Dude I love your videos. It's great seeing such a great personality in someone who is very passionate in a hobby I've been passionate in for so many years. I'm glad you are making content. Thank you
0:08 >>>: D-low, I always listen to a Loopstation you made in the background, apparently that's really cool because you made it and because it only has my favorite sounds on the Loopstation. If you read this comment, please bring a video of yourself making this song on Loopstation, I believe that not only me, but many will love it and are curious to hear it at a higher volume hahaha. A hug, nice reaction bro! 🙌 💙
aye dlow first of all big ups to the regular uploads, one question tho, is it just me or are your reaction videos mixed super quietly? like i always have to boost my volume a lot
once upon a time Reggie Watts made a joke about "moist beat, thats the new shit" (i think about 12 years ago) and now with that waterdrops flow of ABX i feel like Reggie was right and it became true. Great Wildcards guys ✌🏻
when you say it might be a cultural thing... ask him if its intentional or not? also i would like to add i believe ABX is under rated... he has sooooooo many original sounds its insane actually... check out his vibe vid
Hey, I do follow the beatbox scene for a while, but I still don't understand some things. I would really appreciate any help with my questions. Can someone explain the format of GBB? Who or how does one get selected as a judge? Who or how do contenders get selected for each category? What is the purpose of these Wilcards? Thanks in advance
Judges are usually beatboxers that win the gbb in the past or made an impact in some way. Some of them are pretty max "fixed" (they judge all years, and seems that they will do it until they refuse to do so), while others may change (dlow has been judge gbb21 and will be judge in gbb23). Swissbeatbox "owns" gbb so they pretty much decide who judges and why. The format also may vary during years but pretty much there are too many competitors to enter the stage, so wildcards are a way to decide who may compete. If there are 16 slots, only the first 16 wildcards will enter the competition. This is applied to all categories. Usually the judges themselves select wildcards.
Generally, the sbx themselves chooses the judges on the basis of their past achievements and experience and if that individual consents obviously. For GBB, after the announcement of the Wildcard season by the sbx, beatboxers put out their routines as wildcards showcasing their skills and then the judges select like top 15 or top 10 depends on the number of spots available for that year by judging these wildcards. The beatboxers who get selected on the basis of their wildcards enter GBB. Also, the top 3 people and the 7to smoke winner from the previous year GBB are also qualified for the next year's gbb if they want to participate. Sometimes, the national championships winners of their country are also qualified for GBB but i have not seen this criteria used much, basically it is pre announced that the winner of this national championship will be qualified for the GBB. All of this is valid for any category of GBB. Hope this helps !
The format of GBB is a bracket. Seeding rounds, Quarter final, Semi final, Final or whatever they want to rename them. Judges are select based on either, Winning GBB previous years, Winning Outside events or competitions, Winning any of the GBB variations, loop station, tag team, crew exc. Contenders submit wildcards towards a specific category. For example D-low Solo Wildcard: GBB 2023 World League. Or Zer-Low Wildcard Tag Team: GBB 2023 World League. And to answer the final question Wildcards are used to decide who has the skills to be present in GBB and based on how good the few that make it perform, they are then ranked. So 1st place wildcard to 16th place wildcard type deal. Then everyone who makes it in via wildcard arrives at GBB and does a "elimination round" promptly named because only the ones who have an amazing elimination round make it into the competition and the rest are sadly eliminated.
Yo, I don't want this to sound like hate because I love your content and have been watching for a good while. Could we please get more audio on some of the videos you're reacting to? Your volume is perfect but it's hard to hear them given their inconsistent sound levels. Again, much love.
