Hello! Now I'm curious about the meme you mentioned, haha.😆
Look up “how to draw an owl”
@@Cruck2 Oh. Thank you : )
Thank you for this video! Watching along with another artist and learning while drawing helps keep me motivated and excited to draw again. Looking forward to more videos from you. 👍
Thank you for enjoying my video. It encourages me as well. Let's draw together.👍 : )
Ya quiero ver mas tutoriales tuyos !!! Eres increíble dibujando❤❤❤
Wow! Thank you for appreciating my drawing. : ) 👍👍
That wolf shoulder pad is such a cool design. I hope that dagger in the mouth is removable/usable. Thank you for sharing your process!
Yes, that's right! The concept is that the dagger can be detached and used. Thank you for the compliment.👍👍
Good video and knowledge shariing!!
Keep it up Thank you Very much
Thank you. Your support motivates me to keep making videos. Have a great day! : )
Amazing. Please do a video just for coloring more in details step by step, never understood how to do this. Also, one video for setting loght and how to shade accordingly
I will use this as a reference for my next video. Thank you for the feedback. : )

Also can you make a video on how you use the references when designing a character?
Thank you for your kind words. That's a great idea. I'll consider making a video about how to utilize reference materials in character design. : )

wonderful, it was a very detailed process, thank you very much, I'll even go back to drawing! How do you organize the references you use? I could also make a video with a female body, I have a lot of difficulty, when I do it I look like a crooked potato!
Oh, thank you. I'm looking forward to it. In my case, I organize reference materials into folders for colors, characters, backgrounds, and accessories. When needed, I refer to the collected images.
Amazing, thank you very much
Thank you for your kind words!
Love it. Please upload more sir. 🙏🏻
Wow! Thank you for liking my video~❤
ngl, seeing a knight with hiking shoes is kinda funny x), nice art.
Oh. It's not that I drew hiking boots. It's a small thing, but I'm glad it made you smile. Thank you for seeing it in a positive light. : )
Knew the shift for straight line trick but sword in front I had not yet learned.
You can place a sword or any other weapon in front. However, to draw it in correct perspective, you need to understand the basics of perspective. Perspective is based on the viewpoint, so you'll need to study that aspect.✍
Nice video bro, tks u
Thanks, bro. Have a great day!
this channel is a hiding gem for artists
Wow! Thank you for the high praise. If you liked the channel, please spread the word~🧡🙏
wow your work process was amazing to watch, i love it!! and the colors look so bright and lively, how do you achieve that starting from the grayscale base? usually they end up muddy and washed out for me, would love some pointers :3
I used a gradient map to adjust the tones of the colors when adding color from grayscale, and then worked on the details. I'll attach a link to the gradient map method. Feel free to check it out if you need it. blog.naver.com/toadart/223482358838
Great design and very impressive rendering. How much time did it take / does it usually take for a character of this complexity?
Thank you for the compliment. I worked on it for about a month while handling other tasks simultaneously.
Hey i love your work and steps ❤
Can you tell me how did you define resolution and dpi according to what you are gonna draw? What is this drwing's resolution
Thank you for appreciating my drawing.
Hmm… Resolution refers to the number of pixels in an image, affecting the size and detail of the image for both digital and print uses.
DPI (dots per inch) determines the quality of printed material, indicating how many dots are printed per inch.
And the resolution of this drawing is 3385x6000 pixels at 300 DPI. : )
@@YoungminSeooh i was drawing my skectches on 2000x2000 and it feels like a bit pixelated sometimes when draw something detailed.
thanks for such a long and detailed answer you are the best
@@azafzaf Ah, I see. I recommend trying to draw with a resolution of at least 3000. Have a great day! : )
Hi, how do you applied colors after the shading was done? It's just another layer with blocking colors, or was it blending mods and colours?
I used a gradient map to adjust the colors. If you're interested, I can provide the details separately.

Now draw the rest of the Owl!
Haha, owl? : ) 😂

Thank you so much! : )
Thanks for the video! The result is perfect!!! One more question: how time do you spend to complete all the process? Thanks!
Wow, thank you for the compliment! It took about a month as I was working on other tasks simultaneously.
@@YoungminSeo It isn't a compliment: it's the true! Thank you for your answer, I'm trying to improve my drawing. Thanks for all!
@@carlosarevalo3296 I'm also working on improving my drawing. Let’s do our best together, bro! : )
@@YoungminSeo Thanks!
Nice video. I just lost the coloring process.
Thank you for enjoying it. : )
What brushes you use? your style somewhat reminds me of christopher Y
Wow, thank you. I usually use basic brushes or Gaussian brushes, and I sometimes use custom brushes for texture. : )
How do you put the flat colors and the gray scale together? Do you put it in devide or overlay? In this part is where i always had the worst and longest time to edit and finish
Grayscale was applied using the multiply blending mode over a flat color. : )
@@YoungminSeo oh so the grayscale mode was put to multiply and the flat color was in the bottom? Mode still in normal? I always thought the flat color was the one that should be put in overlay or multiply and put the grayscale below then edit the rest to finish the art, i always got stuck for a few hours rendering and fixing the colors because of that. Thank you very much for that new tip! That helps me a lot! Thank you!
@@randy5613 So Base shape with flat color=> new layer with shading set to multiply=> each flat color layer is separated and in between the shading layer and main clipped layer.
You can check marc brunet for this process as well, he explains the technique in great detail.
Thanks for this video. I have a few questions:
- Do you use multiply layer for B&W shading?
- What is the order of shading layer & color layer? I mean, which one on top? Any blending mode in this phase? :D
Yes, it’s a multiply layer.
I place the color flat layer underneath and the shading layer on top. Above that, I use a gradient map to adjust the color values. : )
@@YoungminSeo Aha, gradient map, that's why I'm confusing the 2 layers, usually we can't "see" the below layer. I hope you have another video to explain how to use the gradient map. :D Thanks.
@@DEADEYESpress ruclips.net/video/fGcWS9jt_Ho/видео.html
The black-masked layers around this point are the gradient map layers. I’ll add more details about this in my next video. Thanks for your feedback. : )

oh lord wwehn will i reach this level
Wow! Thank you for appreciating my drawing. I think it depends on what level you are currently at. However, you can do it anytime. Let's work hard together! : )
@@YoungminSeo I am doing animation course and to make traditional animation or fx I need strong drawing. It doesn't have to be realistic but line of action strokes body balance, and alot. Has to be taken care of. And I also did character design as side but my drawing wasn't that good as it was self taught. I was also worried about ai too. The motivation to improve faded but watching people like you brings my passion to do it anyway
@@winterapplegamingYT203 Thank you for appreciating my drawing. It’s impressive that you’re studying animation. I also had concerns about AI, but to survive in these times, we need to think of it as a tool to enhance our art by improving quality through AI, receiving auxiliary help, or gaining inspiration for creation. I don’t think you should worry about your character design skills being self-taught. We live in an era with an abundance of information, so if you want, you can fully understand and learn from expert designs. Let’s draw together and improve beyond who we were yesterday. : )
@@YoungminSeo ❤️ thanks mate for guiding.
what is blend mode you use for Greyscale layer?
Yes, it’s a multiply layer.
@@YoungminSeo Thank you, I love your video, hope you will release more video like this in future!
what brushes are you using?
I am using basic brushes, Gaussian brushes, and custom-made brushes. : )
Hmmm can you draw a cat you know the fur:’)
I'm sorry. I don't have plans to draw a furry cat at the moment. However, the next drawing concept will involve a cat theme.
How many hours the whole work took?
I worked on it for about a month while juggling other tasks. : )
@@YoungminSeo Thank you for your answer! Speedpaints always make me think that the work was made fast and simple, and this is very frustrating. It is always good to know that painting took time)
@@sini4ka111 I agree with that point. Full-length videos can be too boring to watch, and short videos might be lacking. So, I focus on creating content that delivers the necessary information appropriately.
Adobe no-no. No Shift for straight lines I guess.
In Photoshop, you can use the Shift key while in brush mode to draw straight lines.🤔
@@YoungminSeo I won't even consider Adobe for drawing after their unsubscription fees extortion and AI stunts. Good that there are many other tools for drawing.
@@oleksiyraiu7190 Ah, I see. What other drawing tools do you use then?
@@YoungminSeoi'm on clip studio paint... just jumping in in case you'd consider making a tutorial with it :)

All the magic is in painting shades of gray. There's no way to learn it, because there's no way to determine how much lighter or darker an area is and what shade of gray to use.
Thank you for the comment. Personally, I think when you set the light and space, you can determine the surrounding environment values. Based on those values, I recommend deciding how to use the shades.
@@YoungminSeo For simplicity's sake, let's take your drawing of just the character. You have a value from 90% (lightest areas) to 16% (darkest areas). Why so, and not for example 70%-30% or something else. Further we can assume that you have highlight=90%, midtone=60%, core shadow=30%, cast shadow= 15%. But these are just general values. Otherwise it would be anime coloring, or cel shading. In reality there are also 85, 25, 40.... and other grayscale values. It is in these transitions that the difficulty lies, because no one will explain why he makes a little lighter here and a little darker here, and most importantly by what value. That is, for example, here is a section you have a shadow value of 28%, and here 30%, and here 32%... All these values are core shadow. How should a person think to realize that on this section core shadow should be 28 and on this section 30?
@@ShadowWind82 I feel like I lack the basis to talk about the nuances of shading that vary depending on the environment. However, there are programs that support shading based on the shadows cast by light falling on objects. For a lighter approach, I recommend checking out methods on the Magic Poser website. I'll share the link below for you to explore. Please share your insights when you find answers regarding light and shadows. Here's the link to the Magic Poser website Have a great day! webapp.magicposer.com/
I dont get how you get from black and white to color. This tutorial feels useless especially the last part.
