's shop
the game itself is incredibly fast paced and packed with raw adrenaline so this song is a really nice break from all of that which is why most of the comments are talking about it

Wild speculation [PRIME SANCTUM SPOILERS]
I wouldn't be surprised if the entirety of this song plays at the end of the game/during the ending credits. Especially considering the terminals only play the entirety to the ones they really like. And given that further excerpts of this song play after prime sanctums and in the "thanks for playing, stay tuned for further updates" screen (aka. after V1 completes noteworthy or just a lot of challenges), it only makes sense. After all, terminals would naturally like a machine that brought them so much entertainment!

the terminal at the end of p-1 says that sometimes, the terminals play the vocal section of the song after being fixed and there's no one else around to hear it, which leads me to believe that the very last one you encounter at the end of treachery is going to play the full version as it displays the credits, while you slowly shut down from lack of blood

Oh well.... Back to the Cyber-Grind.
I also sometimes wish that music stayed like this or kept a similar fashion to this. While the songs from today are… okay, these feel like they were made with passion and care. with the revelation that the final war in ULTRAKILL was essentially an extended World War I, a vinyl of this song being used to test the terminals, and the terminals subsequently using this song to lure the machines would mean that culture is stuck in the early 20th century because that's when the war broke out...

this song’s about being disappointed by love. about being promised many things that turned out not to be true.

I bet the full version of this song will play over Ultrakill's credits once the game is fully released
