Using a calibration panel that was designed for a camera with different wavelengths is definitely going to affect the precision of reflectance values. DJI Mavic3M wavelengths: Green: 560 ± 16 nm; Red: 650 ± 16 nm; Red Edge: 730 ± 16 nm; Near infrared: 860 ± 26 nm; Micasense Altum, RedEdge 3 and RedEdge-MX (which I am assuming this older bigger panel is from): Green: 560± 20 nm; Red: 668 ± 10 nm; Red Edge: 717±10 nm; NIR: 840±40 nm; That should be pointed out!

And video features? it would be nice to have only one drone instead of two. Actually in the same flight I always need to do both video, photos, panos, and a photpgrammetry grid.
Could you tell us the total time it took to prepare/fly/process this 20 acre field? I'm trying to get an idea of how long it would take to do large fields and if it is realistic from a business perspective
Hello! It depends on the type of work you are doing. If you are only flying a crop once and you will not compare in time, you can just use the drone as it is. PIX4Dfields will apply the necessary correction and calibration with the information your drone already provides. A reflectance target is required to obtain reflectance factors and compare several flights in time of the same crop and even compare flights from different drones. Without such a target, only indices that are self-normalizing produce meaningful results, i.e. indices that don't depend on the absolute value. Examples of such indices are NDVI, NDRE, VARI, SIPI2, LCI, BNDVI, and GNDVI. Not self-normalizing are TGI and MCARI.
I've been asking around about the status of drones in Ag here in Yuma. It seems like there was a lot of studies and testing here back around 2016, but I have not seen or heard anything recently. Now this video just came out, and I see you are in Yuma!

Great work guys! What is a "good" flight height, in order to have proper RGB and Multispectral images for agri use? In other words what GSD number is considered adequate for mapping and creating indexes for agri use (NDVI etc)? Thank you
Hey, if it's about general plant vigor and larger-scale anomalies. Depending on the camera, you can go as low as 5 to 10 cm GSD, which should be over 120m flight height if your jurisdiction allows that. If you want to spot weeds and diseases or machine errors like clogged seeding rows, you should aim for GSDs under 3cm. That would be around 60m to 80m with this drone's 20MP sensor.
