Laporta did Xavi dirty! He Convinced Xavi to stay just to fire him after a couple of weeks!
Even as a Madrid fan, I see that as a huge disrespect!
That old fart suffers from narcisstic personality disorder. Did anyone see how he was dragging that ucl femeni trophy with the coach instead of asking the captain who actually played to hold it! Like seriously the president shouldn't be the main character. It's the players who deserve the limelight. I never see that with any other club or NT.

Xavi was extremely naive to believe laporta especially after what he did with messi. Laporta took advantage of the selfless love of both messi and xavi to humiliate both. Xavi should have gone with his instincts and quit instead of believing laporta's false promises.
He’s the one that said he didn’t wanna stay originally. His departure was handled terribly and Laporta’s actions are inexcusable, but Xavi shoulda stuck to his word. The board didn’t really support him and made their own signings without his ok. Shoulda just left gracefully and let Laporta be the face of this BS.
When Xavi originally announced he was leaving he was laying the blame largely on the media. Then he went on a pretty good stretch in the league, secured the QF in the UCL, and suddenly the board was begging him to stay and promising to support him. Apparently Laporta understood that support to be conditional on total alignment with his own agenda, specifically whitewashing the clubs problems. Nothing Xavi said after they decided to keep him on was wrong or out of place, it just didn't put a particularly good look on them. So they decided to make themselves look even worse by firing him for it. Kindergarden level politicking.

@@neikomccalla2623 well yoi have to understand that the board would be made up of multiple people. What I heard ws that a few people on the board was not convinced by Xavi whilst the other majority of the board did not want Xavi to go. Laporta begged Xavi to stay which i think was quite wierd.

Luis Enrique’s Barca (2014/15) had a rate of 91.27 pts in 102 games. Xavi’s Barca (which apparently was far less skillful) had a rate of 85.31 pts in the 102 games’ frame. Considering the conditions in which Xavi found Barcelona: If a 5.96 pts difference is awful compared to Luis Enrique’s Barca (in their best time) you’re truly capricious and sadly incompetent. I think that Barcelona put themselves in a trap by convincing Xavi to stay at the club even though on his own terms he wanted to leave. If we knew that they would be in a situation where he was gonna get sacked, then maybe it wasn’t a good idea to beg him to stay right Laporta. With common sense they should’ve let him do what he wanted to do in the first place which was leave the club on his own terms and regardless of your performance after the announcement, you didn’t have to say anything or convince him to stay. You could tell that right after he made that announcement of staying at the club, there were things that were just going wrong behind the scenes and that convinced the club to get rid of him. There were probably leaks that he had problems with certain players in the dressing room, didn’t handle the Vitor Roque situation very well as he had no idea on what to do with him and it got to the point where even his agent publicly expressed the manager’s poor treatment that he received.
Even though they’re about to get Hansi Flick, this wasn’t the best way to treat a club legend even though his status as a legendary player we need to differentiate that from him as a manager. I won’t blame Xavi for any of this, because Barcelona has the bigger blame for how poorly this soap opera was handled because his intention was to leave, but you wanted him to stay just to sack him. Do they see what they’re doing and this is why it’s confusing to me with the way that these football clubs are ran besides I don’t hold back when I call it a circus. It makes no sense and clubs look foolish for making those types of mistakes and only time will tell if Barcelona will regret sacking Xavi or not.

Oh NOW you wanted to stay. Months ago you were already ready to give up and leave. Then, when Laporta talked to you about staying, you told him you could make it work despite the financial issues. Only to then go out publicly and basically say you couldn't compete because of the financial issues. Despite Laporta having already given you over 250m Euros to spend and the players Barca spent the most on, you wanted.

Laporta is the problem. Told Messi he would guarantee his place if he endorsed him during elections, u turn in the summer. Brought in Cruyff and Alemany as sporting directors who each had experience for many years at other clubs, then got rid of them to let inexperienced Deco in charge. Then Alemany came back, then left again. Pique left on bad terms, Koeman left in bad terms, and now Xavi. Maybe each one of these guys had reasons they should go, but the way Laporta does it is dirty and disrespectful.

Everyone who wanted Xavi out will realize eventually that Xavi was a "coach" trying to get players playing better and not just a strategy manager. He may not be the best coach or manager in the world BUT he was the perfect person for Barcelona at that point in time, we lost our best players, had no academy players up to the worldclass level and were at the risk of missing top 4 places. Xavi turned that around, got us 2 trophies and left the team with young established players like Gavi, Balde, Pedri, Araujo and almost ready players like Yamal, Cubarsi and future players like Guiu and Fort
Whoa whoa whoa. Firstly, Gavi, Balde, Pedri and Araujo are all players who first saw extensive minutes under Koeman. He was developing them. He is the one who chose both Pedri AND Gavi, over Puig, when the entire fanbase was calling for Puig. Yamal and Cubarsi I give you. Secondly, he didn't turn it around until he was given a number of reinforcements in the January transfer window that Koeman wasn't given. Along with Dembele finally being healthy.

This is a case of desperation. I've been racking my mind out to see how this transpired and have come to this conclusion which I believe is not further from the actual truth.
First of all, even a casual football fan knows the situation of FC Barcelona's mess and turmoils because it has been and still is very well documented. So knowing all this why would Flick, whom obviously knows a lot more than the casual fan, take the job and the answer is simple he's a desperate man given his disastrous run with the German National Team and he also probably with lots of wishful thinking dove head first just to redeem himself.
Now we come to Laporta, a somewhat educated individual, for reasons beyond me, thinks all the chaos and financial mess at FC Barcelona are somehow shielded to the public. All of Laporta's not so smart choices, as pointed out by Gab when it comes to all those levers being pulled was not good for the long run, which has now been proven, and by the way if Laporta pulls another lever it will send him and his lapdog Deco out into the Med, all of those are also made public and the public knows. So again this strange unprofessional move by Laporta is also a sign of desperation of somewhat trying to erase his shortcomings from history by hiring Flick.
So what we got are two desperate acts and again two desperations don't make a right and again it will be proven this coming season.

Xavi is the king of excuses. There is always something to blame. The grass is too tall, too dry, too frozen. The refs, the refs, the refs. The ball is different in UCL than in La Liga. The players don’t like playing under the sun. The pitch is too small. There was too much success the previous season. These are all actual excuses Xavi made about performances.
Cancelo and Felix are easy to get rid of because they're going back to their clubs since they were on loan.
Maybe flick would keep cancelo. Felix is good and has had pretty good moments, but the issue with felix is his pace. If he is in his early 20s and runs that slow his career in football is hopeless unless he plays at Cam or maybe Cm.

How is Xavi a mediocre manager? In his first half season took Barca from 9th to 2nd. 1st full season won Laliga and Super cup. 2nd season came 2nd and got to quarterfinal UCL. Gave 15 academy players first team roles and leaving the squad more stable than he met it. And this is mediocre in two and half years? I don't get it.

Koeman didn't even have a striker and all of his wingers were injured. Then, Laporta spent another 200m on reinforcements that summer (Kounde, Raphinha, Lewandowski). On top of free transfers. While Laporta was too busy making Koeman's life miserable to even give him all the free transfers he wanted. Xavi did not take the exact same squad Koeman had and take it to 2nd.

After the psg disaster laporta had every reason to fire him, that game exposed the shortcomings of xavi, he is unable to build a defense, he had 2:years and made the backline worse, we all know barca is soft at the back, this has been the Achilles heel in 10 years. xavi is not a good manager full stop, the team set up never had a balance under him, i never felt they were winners and playing with self belief.
The man who tried to focus more on the defense was Koeman, but when he tried to play the 3-5-2, all of the fanbase and club railed against him. The Barca way, includes a weak spot in defense.
