Look at Percy, at the 5 minute mark. Alma walks into her own business premises. Percy looks at his watch and demands Alma account for her timekeeping.
Then, he goes on to blithely insult her. Telling her that her lifestyle is showing in her face. Percy believes he knows all about her lifestyle and is, for whatever daft reason, in a position to approve or disapprove of it.
If I was Alma I would've tore strips off the old fool. I would've brought up the fact that he's not a property owner, just a lodger, and has never spoken of anything he's ever owned, any marriage or family, or anything else he's ever achieved that gives him the right to act as the self-appointed Lord of Coronation street.

There was some mistake about Gail's age around now. She gained ten years because of a typing error on the backstage character profile. In 1979 Gail was 21. But, circa 89/90 she stated she'd soon be 40. All down to that typing error. Gail's birth year was 1958, but a slip of the typewriter put it back to 1950. I think it's been corrected since.

The reason, Alan Bradley was a GREAT, INTRUGING character who was worth watching. BTW, I personally think the sentence of two years is a JOKE - in real life, his crimes of Attempted Murder/Identity theft would be a 15 yr sentence.

Ivy had something against Martin. She hated the fact that Gail and Martin got together months after Brian was stabbed to death. Ans she was against Gail having her surname changed from Tilsley to Platt when she and Martin got married. And when Martin was gonna adopt Nick and Sarah who were gonna have the same surname as Martin and David she believed it was ruining Brian’s name. If Ivy was around during Gail’s Marriage with Richard Hillman, Richard would’ve got rid of Ivy without a trace like he did with his ex wife.

Although it's hard to say, because when Mark Eden was in the show a few years earlier as a different character, he was also very aoof and cold. So maybe it's actually just the actor's style
