    Peugeot and Citroen are really designing some of the best looking interiors and exteriors of all non-premium manufacturers. Even the digital dash looks so well done. I also like the 3 bar tail lights. Really unique.

      I would say GT interior is not "the best non premium interior", but simply premium interior. Hard plastic at the bottom of the doors means nothing, most of BMWs sold in Europe do not have full leather bmw interior, so they also have plastics in the bottom. But no one says typical bmw x3 is not premium, journalists even state that it is better to "buy x3 without almost any equipment, than to buy fully equipped Peugeot", which is nonsense, because bmw that's not fully equipped is not clearly better than a Peugeot. People care too much about social status and brand image when they define premium, instead of looking at actual material quality differences.

    In my opinion this is a one of the best compact crossovers on the market. Is very modern, very technology advanced and more. 3008 is very close to Tiguan...
    Peugeot make great job...

    Autogefuhl: Collected my 3008 Allure 1.2 auto on 29th June and drove 225 miles on a combination of urban roads country lanes, main roads and motorways. As far as I'm concerned it is a really lovely car to drive. I had no problems with visibility and the rear camera works well. I achieved an average of 43.7 miles per gallon, which I believe will improve. I am very happy with the build quality, having changed from a BMW 520D with leather trim. I actually prefer the fabric seats of the Peugeot, which are very comfortable. The performance of the 1.2 litre engine, combined with the 6 speed auto gearbox, is pleasantly surprising. I have yet to try the sport mode, but even in normal kick down it allows for easy overtaking. I am thoroughly impressed with my new 3008 and wish to thank Autogefuhl for brining it to my attention: otherwise, I would probably have purchased a Seat Ateca.

      Have their been many situations where the 1.2 needs to be changed down and revved to get acceleration .. E.g overtaking sombody doing 80kmph in a 100 kmph zone ,, where you need to get past them reasonably quickly due to not having a huge stretch of road ahead ?

      pete draper I'm a bit suspicious of the practice these days of stressing a tiny three cylinder engine to the max to get the best HP output. Intuitively I feel it can't be good for longevity. I've always preferred a lazy, understressed lump under the bonnet rather than rev the b*ll*cks off the poor thing. There's no substitute for actual 'litres' they say....

      It appears that early cars off the production line had a 1.6 hdi which is no longer used.It now has a 1.5 bluehdi.Also the 6"speed was old and is now a 8 speed. Anyone purchasing one go for the later engine/gearbox.

    Good review Thomas. Thank you. The 3008 is a car that is supposed to show that Peugeot can do high-end mainstream (leaving the premium role to DS). If the prices they charge were lower this car would sell like hot cakes because it does everything quite well whilst bringing a smile to your face when you look at its exterior and interior. Peugeot has improved its reliability markedly. However, reliable Plug in hybrid AWD editions with 'normal' prices cannot come soon enough.

    Peugeot 3008 SUV Allure with automatic gear box and 130 hp petrol engine ordered! I'm really happy choosing the 3008 over the Ateca. The overall feel of quality is higher in the 3008 and I really loved the interior comfort and road noise isolation. Now all that remains is the wait... September by the looks of it. :-D Thank you for the great review, Autogefühl!

    French cars are often underestimated, especially from the German car addicts. I drive a Mercedes (before: BMW) It' s a company leasing car. But I never write of the French option. The main reason for the German addicts to look down op French built is the all-over built quality. They are partially right, but things are changing pretty fast. I've just driven along in my collegue's new Peugeot and...I'm impressed. One other thing: Thomas, if you were seeing the same as us in the left mirror, I think the blind spotter was just-in-time. As long as you still can SEE the car coming in from the left, there seems to be no problem for me. Blind spot is well....blind spot

    I have driven this car and it is great so far. Some gicks still here and there but actually it is reborn series in 100% of the 3008.Is not a facelift is not a dull new version. It is new, really is. Unfortunately not without fault.Lets say the diesel engine is terrible loud, there are still some scratchy plastic rims inside and the boot is very small compering the actual size of the 3008.Everything else is just so fantastic. I like the way how you step up in the car, not sitting in due to the high seat positioning. The seats are luxurious, the digital screens are very well visible(okay could do a bit higher resolution?) and the cockpit design, OMG. I was melting in the driver seat while driving. First was very very strange sitting there and drive a big car with that go-cart sized steering wheel but as soon as I felt how responsive it is I was amazed. It feels you are driving a 50k car. Is a very smoothly made car with some minor problems which i think will be fixed by the next year facelift. It is the good way to go for Peugeot. Awesome design and a big rival for the Ateca, VW Tiguan or even the Jaguars SUV(not engine like of coz) or the new Lexus. Peugeot planing to have a 1.2-1.6 version hybrid of this car in 2018 until that you can easily can spend your 17k on this anytime with no hassle. BUT! GO FOR THE PETROL!

    • @lordkovi
      @lordkovi 7 лет назад +3

      Tibor Tatrai you've probably tested the 1.6 blue hdi. Try the better 2.0hdi they are known to be even quietter than the petrol(specially the puretec versions)
      Also getting the focal sound system gives you acoustic glass front windows, therefore better sound insolation.
      note that in the 3008 there is that fake engine sound coming from the speakers and you cant desactivate that. so that might add to the fact it feels loud.

    • @tibortatrai2318
      @tibortatrai2318 7 лет назад

      Yeah that fake sound is utterly useless.On the other side I just don`t know if diesel have a future really.I hate that rattling noise,it is maybe only me.if the news are true Peugeot will come up with a new Hybrid line new in 2018,but only petrol.Will see....And just to mention this is not a GT,just GT line.Confirmed by Peugeot there will be no 3008 Gt anytime soon.

    • @lordkovi
      @lordkovi 7 лет назад +1

      Yeah it should give the owner the possibility to cancel the fake noise. Its true generally you get that rattling noise with diesel, but nowadays diesel are pretty noiseless.
      For the 3008, every review I have watched, they mentioned how the 2.0 diesel (150hp and the 180hp) are quieter than the puretec petrol engines(which are 3 cylinders 1.2 blocks). But definitely the focal option gives great sound insolation.
      I dont know where you are but for most EU markets ( uk, france, germany, spain, ....) the 2 higher trim level are the gt and the gt line. The difference are mainly seat interior and the engines, for eg the 180 hp diesel is exclusive for the gt version (automatic) while the 150 hp( manual) diesel is exclusive to the gt line.
      And there will be a hybrid petrol version for late 2018 which will give 4 wheel drive but it'd be something over 200hp combined.

    Another comprehensive review, Thomas. Since you have asked, yes I like sunroofs and this one is spectacular. I have a top trim Peugeot 208 and I must say this small steering wheel is superb: agile, light and progressive, but I think you are right: it must feel a little weird in a bigger car. The design is awesome, the THP engine is great, elastic and with good power, the 6 gears transmission is appropriate. The interior, where we all stay most of the time, has a strong appeal, making this car unique. The car has a great package of features and I think it'll be a huge success for Peugeot. This new 3008 may be my next car.

    I'm waiting for mine, but I went with the 1.6 litre diesel and Allure kit. I went into a dealership looking for something else, a Mazda CX5 or even CX3, but I spotted this and recognized the striking shape and asked for a test drive. Never looked back. It has really low consumption, great seating comfort even for tall people and it has a million practical functions and spaces to use. The i-cockpit is brilliant and I loved the meaty manual gearbox as well, a lot of modern cars have gearboxes that offer no feedback. Heck, even the sound system and ambient lighting are awesome, the only drawback for me was that the 2 litre 150hp version isn't available here in Sweden, so I had to compromise as I didn't want the added taxes and insurance and the large added cost of going GT or GT-Line to get the 180hp diesel.

    2018 3008 GT 2.0 diesel and i just passed 200000km with it and i have to say it's the best car i've ever owned
    it's a bargain for the money and the design it's even better than the German luxury suvs in this size in my opinion
    never owned a peugoet before but the moment i saw this car in 2017 i decided i want one no matter what
    it's just a shame mine also doesn't have the focal high end audio sound system just like the one u r reviewing

    The best review I have seen of this model yet. Well done. I was particularly interested in the 180bhp diesel automatic model, as I tow a touring caravan so would need the power and torque from the 2 litre engine. I accept the smaller diesel engine or even petrol engine may be more economical, but for towing, this model would be a better choice for me. I currently drive an old model Qashqai+2 (7 seater) of 2010 vintage which has the 2 litre diesel engine and automatic box plus selectable 4 wheel drive. I must confess in the 8 years I have owned it, I've hardly ever selected the all wheel drive, so the fact the 3008 is front wheel drive only, is not a big issue for me. I love the look of the car, and your review has confirmed it would be an excellent choice as my next car. I'd love the sunroof as I have the full glass roof in my Qashqai which makes the interior of the car much brighter on the numerous gloomy days we get here in England! Thank you again for such a great detailed review of a car that is now very popular here in the UK.

    I drove two 3008 so far: great car. The virtual cockpit puts VW to shame. It's good looking, customizable and standard equipment, even in the lowest trim.
    A really nice cruiser and for a person with 1,80m, i could find a spot on seating position.
    The gearbox is a real automatic! No stupid CVT!
    But Thomas is right, the gap on the right of the display got every car. I don't know what they're thinking. It looks awkward.
    Otherwise the build quaility is really good.
    The other day I drove an Ateca and the X1, which I really liked, but: they look, in comparison, so utterly dull!
    And for the X1: what the hell is that with the low central console, you got to move your arm way down to operate the idrive.

    Thanks, Ive been waiting for this review. Some precision Thomas :
    -There is a trim level between the allure and the gt called the gt line ( available with a 2.0 hdi 150hp manual). The exterior is similar to the gt and the inside has different seats and some kind of fabric instead of the wood.
    - The camera is perfectly normal, they use only 2 cameras for the 360 view (one back and one front), in which mirrors give you the side images. Therefore in order for them to appear on the screen, the car must be moving.
    - For the blind spot, as someone pointed it out, it was done in purpose to only blink when you actually dont see the car in the mirrors, so different philosophy (I prefer that way).
    - For the Nox emissions, the SCR system eliminates 90% of the emissions. Diesel are getting cleaner nowadays. As from 2021, car makers will have to have an average CO2 of less than 100g/km according to EU regulations, and without diesel there is no way they can attain those figures.

    • @autogefuehl
      @autogefuehl  7 лет назад +1

      Hey m8,
      yes indeed, and that's what we are going to have another 3008 review in August - with the GT-Line :-)
      And the petrol.
      That 360 camera is bollocks still as it is always deactivated when standing still, what's the purpose when parking in and out?!
      Blind spot I still find irritating, but really good to know!
      Indeed European CO2 regulations are fierce and I dont think they move in the right direction. Because CO2 itself is not the main problem, there are more poisonous stuff out there, so I find the US regulations better for the human body. Plus the biggest CO2 output doesnt come from traffic anyway. However still no reason to do nothing for sure, I just think that the time of Diesel are over except for 40.000 km annual runs etc.
      Thanks for the feedback!

    • @lordkovi
      @lordkovi 7 лет назад +1

      Autogefühl Yes I agree about the 360 view they ve chosen a cheap way. (also to get the front camera and the 360 view is an option called visiopark 2 and is pretty expensive)
      you're right about the co2 and how thats not what matters, but thats how it is.
      There are also regulations for the Nox and particulates for both diesel and petrol. Right now petrol are allowed to produce 10 times the amout of particulates than diesel and this will soon change. Expect particulates filters on direct injection petrol.
      There is a lack of powerful petrol engine here in france. Psa and renault are more specialized in diesel and are among the best in the class corcerning emissions.
      The most powerful petrol for the 3008 is the 1.6 thp 165hp.
      it gets horribly expensive if you buy a powerful petrol here because of co2 tax (like 6800 euro for the mustang ecoboost). people tend to choose diesel for the higher torque and better mileage but things are changing.
      anyway will be waiting for the gt line review and keep the good work.

    • @sic22l
      @sic22l 7 лет назад +2

      US regulations are not better because they don't take into consideration that gasoline and diesel engines are producing pollutants in different proportions. For example diesels are producing more NOx while gasoline engines emit more CO and carbohydrates. Other than that they both limit the amount of the same pollutants.

    Looking at the video the blind spot monitor does seem to be indicating just as the approaching car disappears into the blind spot. It could be argued that this is the way a blind spot monitor should work.

      I think Thomas was maybe confused, because he had a different position than the camera, so he was seeing a different image of the car compared to the side camera. Maybe the mirrors had to be adjusted a little bit to the right.

    I don't need an automatic distance control. In my opinion the Peugeot system is better because it says very clearly that the driver is responsible instead of giving him
    an illusive feeling of safety. In order to set the cruise control you don't need to move your whole left hand from the steering wheel. You can easily handle it with one or two fingers. The blind spot warning however must be changed immediately. It reacts far too late. One last statement to the assistants: even in Mercedes, BMW or Audi cars they don't work 100 %, as many tests by many different car magazines have shown.
    In general it is a quite unbiased review for a German tester with German taste and preferences.
    In my opinion the i-cockpit replaces a head up display with additional "normal" dials perfectly.

    Interior looks fab, I wonder if BMW/Audi/VW are going to rethink their 'evolutionary' strategy in the light of more adventurous designs like this. They are starting to look very conservative/boring to my eyes but I accept that for many people, they are the benchmark and few can fault the build quality. So, its nice to have manufacturers like Peugeot, Volvo etc prepared to take a more adventurous route with their models and give the consumer some choice rather than the cookie cutter approach that that many adopt.

    The blind spot light comes on only when you can't see the car in the actual mirror, as it should be. In most cars it's almost constantly turned on, even when you can clearly see the car in the mirror and it's not in the blind spot. That is actually MORE dangerous, because you can see the car clearly in the side view mirror but the blind spot light is turned on too, so it confuses you and you don't know if the car you see is the only one next to you or if there is another object in your blind spot. Peugeot actually does this system more cleverly than others do, because the light turns on ONLY when there is really something in your blind spot, so there is never any confusion. Most cars have these blind spot sensors way too sensitive.

      I have done a test drive 1.2 petrol version, upto 150km/h on a motorway. Smooth engine speed gain is uniform but no sudden surge and have to push the peddle deeper. Very quite. If the engine is durable would be a good choice for flat and rolling terrains including city. It has auto engine off option when idle but it does not turn off the engine if the outside temperature is high when you use the A/C. However, I'm not sure how it perform on hill country with relatively steep grade and when you fully loaded.

    About 360 camera view (surround)...reason why you do not see some parts around the car is because 3008 doesn't have 4 cams but two...one in front and one in the back. When you start moving vehicle cameras are recording surroundings and then give you instant view. This takes place almost instantly...there is no area where cameras do not work :)...simply, there are no side cameras like on upper class vehicles

    Thanks Thomas another great review. i have to decide now either the Ateca or the 3008. I fell in love with the icockpit when I saw it, but as my father used to say.. more to go wrong. The Seat seems like better build quality and as you mention seems a little sportier than the 3008. The 3008 does wrap you up in its seats, but I can't really get over the somewhat bulbous front end. It's very high. I kind of think they over compensated trying to make it different from the last model. Anyway thanks again.. Love Autogefuhl.

    1. About the blind spot system, did it have any warning while you trying to switching lanes?
    2. The turn signals at the back of the car are modern and also small, do you think it may sometimes confuse other drivers from behind that they didn't notice the turn signal? Especially in the daytime?

    I like the design and I was seriously interested in buying this car but it occured that it has some annoying features, e.g. the 1.6 THP engine is only combined with automatic gearbox which I didn't want; android auto doesn't work in my country and navigation system is rediculously expensive; the silhouette is a bit too massive from the outside (for me as I'm not a big woman) and last but not least, a decent specification is relatively too expensive.
    But I still think it's a great car, just not for me :)
    Talking about panoramic roof, I'm driving now a car with a glass roof and I really enjoy the amount of light inside the car and my passengers (especcially children) just adore watching the sky, clouds, stars and so on :)

  • @jaga2005uk
    @jaga2005uk 7 лет назад +1

    At last the review comes. Waiting for some time for this review. Thanks Thomas. Great review again. Few things to clarify with your experience and appreciate if you can give some clarifications; I'm considering to buy 1.2 petrol engine Allure version of 3008 I'm doing less than 10,000 km's per year in average. Out of 60% would be on motorway driving and about 30% City and 10% in hilly areas with steep grades.
    1. Do you think 1.2 liter petrol engine would be good for my use? Would there be sufficient power to drive on hilly areas, spec says 131 Hp and 230Nm torque?
    2. 1.2 liter engine seems smaller engine for this kind of SUV. It feels large when you drive (did a small test run). What do you think about the performance of this engine in long run? Will there be any issue using this kind of engine for long run? What do you recommend?
    3. Agree with you comments on electronics. I saw few dead-pixels on 12.3" display on the test vehicle. pretty sure will have to replace the display soon.
    4. It is too early to comment on durability and reliability on this vehicle. Still customer delivery has not been done most parts of the world. Overall based on your previous experience with Peugeot, what do you think about the durability of peugeot vehicles?

    • @autogefuehl
      @autogefuehl  7 лет назад +2

      I did have some talk about the petrol engines yesterday. The 1.6 l is an old engine, does not have a great displacement-performance-ratio, but you can also argue that it is well tested. The new 1.2 l is indeed new and supposed to be efficient, however I am always sceptic when there is more hp out of less displacement. So what we are going to do is having another 3008 test in August with the 1.6 l petrol. Of course if you dont go over 20.000 km a year, a petrol engine is your right choice, be it the 1.6 or the 1.2. About long term durability, Dekra Gebrauchtwagenreport says for the predecessor 3008 model that it scored average results. Not too bad, not superb either.

      Thank you Thomas. today I had a test drive 1.2 l GT line, 3008. little bit slow acceleration but transition seems smooth. drove upto 150km/h on motorway and had to push the peddle to the bottom but it gains the speed gradually. It seems should be ok for city driving and motorway driving. But my main worry is will this engine is enough for steep grades (more than 6%) when I'm travelling with my family with luggages? Will it struggle or not ? cannot find a near-by place to do a test drive and peugeot dealer was also not sure about this. Any comments on this please? also the dealer said this 1.2 and 1.6 engines has won "engine of the year awards" does this mean anything on performance or durability?

      Lolitha if it is torque that you need, fuel economy and motorway cruising whilst fully loaded, get the 1.6 Diesel with 120 hp. Yes the economics do not work out because Diesel models are more expensive to buy. However, if what you NEED is torque, Diesel is best. You will recoop some of the extra cash during the years of ownership at least.

      thanks VArgenton, Diesel is not a option for me. With my driving pattern I need petrol version.

      1.2 liter engine is surprisingly punchy, it has decent amount of torque, plus 3008 itself is pretty light for a crossover. But since you plan to traver with loaded car at steep grades that calls for an engine upgrade in any car.

    Hey Thomas what up?
    Question: are you gonna review the 2017 Jeep Compass Trailhawk and limited edition or the revised compass?

    I am wondering: Does it still make sense to buy a Diesel-car? With all the restrictions planed in Germany and Austria, it really bothers me. Maybe you can make a video about it

    You compare it only as a french car -- what do you think vs the tiguan, ateca, CX5, etc?

      I think 3008 and CX-5 are the best compact crossovers on the market right now.
