Flying tortillas were on another level back then with BBoy Ivan. Kujo was entertaining to watch though. Thanks for that classic VHS. Brings back lots of good memories.
That power exchange between Ivan and MegaMan ( Sean ) - 31:30 was one of the highlights for me. More than just a power exchange it was also about speed. Something both of them were known for having. MegaMan with his near perfect form and Ivan with the continuous spins. You can tell both were waiting to go after each other since they weren't going out following the order after the others. The VHS era ! Memories ! Damn near every move I learned in my younger days came solely from FSS tapes. Respect from Los Angeles - ERRMAQ !
Ivan took the easy route and just went after MegaMan with halos instead of combing into halos. Which was smart at the same time cause less chance of messing up. MegaMan was hyped up but a bit gassed out too after doing a harder set.
NOW THIS IS WHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR STRIFE. THANKS SO0 MUCH FOR UPLOADING THIS. NOW THE JUSTICE THAT THESE BBOYS DESERVE WILL FINALLY BE RECOGNIZED AND GIVEN TO THEM INSTEAD OF THESE INTERNET BBOYS THINKING THAT THERE CURRENT FAVORITE BBOYS ARE TO BE LOOKED UP TO AS IF THEY INNOVATED ALL THESE MOVES THAT THEY'RE DOING TODAY IN BATTLES. EVEN IF THEY HATE IT OR IGNORE IT, IT WILL STILL BE THERE FOR THEM TO SEE. RESPECT TO ALL THE BBOYS FROM THIS VIDEO. CROS 1 SHOULD BE ABLE TO KNOW THESE NAMES.
seeing this uploaded is bittersweet... on the one hand its dope that more people will have access... but on the other hand i have just recently begun collecting tapes vhs and dvd and this kindof cheapens the search... idn
Yeah, that's Midus!! So innovative & yo does anyone else notice how the phrasing Cros uses, "last MOVE". Like It came down to a move. (not that he meant that literally) just thought it was interesting. Crazy how the atmosphere for competition has changed, particularly from the West coast. I Love this era in Bboyin'
What happened to that foo? I talked to him a couple of times on AIM then he stopped replying to me one day. He would lecture me and tell me to get into computer programming and shit. He was a nice guy.
THATS MADNESS RIGHT THERE. I MYSELF DONT CALL ANY BITES ON BATTLES EITHER BECAUSE IVE SEEN ENOUGH FOOTAGE TO KNOW THAT MOST MOVES OR TRANSITIONS TODAY COME FROM THESE 90'S CREWS. LIKE IN THE INTRO THERE IS THAT POWER MOVER THAT COMES RUNNING IN WITH A HANDSTAND WALK INTO AIRFLARE. WHEN I SAW THAT SHIT I LIKED IT AS A BLOW UP ENTRANCE AND LATER ON I WENT ON TO USE IT SINCE NOBODY AROUND THAT TIME WAS USING IT. IM TALKING YR 2003 - 2004. ITS STILL A BITE. RESPECT FOR THAT COMMENT ESE. RESPECT.
I was like 12 when I was at this freestyle seesion. Brings back so many memorys and how awesome and different the scene was. People battled for the love of the dance, not for recoginition or fame or money. Don't get me wrong the hip hop scene in La is still like a community but it's not like the golden days....
DJ Spinna & Nkansa - Hypnotic Needs🎉. From Rude Rydims -Rude Rydims Exsperement 2 (Instrumental.) Also playing Dungeon Dust and Nubian Crackers. All tracks from this artist is DOPE😎
i didn't mention anything about the popper. i mentioned the bboys that i knew only. and now that i think about it BARMACK is not even on the intro. but he does come out in last crew on crew battle. peace be with u.
i like how theyre just doing their shit and when someone does something cool, even if its not the best, they all cheer. ppl these days act like they're too good to be impressed -.- .
2nd battle I have NO IDEA! 3rd Battle: Crew on the left is Style Elements, first bboy out is Ivan Urban Action Figure. Not sure who the crew on the right is, or the members. Second bboy from Style Elements is Crumbs. Third bboy from Style Elements, maybe Manson???
DAMMM! U KNOW ABOUT HOMEWORK?? WOOOOHHH!! I THINK BBOYS TODAY WOULD LOOK AT HIM LIKE A CLOWN INSTEAD OF A UNIQUE AND CREATIVE BBOY. HIS SET WITH THE ELBOW SLIDE IN THE BEGINNING I'VE ALWAYS LIKED SINCE I FIRST SAW IT. THEN I SAW FOOTAGE OF HIM IN FSS3 AND I HAD TO LOOK HIM UP. 3 YRS AGO I SAW MIDUS ( ONE OF MY FAVORITE BBOYS ) AT A JAM BATTLING AND NO ONE GAVE PROPS BUT A FEW ( INCLUDING K-MEL ). MIKEYICE100 HAS CLASSIC FOOTAGE OF ALL THESE BATTLES FOR SALE WHICH HE TRANSFERS TO DVD.
Because b-boys have learned way more moves and combos now. Dj's at b-boy events usually don't play todays music anyway. Events are bigger, nicer, have more sponsors, look more professional. I admit I miss the rawness of back then, but certain things sucked about it. B-boy footage was so hard to get, b-boys were a bit sloppy but back then was not as big a deal to crash if you did a sick move.
THATS WHAT MADE HIS STYLE VERY UNIQUE TO ME. PERSONALLY IF I HAD A STYLE LIKE MIDUS, I WOULD HAVE TRIED TO HAVE FORMED A SUPER CREW OUT OF NOTHING BUT CREATIVE STYLES WITH BBOYS SUCH AS : MIDUS, HOMEWORK, MARIO ( HAVIKORO ), BANDIT, JESSE GERM ( VICIOUS GERMS ), FREE FROM CIRCLE OF FIRE, AND PARANOID ANDROID. THAT WOULD BE A DREAM LINE UP TO WATCH BATTLE AS A CREW. STRANGE THING IS THAT MY STYLE IS BEING WELL ROUNDED IN ALL STYLES IN BREAKING AND I DONT HAVE THERE CHARACTER. BUT THEY INSPIRE ME
Ok, I'll try to contribute what I can. Hopefully with enough input we can compile a list of the crews/bboys to put in the description or something. 1st Battle: Soul Control on the left. Bboy Kujo 3:15 5:55 is Charles AKA Goku (I think?) This is all I know from the first battle.
@@kiryas_ That's Ronnie Ruen. One of the best power heads in the early 2000's. He's in pretty much every FSS after this one. He was even in number 3 if I'm not mistaken.
Based on the b-boys you mentioned in consecutive order, you replaced the popper with Ruen. I just followed what you typed from one b-boy to the next. If typed that this was in no particular order then it would be fine.
OK HERE IS THE ORDER FROM SOME OF THE BBOYS I KNOW FROM THE INTRO: 1 - ERIC, 2 - NEVER KNEW THAT POWER MOVERS NAME. STILL WOULD LIKE TO KNOW. 3 - IVAN, 4 - KUJO, 5 - CAVEMAN , 6 - REVEAL , 7 - RUEN, 8 - CRUMBS, 9 - HOMEWORK, 10 - RAWBZILLA ( I BELIEVE ), 11 - BARMACK ,12 - DONT KNOW, 13 - BENNY KIMOTO ( FIRST TO DO 5 AIRTRACKS. NOTE: AIRTRACK IS A COMBO, NOT A AIRFLARE. 2 DIFFERENT MOVES. BENNY DID THEM FROM A WINDMILL. SOME DO IT FROM FLARE ), AND THE LAST GUY I DONT KNOW HIS NAME.
The internet has over saturated people with all the moves and such, back in the 90's when you were at a jam there was a good chance a lot of the stuff you saw was fresh so people got more exited. From what I can tell via the internet lol people in certain parts of the world get hype for dance and in other places people pose

my first bboy vid...thanks so much for this.
Ivan’s breaking here was timeless. No matter what generation of breakin we enter, the stuff he was producing here will always be fresh and raw.
