Actually, the synthesizer you hear is Kanami, the lead guitarist, running her riffs through a special box on her massive floor array. The official music for "Unleash" was an anime with cameos from the Maids. This live version is absolutely rocking. Saiki, the lead vocalist, is on FIRE!!!!! After anyone listens to Band Maid, I dare them to say they're not talented and personally (at 75 years old) consider them the best damned rock band in the world today.
I know who my fave bands are and what I like. I would never consider describing any of them as the best bands as there is no such thing. There are good and poor bands. I've tried getting into Band Maid, but unfortunately they do not appeal to me. Sure, they are very good. I like Nemophila and Aldious when it comes to Japanese Rock Groups.
@@CoachCastTV As @BillHallisey says , Kanami's main guitar tone for a few years now has been utilizing an Eventide H9 Harmonizer which gives the synthy sound. I got the feeling that she actually took it down a notch in this show.
Kinda. While that sound is definitely Kanami's guitar played through an Eventide H9 harmonizer, that riff is on the backing track. She usually doesn't play that particular riff live. Rather, she doubles up with Miku playing the rhythm part.
Yokohama Arena, 3 and half hour, 33 song setlist. The best part? I was there😁 If you want to see Miku (red rose, backup vocalist) in all her glory, react to Sayonakidori acoustic version. (which happens to be my favorite Band-Maid song) PO

The band calls the contrast between their cutesy maid costumes and their hard rock sound "the gap". They enjoy seeing the confused looks on people's faces when they walk on stage and the reaction they get when they start playing with their hard rock sound. They call their fans Masters and Princesses, which comes from the maid cafe that band founder Miku Kobato worked in when she envisioned a rock and roll group with the maid cafe image and aesthetic. Us fans mainly refer to ourselves as Maidiacs.
OK, masters and princess says that's what the maid's refer to us. As because they don't have concerts, they have servings. The concept of the many cafe comes full circle. The maids Are there to serve the masters and princesses in okejo a service or a concert if that makes any sense.
I'm not into hard rock, but this group is fantastic, though I'd never hire these "Maids" to clean my house. ;) I think that, one of the reasons that so many older folks get into J-pop or K-pop, is that groups, like Band-Maid, have gone back to the core of whatever genre' they focus on, both musically and in live performance, and they have grasped the power of music video that Western labels/artists seem to have forgotten ever since MTV stopped playing actual music. They also seem to have fully grasped the power of social media. I'm not a Swiftie, but Taylor Swift is as big as she is because, in part, she got it, and established that personal relationship with her fans. They're both "new" and "old school", and it's refreshing.
Well said! Especially apropos in regard to Unleash !!!!! BandMaid never stopped releasing new music during COVID doing on line concerts for fans with judicious use of social media. However BandMaid had created a supportive community prior to the Plague so that once it was over their fanbase was even stronger! What a band!!!
Band Maid is the not only the best rock band in the world today, I would dare say they are the best of all-time. Miku gave up lead to make the band better. She learned guitar AFTER forming the band to make the band better. Kanami composes music so that ALL the members are highlighted, not just her shredding away. They are all so humble and grateful. Akane never stops smiling while killing it on the drums and MISA is the best bassist today. I wound also say Saiki is the best rock vocalist since rock began. She can come in hard with growls, but can bring you to tears as well. I love the energy, I love the talent and the beauty that is Band Maid. Great reaction.
This was from their final show of their 10th Anniversary tour, held at Yokohama Arena infront of 16000 or more fans. They played for almost 4 hours!!! What band does that? The best!
5:10 Thank you for mentioning Miku's accomplishments! I think what makes this band so great is that all the members are able to prioritize everyone's happiness without asserting their own egos. As a reward for Miku, please listen to the song "sayonakidori (nightingale)" in which she is the main vocalist🕊
The "masters and princesses" is a translation of a Japanese phrase used in the maid cafes - sometimes machine translators will come up with "husbands and daughters" which causes hilarious misunderstandings in the fan groups. There was a story circulating awhile back that Kanami has an Italian husband and a young daughter, which is entirely fan-generated fiction. The term "master" has a bit of an unfortunate connotation for some of us in the American South, but I know that's not what they mean and some nuance got added by the translation.
Okay, that bass player - MISA (mee-sah), rythm guitar/2nd lead singer/lyricist - MIKU (mee-koo), drums - Akane (ah-ka-nay), lead singer/lyricist - Saiki (sigh-kee), and finally lead guitar/main composer - Kanami (kah-nah-me).
If you want to here Miku, second vocalist and rhythm guitar, sing lead then check out "Rock In Me", "Time", and "Sayonakidori"! Or Miku's side project Cluppo, where she is the only member of Band-Maid in the songs, I suggest "Peace and Love".
The 'other singer' Miku get's to take lead vocals sometimes. Sayonakidori is my favourite and there is an acoustic version on their channel. Also she had a solo project a couple of years ago under the name 'Cluppo' and released an EP 'Hatoful', Peace and Love off that EP is my favourite on the EP
If you watch this group enough I think you'll find there are no egos they all like and respect each other. In Domination or Freedom you'll see the others kind of sit down when it is the drum solo to not draw attention away from Akane the drummer.
Miku (rhythm gtr and backup vocals) actually put out a mini LP of her own called HATOFULL under the name of Cluppo if you want to actually hear nothing but her singing. Totally different style and sound than Band Maid but it's good in a different type of way. Listen to PEACE AND LOVE and you'll be surprised. Miku is the lyricist for Band Maid and it's creator and was actually taught guitar by Kanami (lead guitar and composer of most of the musical ideas) after the band acquired Saiki to do the singing. Miku is the engine that can't be stopped.
You've mentioned throughout your reactions to these guys "Good Rock n Roll". Go back just a little in time to see "Real Existence" or "Play" (both live), 2 really great "Arena Rockers". I read somewhere once referring to "Real Existence" live, Saiki (lead vocalist) said "This is what we're all about". Not just pretty girls in Maid outfits.

3:10 - Mr Coach...I mean Master Coach...knows his stuff and spotted the backing track kick in with Kanami's almost trademark 'synth' (guitar, as Mrs Coach spotted!) sound. She would have played the piece beforehand (probably on her Eventide Harmonizer FX pedal, though she uses an Octave Drop pedal a lot too) and recorded it ready for possibly one of the sound people or, more likely, as she is the band leader and has a laptop and other tech on ther left of her drum kit for that kind of stuff, Akane. Kanami is playing the same pattern as Miku on rhythm guitar when that track plays so that (utter maestro of a composer that she is) the dual guitars and the guitar track really punch hard.Thank you Mrs Coach...I mean Princess Coach...for the appreciation of Miku, the backing singer and rhythm guitarist (and main lyricist and founder of the band). As you said before, they have found a special dynamic in this band and I totally get why you find them fascinating. As do we all, Masters, Princesses, Maidiacs and Mistresses!
I agree about adding descriptors to the discussions of their music. Sometimes record labels use these descriptions as a way to get a band to be a bigger fish by shrinking the size of the pond they are swimming in. Adding "all-female" is a way of limiting the competition which is unfair to them, I think. They are certainly Japanese and certainly women, and their aesthetic and message reflect that fact, but they produce excellent rock music by any standard. Maybe a keyboard. But today's guitar players have access to a huge palette of pedal effects that can make their instruments sound like other things. In the mix it's often hard to determine just where a particular sound is coming from.

To be honest, there is post-production work done with most or all of their live Bluray/DVD offerings, and its expected. As others have noted, Kanami (lead G, main composer, keys, track master) does the majority of the track layering, i.e., the main synth riff is actually a guitar riff you hear, and I've seen Kanami play said riff live. Unleash was song #5 of 33, and it was the last of their usual 5 song set before their 1st MC/intro break at this Yokohama 10th anniversary tour final in Nov 2023, Po! 🦍🍌
@@lurkmerchant Live in-person vs. Livestream vs. Live MV. After seeing them a dozen times in-person, the in-person audio is always a challenge to me due to the venues equipment and space. The livestream gets a little better for me because the space (and ambient noise) are eliminated. For me, the MV here sounds the best after experiencing all 3, Po! For the Yokoari show, I think they did an outstanding job in the mix. I've figured out to be positioned IFO or on the side of their sound tech or their manager (who directs the house lighting folks). It seems to be the sweet spot. At Yokoari, I was in line with Miku but a half a block back on the rail of the circuit round 2nd level) that they walked. It was a memorable show, Po! The new K arena (20K capacity) nearby would be an awesome place for a Band Maid show. It's like TGT but deeper (fan-shaped), and it's billed as the "Worlds largest music arena,'" Po! 🦍🍌
I recommend listening to JISOO - “How Can I Love The Heartbreak” (feat. Chanhyuk from AKMU) in the track Jisoo’s voice is fully revealed, and the guitar in the instrumental makes the song awesome. P.S. this song was recorded before Jisoo's debut in BLACKPINK
Miku the second vocalist still has a few songs she does lead for to give Saiki the main vocalist a break generally 1 per album(plus has a small side project). Sayonokadori and rock in me are my favourite of the ones she is lead vocalist for.
Great reaction! Please react to the official music video of “Unleash” because it’s too good to pass up and your fans will appreciate it. More Band-Maid please! ✌🏼

It’s hard to blame anyone for thinking that sound comes from a keyboard and it’s not like they don’t occasionally use piano backing tracks in songs. It’s not a big deal.
Whether what you hear is a keyboard on the pre-recorded backing track or live guitar pushed thru effects it is all BANDMAID. If you hear strings as in From Now On that is Kanami playing a synthetic. If you hear a full choir that is a synthetic. It makes the music full IMHO.
Unleash is not one of my favorites. They have also recently released 'Don't you tell Me' from the same concert, now that is one you would like for sure.
That's what they call us but we as the fans are MADIACS it to bad you didn't watch the official music video before watching this one some reactors will never learn
Ya know, it took me a while to catch what you're trying to say.... some punctuations might be nice.... 😛 Having taken a dig at you, I do think it's a pity that they did not watch the MV first, but I guess they did not realize what a treat that would be. Relax mon, it's ok for them to watch this first. Perhaps it would make them appreciate the song even more when they realize what this song is about when they watch the official MV.

To be honest, this one is damn close to how it sounded on live stream. It's hard to tell which part was post-produced.
The term "maidiacs" is contentious in the fandom. Generally the longer term fans like "Masters and Princesses" more.
Miku the second vocalist still has a few songs she does lead for to give Saiki the main vocalist a break generally 1 per album(plus has a small side project). Sayonokadori and rock in me are my favourite of the ones she is lead vocalist for.
Good to know.
I believe it's band's decision to give her the chance to shine.
Great reaction! Please react to the official music video of “Unleash” because it’s too good to pass up and your fans will appreciate it. More Band-Maid please! ✌🏼
Thanks. We'll definitely keep that in mind as several people have mentioned the video is really good.
I’ve been a Master since 2015. Miku calls us Masters and Princesses and I see no reason to debate our Small Pigeon. Po!
I'm a Maidiac i'm not a master of anybody.🙋♂️
But you are the master of comments. I'll give you that.
Ahh... but are you master of your domain? 🤷🏻♂🤔
@@sugaanessena3143 Aw shucks🤭 Thx Sugaan :)
@@jkkansasband7056 It's true, i stand on a pinnacle so high you could hear a...um....pin drop. 🤔Actually you couldn't cos it'd be out of earshot when it hit the ground.😂
You will always be my princess!
Their fans are called Maidiacs but they refer to their audience as Masters and Princesses and their concerts as Servings. Its all in reference to maid cafes in Japan. There are no mistresses...well publicly at least. LMAO
😆 🤣
I’ve heard “Don’t let me down” there are definitely mistresses….
Your princess/mistress discussion maid my morning 😂
😆 🤣
Good job!
The perfect song from Band Maid regarding a mistress would be Puzzle offical live video.
Oh boy. LOL
There's talent and then there's the rarified universe that B-M exist in and in addition these Rock Goddesses are free of the arrogant ego and selfishness that so many performers have. They are as unique and wonderful as finding five beautiful unicorns together. Hey coach did you sleep okay on the couch after your shout out for applications for mistresses 🤣 Cheers from Australia 👍🍻
Haha! Mrs. Coach is perfectly fine with my ramblings, she's been listening to them for over three and a half decades.
@@CoachCastTV I figured that 😄👍
(Some) fans call themselves Maidiacs. BAND-MAID use the terminology of maid cafes to address their customers: Masters and Princesses. See for yourself the Maid Cafe experience - ruclips.net/video/u90AN5QpbXE/видео.htmlsi=HtnaYaQtuGDdo32a
Shame on you for not knowing their names! It's John, Paul, George, and Ringo. lol! And how could you stop at 3 songs, I'm confused?
We have not stopped...they will definitely be more from them on the channel.
I heard keyboard also
Miku sings lead in few songs. She does get spotlight.
we'll always support mr and mrs coach❤❤.Coach need to reaction to Ariana grande and Mariah carey "Yes,and?"remix. Its dropped few hours ago❤❤❤❤
We plan on taking a look at that one soon. Appreciate you!
hey guys, can you react to the wicked teaser that dropped recently, it’s the movie ariana is starring in
Yeah, we can probably do that. Didn't know it was out. Thanks.
its also a Musical movies ❤❤❤
Please react to IU-Holssi
The band calls their fans masters and princesses, but we fans call ourselves Maidiacs, nothing official of course just YT nomenclature.
DUDE NO KEYBOARD Sheesh

No need to be negative. There is no "right" way to enjoy Band Maid.
MAIDIACS...
MAIDIACS...
Ya know, it took me a while to catch what you're trying to say.... some punctuations might be nice.... 😛
Having taken a dig at you, I do think it's a pity that they did not watch the MV first, but I guess they did not realize what a treat that would be. Relax mon, it's ok for them to watch this first. Perhaps it would make them appreciate the song even more when they realize what this song is about when they watch the official MV.
