    Some of the Roger Taylor tracks on the first several albums are absolute gems. Each member of Queen was a stellar songwriter - how many bands can do that?

    • @JosephHuntelvisnspiders
      @JosephHuntelvisnspiders Год назад +4

      Yup. That's why they were the first band ever to be inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, they all penned hits.
      The high standard you had to compete with to get just an album track! must have been huge, plus they had an album every year.
      They argued a lot (healthily) about what singles to release.
      Amazing band, seen them in 84', unreal.

    Queen was very theatrical and many people in the theater and ballet realm were really into Queen because their music resembled a play, a theatrical event. As a matter of fact the Royal Ballet asked Freddie to dance with them and sing Queen songs for a charity event, Freddie did it.😂 Great reaction

    Just listen to the last note Brian plays at the end of Lily of the Valley. The one that fades out. It sounds so much like a Cello to me. That's one of the things that made Queen so special in the 70s: no use of synthesizers. They even wrote it on the sleeve of the albums. Most weird sounds you'll hear on early Queen songs are almost entierly produced by Brian's guitar. Just wait til you get to "Good Company" off "A Night at the Opera" and you'll see what I mean. Absolutely mind blowing.

    Didn't know John played the 6 string but it always sounded unlike Brian. My favorite Roger song - especially the bass and electric guitar parts with the delay. They flow so well. And then the 'celli' from Brian at the end - wow!

    • @katehaynes5735
      @katehaynes5735 8 месяцев назад

      I always heard that if you can play 4 strings (bass), you can play 6 (standard guitar) and vice versa. That said, I was a terrible guitar player and could only play 2 at best ( hammer on / pull off).

    Thanks, Justin... but Brian May is the guitar genius, here...and Freddie on piano... (not to take away from Deacon on bass)... this is a great feature for Roger's voice...talkin' about funster... then Flick of the Wrist is one of the first "don't piss off Freddie" songs... and of course, Lily is so pretty.. their early albums had NO breaks between songs... so cool... enjoy your reaction.

    Metallica tomo el arpegio para "nothing else matters" de esta canción "tenement funster" los primeros 2 compases.
    Para "Whiplash" tomo los machaques de Brighton rock, y finalmente hicieron de cover "Stone Cold crazy" para su "Garage inc" a modo de homenaje por tanto a QUEEN.

    I cannot believe I haven't added this one to the album collection but will shortly. I mean after about 50 years. The first 2 albums were the best, IMO. Most of this is stuff they haven't played to death on FM. Much like early Genesis, Yes and a few others.

    With all the great guitarists of the time, Brian May's approach, (tone, phrasing, and layering etc.) was ground breaking. Rankings of top guitar players from a certain publication, that gathers no moss, seem to have forgotten these contributions and the amazing pieces that resulted. Lol...everyone has opinions about that illustrious list.

    Tenement , up until now and probably a little afterwards, is the best “Roger@ song. Being a rocker is one thing but there seems to be a learning curve thing with his tunes. Yeah, they are good but his songs are always fighting for a place on an album that loaded with May and Mercury songs….
    Still a great 3-song collection of what Queen is.

    I've said for years that Roger Taylor was criminally underused as a singer. GIven the chance he could have been recognised as one of rock's greatest singers. Maybe to the point that after Freddie died they band could have done a Genesis and have him front the band.
