I bought one of these a few years ago my charging handle is a radian raptor that came from the factory which I find to be nice and my trigger is smooth. No complaints here.
Yeah they use to come with radian raptor charging handles and the barrel use to be stainless steel and I’m not sure but I think the bolt may even be different now and idk if there more or less than they use to be but they better be less or close to the same cuz they kinda just added cheaper parts and a different barrel material.
Big shout out to Hop for not spewing his coffee when the price was announced. Top tier self-control.
$2,099 for msrp is mighty steep for what is basically just a mil-spec rifle. The only real nice part is the barrel being CHF & Chrome lined. The handguard doesn't seem too special as well. I struggle to find the extra $1,100 dollars in value on this outside of it being a Barrett rifle.
Id rather have a BCM or LWRC

Yeah I don't pay extra for badges. I feel exactly the same way about the Daniel Defense and other premium brands.
I have a Smith & Wesson Sport and an IWI Zion. Also have about a dozen PSA builds. They all shoot great... No regrets.
I have a Barrett Rec 7 DI. Bought mine in 2020 for like $1700~ new. It’s a fantastic gun with the time I have on it. It cycles super fast with the Timney Calvin Elite trigger and Hypertap break I have on it. I can also get consistent hits out to 600 yards from a bipod using 55gr M193 ball.
I haven’t shot it further than that, but 600 yards is more than enough for an AR-15. If I wanna go further I’ll grab my AR-10 or bolt guns
This is gonna do one singular thing to the AR market: give DD some competition for the vaunted title of "guns for dentists"

Daniel Defense doesn’t even hire engineers screw that clownshow. A PSA is equally reliable to your daniel defense. There is not a single special thing about those rifles besides their rail, which Geiselle does better…
Nowadays any AR "weapon system" over $1400 should have full ambi controls. Maybe even $1200 and up.
1400 bucks and over for sure. LWRCI sells their full ambi internal piston for $1500. Granted it is not chrome lined but it is CHF with a nitride barrel. I don’t know a single person that has a transferable machine gun though so they will be just fine with the nitride barrel. Steer clear of this one for sure at this price or just get a Daniel Defense RIS3 with ambi lower and CHF CL barrel…

If I wanted a top tier MilSpec rifle id go BCM or FN for FAR cheaper. If I wanted a high end Di (with objectively meaningful upgrades, no gimmicks) id go LWRC, still for cheaper... They should be price competitive with BCM & Colt, not LWRC & FN. The only reason DD is priced that high is their marketing, which Barrett cant touch.

Yeah, It actually has a gas block held in place by a screw down collar similar to a honey badger or KAC sr15. So that is cool. This guy did a pretty bad job of selling the product and explaining how it stands out.

@@connorm1600 to be clear, I think Eugene Stoner was a damn genius & the AR platform is amazing. I also commend companies, any company, on building great products, however, I want to see the trifecta: great quality + great customer service + innovation. I’m just bored as fuck with US trade shows like this one where it seems 4/5 booths are just the “latest” AR build (or stupid gimmicks like “tactical” lever actions, bolt action, magazine fed AR-ish rifles or historic reproductions). European shows such as IWA seem to have way more truly new shit. Which is ironic considering we’re way bigger gun nuts than the vast majority of Europe lol

y'know, i think aero and psa make a gun just like this. Some of those psa's have FN cold hammer forged barrels. BCM is the next step up but you really don't have to spend any more than that. I really don't see why this is newsworthy.

I'm failing to see where that price tag gets justified. Even the rep didn't have an answer. I'd rather buy another LWRC and a LPVO for that price.
I've built out so many great ARs for less than that. $1,000 for an upper and $350-$500 for a built out lower will get you so much better.

Just held this gun at the show and while it did feel very well built but didn’t feel like $2,100.
I'm sure the QC and components used will be excellent, but not nearly special enough to warrant that markup
Barrett is one of the best companies with best employees ever. I once called them 5 minutes before they closed and they stayed on the phone and fulfilled my order. No other company I know would do that.

I was originally thinking BCM or somewhere in between BCM and DD price range. The Barrett’s are higher than the Noveske Chainsaw range.

Buy a $300 Criterion CHF Crome lined barrel and slap on any budget AR and now it’s sub MOA. Get a trigger when you can afford it. Rattle can it and it’s as good as good as many competitors. Maybe get a nice handguard. All easy things.

I know right. The new platform doesn't offer anything better. I thought that cerakote finish over the phosphate finish on original was a little much. But nothing evolved in this one. Not even a QD end plate

I bought this rifle 2020 for 1200 and it came with a vortex red dot. It is a very good and extremely accurate rifle, but I wouldn't pay double for it.

Was very interested but for $2100 I think ur better off paying alittle extra like a radian sig mcx etc hopefully it will be a lot cheaper at street price but felt like it was a solid $1700 I think the price would be justified if it was the piston version at $2100 but Griffin armament has their MK2 for $1700 full ambi an u can get pistol or pin a welded versions heck even top tier Mil-Spec rifles are $1500 idk if this is worth $600 more for customer service but very cool tho.
