Doria is actually an Italian name. It was one of the dominant families in the late medieval Genoa. The Doria family remained a wealthy family to the XX century and a member of the family married the oldest son of the former kind of Italy. We also have a Doria brand cookies, generally the make breakfast cookies, very simple ones that we have for breakfast dunked in coffee or milk.
Shinichi, every nation loves carbs on carbs. One of the first popular English cookbooks featured a recipe for a toast sandwich. Germany's kartoffelklöße regularly demand you stuff them with croutons. India has aloo paratha. Italy's breaded arancini. Mexican burritos. Carbs on carbs is what unites all people of the world.
Another great video from you guys! Thanks a lot. By the way, I appreciate a lot the fact that you film the actual food before you eat it. Many youtubers do not show us the food before cutting into it or breaking it into pieces.
Nice to see Shinichi-san eating & enjoying the food without worrying about caleries! Lol. You can afford to eat & enjoy! Yes we enjoy these videos. Shinichi you are looking great! I missed you & Satoshi making these videos! 👍👍👍❤❤❤
You two always make my tummy growl. I'm serious! Love your videos! Our 7-11's here in Texas are really branching out food wise. They are making many contracts with different companies to distribute diffrent foods in thier stores under the 7-11 label. Our selection is no where near yours but they are working on it! They make great products and so far everything they've unveiled is super tasty.
The 7 eleven stores in Asia seems to be better than the 7-Eleven's in the United States. By the way, they all looked delicious! I also want to mention, it's nice to wake up and see a notification that you guys have a new video for me to watch. I tell all my friends about this wonderful channel!
Thank you! I intend eating from a large variety of places but I have to try the amazing convenience food too. I also expect to bring home a suitcase full of snacks 😊
I absolutely LOVE this new convenience store series you guys are doing! Thank you thank you thank you! These make me miss Japan so much! Keep up the good work!!!
Great video as always guys!! Hello from the UK gratin in the UK is sliced potato's with garlic and pepper bechamel sauce & grated cheese on top and cooked in the oven x
You will never know just how jealous I am that you have 7-11’s that make such varieties of restaurant-quality dishes that look and obviously taste amazing! Oh how I wish the 7-11’s here in the US would take note and see how incredible the 7-11’s in Japan are and emulate that!!! I love watching your 7-11 videos and if I had to pick, the curry one enticed me the most!
Out of all the RUclips "tasting" channels I have watched, yours does the best in describing the flavors and textures of food. Sometimes too well and I have to get a snack! ;)
Wonderful. I wish our 7-eleven here in the states had amazing food like you guys have. I love your food tasting videos, although it makes me hungry and wishing I could get these. Thanks guys see you in the next video
Oh I love you guys! You make my heart smile! This video was so deliciously hard to watch because it all looked AH-MAZING! I don't know how you narrowed it down to one because it would be so hard to me. Watching Satoshi explain why he liked to garlic shrimp one was like he was conducting an orchestra, LOL! It must have been really good! Thanks for sharing this video and I can't wait to see your top 10 video. Take care!
Hi Shinichi and Satoshi! I am SO envious of your 7-11's in Japan! You have the best assortment of food! Here in the states it is basically hot dogs and snacks. I think my favorite would have been the first cheese and shrimp gratin and second, the curry doria. Shinichi, your hair looked on point in the video! Satoshi, love that you have glasses for all of your outfits! 😊❤
I absolutely LOVED this video it was soooo interesting to learn about the Japanese versions of gratin and doria. You guys looked like you really enjoyed making this one too. 🙂👍 i don't think i have heard quite so many mmmmmmmm's of pleasure before lol. I really wanted to try the curry one it looked so delicious!
Oh, interesting. Here in Sweden, we have pasta gratin and gratin made with either potatoes or root vegetables in general, but I've never seen any made with rice before. But that seems super yummy. Might have to try that someday.
I never knew what to have in Japan for 7/11 so stuck with Japanese food. The Margareta is definitely just pasta as with Marg pizza has cheese&tomato. I grew up on cheese, but how long has Japan loved cheese so much? Looks yummy, next time in Japan will try new options. Thanks guys
All this looked amazing !!!! Now I have to see if I can find some recipes for them online !!! Both of you make me so curious to try things (You make them seem SO tasty ..... love you both ❤❤😚
I had the mentai mochi cheese gratin from Lawson at New Chitose airport--glad that there was still something yummy to choose from at closing time! Just also want to let you know that I've been hooked on watching TabiEats since last February; when I found your videos while researching Hokkaido. We were there in July and I still have memories of Naruto zangi, Curry Shop S and Kitakaro cream puffs swirling around in my head :o )
In Italy we have pasta gratin just like yours, with besciamelle, cheese and bread crumbs, short pasta like maccaroni. But Doria is your creation and I’m sure it’s oishi 💕
This was fun! I've always wished I could try doria. It looks so delicious! The gratin dishes look really great, too. I loved the mentaiko dish at the end with mochi as well...isn't that marvelous? Now you know more dishes to enjoy at 7-11 when you go, and they look so warm and comforting for winter, too. Thanks for the great video, and I look forward to seeing you both at the livestream! :-)
It was an amazing video you guys posted I like the shrimp one as well not the curry one so much I don't like Curry but they all did look interesting and I would definitely want to see more of the 7-Eleven ones and some vending machine ones if you can and thank you for making such an amazing video you guys go through so much but it's definitely worth it I've watched every single one of your videos they're absolutely amazing there's so much stuff I want to go to Japan to try locations and food
The big Japanese Konbini like 7/11, Famima and Lawson's should sponsor you guys for creating... Konbini tourism!! 😁 Everyone wants to come to Japan just to eat at Konbini because of your awesome videos!! Keep up the great content! 👍✨
That first one was mac-n-cheese with shrimp and another one reminded me of baked ziti - definitely more on the spaghetti/lasagna spectrum. I'm really interested in trying these though and would love a recipe for a non-tomato rice gratin. This also brings Au Gratin Potatoes to mind, something my family traditionally enjoys with ham dinner for holidays like Easter or even Christmas.
I like that you both go "umm" at the same time😀 Japan is 7-11's biggest market...bigger than U.S.A. The turn around on food is much faster that's why everything is so fresh. I went to 7-11 when I was in Japan and was awestruck by how much they had foodwise. Here in the States it's mostly junk food type stuff which is okay ...but ...well you know❤🌺💙🌸😀 Love you guys keep up the cool videos ...domo arigato gozaimashite❤
I’d guess doria is somehow related to Spain or Portugal. Haha I looked it up. Very multicultural. “I always thought that doria was actually a Japanese dish that just had a an Italian name、but apparently (checking with wikipedia) it is originally an Italian dish that was made in Paris, and included tomato, cucumber and eggs (whites), for the three colors of the Italian National flag. In 1925 it was introduced to Japan in Yokohama at the New Grand Hotel where it was cooked by as French cuisine by the Swiss chef who was visiting. It was made with small prawns.” Found it in an article on the internet.
Hey guys, I'm not sure if you realize the origin of the Margherita style bowl. From what I can tell, that "gratin" was an attempt at emulating the most famous Italian style of pizza - Margherita pizza. That was a macaroni interpretation of it. As soon as you showed it, I could tell that's what they were going for. Margherita means daisy (flower) in Italian. The mozzarella and basil leaves are kind of arranged on the pie to look like a simple daisy against the red background. It's always on a thin, crispy crust. It's my favorite style of pizza!
Ohayo boys! I have never heard of Doria. I had to Google it......It said that it originated in France. Growing up, I always loved adding gohan to my mom’s tomato based stew, and of course, I always loved putting beef gravy on my gohan, along with some shoyu. I know that I would really enjoy Doria. I would love to see you boys teach us how to make the Shrimp Doria with Tomato Cream on TabiEats. I love Keema curry! That’s my curry of choice at the Curry House, whenever we go. I also love Hamburg steak. Just not sure about the cheese(s) on the Doria though. That Mentaiko and mochiko gratin.....😋 As always, I’m totally impressed with your 7-Eleven! Great video brothers! Thank you! I cannot wait for the next video!
Mindy's Mom The doria looks so yummy, doesn't it, sister? I would love to try it, with some adaptations at home. I've heard of it before, but I have not tried to make it yet. I think you have a great idea....they should make a video for shrimp doria! I look forward to seeing you at the livestream tonight, sister.
Erin Uber......Sister, it does look so yummy! I’ve truly never heard of that dish before. Im going to Yelp our local Japanese restaurants, to see if Doria is available on the menu. YES! YES!! I can’t wait to see you on the livestream tonight! Praying that you’re feeling better today sister! 🙏♥️
The only yellow rice I knew was saffron rice. I found recipes for turmeric rice online and will make turmeric rice next time I eat curry! Thank you for the idea!
I love this video, you can really have a full lunch experience for less than $5 compared to here where the average is like $8-10! And the food looks great(:
Nope, you can always pop into dollar tree grab yourself frozen pizza for $1, chicken potpie for $1 and a drink total $3 + tax or, 2 chicken potpie and go grab a bread.
When I go to Japan, I always look for the nearest konbini to my hotel. First thing we do is stock up on beverages and snacks, but this time I'll be looking for some gratin and doria. Won't you please make some kantan cheese dishes 😊?
I'm not sure why... When I went to Tokyo in October, the major convenience stores my friends and I saw was Family Mart! We had been looking high and low for 7-E but... I dunno.... Will try to search for 7-E again next time!
At first I couldn't think of any gratins in the US that had macaroni but then I remembered baked mac and cheese. My favorite gratin is potatoes au gratin...lol. That cheese burger gratin looked soo good though.
Nothing like this at our 7-Eleven’s in the United States. The only time you would want to eat there is if you were desperate and there was absolutely nothing else. So different in Japan it seems, gourmet!
Is that really macaroni or is it penne? Shinichi: It's macaroni. But it's got no bend and slanted ends... like a pen. Shinichi: It's macaroni. Screams at the screen: It's penne Shinichi!

Your convenience store videos are always fascinating ( and hunger inducing) Wish US 7-11s had similar items
Ditto. That's why I ate breakfast while watching.
Right? Our 7-11 sucks!
Wouldn't that be nice!
7/11 in Japan seem to have endless choices!

Im a cook for over 21 years. You guys rock love you
I am hooked. You guys are great. Today I found you. I have binge watched all day. Thanks for the wonderful reviews.
Another great video from you guys! Thanks a lot. By the way, I appreciate a lot the fact that you film the actual food before you eat it. Many youtubers do not show us the food before cutting into it or breaking it into pieces.
Glad you enjoy our videos!
You two are honestly such an inspiration with your videos, they are always so well put together and so satisfying to watch ❤️
Nice to see Shinichi-san eating & enjoying the food without worrying about caleries! Lol. You can afford to eat & enjoy! Yes we enjoy these videos. Shinichi you are looking great! I missed you & Satoshi making these videos! 👍👍👍❤❤❤

I really cannot get enough of these 7E videos. NEED MWOREEEE!!!
I LOVE videos about konbini food!
Red velvet pesty cake
Me too! The food they can get over in Japan is so different from what you can get here in the us. And also seems to be much higher quality.
The 7 eleven stores in Asia seems to be better than the 7-Eleven's in the United States. By the way, they all looked delicious! I also want to mention, it's nice to wake up and see a notification that you guys have a new video for me to watch. I tell all my friends about this wonderful channel!
More like in East Asia. 7-11 in Singapore & Indonesia sucks.
12 days and Counting till I get to Tokyo. .. So excited... I cannot wait to try all the convenience store food you guys have reviewed.. yay.
Hello Kitty Have a wonderful trip to Tokyo! Enjoy the trip, and all the delicious food! :-)
You're going to have an amazing time! I hope you get to try more food than just the convenience store ones! 😜
Thank you! I intend eating from a large variety of places but I have to try the amazing convenience food too. I also expect to bring home a suitcase full of snacks 😊
Erin Uber , thank you I'm sure it will be incredible experience😊 I simply cannot wait....
Hello Kitty Bravo! That sounds like a fantastic plan! There are so many tasty Japanese snacks. I hope you'll tell us about your trip! :-)

Love how satoshi enjoys food
Hi Satoshi and Shinichi good to see you guy's be safe God BLESS to all
Great video. That vegetable curry doria looked absolutely incredible.
We'll be touching down in Osaka in exactly 6 weeks from now. Super excited.
Great video as always guys!!

I really love how the Japanese are so adventurous with flavours and textures.
I could see Shinichi visibly traveling back to the past with that first bite of gratin.
Satoshi saying "heavenly" is the very best part! I would have chosen the same! Great video!
I don’t know exactly what it is about your taste test videos, but I just love them!
Oh I love you guys! You make my heart smile! This video was so deliciously hard to watch because it all looked AH-MAZING! I love dairy. I make au gratin sides with a vegetable (cauliflower, pumpkin or broccoli). It’s amazing during the winters. Good video 😎
Have you put out a video of how these are made...they look soo good. I have a mochi machine...would love to make the mochi one!
Hi Shinichi and Satoshi! I am SO envious of your 7-11's in Japan! You have the best assortment of food! Here in the states it is basically hot dogs and snacks. I have always wanted to try those but will have to get from family mart or Lawson’s as live in Okinawa. Thanks for doing this one
Can’t wait to try out some new 7/11 food in May !! Thanks for the video guys 👍🏻😁
I truly would like to try all of those Gratin and Doria dishes. 😋

Sheesh. I wish North American 7-11s had this type of quality food. It's just pizza, hot dogs, chicken wings, and taquitos.
Congratulations on the win guys!
All this looked amazing !!!! Now I have to see if I can find some recipes for them online !!! Both of you make me so curious to try things (You make them seem SO tasty ..... love you both ❤❤😚
I love your video about convenient shop or supermarket.

Amazing assortment of dishes. Great ideas for dishes to make at home.
Such bright lights in what can be an at times dim world.

I'm surprised you can get shrimp out of the microwave at that high temp without ruining it. They look delish!!

I love how you guys ask each other if you can eat a certain thing first. I am so hungry 😭😭😭😭 I wish Australian 7/11 was as great as Japan’s
Food I've never heard of, thank you!
Sending lots of love to you too. God bless from Johnson City Tennessee USA.
Meanwhile here in the US my choices at 7-11 are limited to week old taquitos or hot dogs.
I'm glad I ate breakfast before I watched this. Those all look delicious!

This is the only place this comment makes sense: I love adding rice to egg drop soup.
Also hi mindy's mom! 🙇♀️
LadyRedHawk.....Hi there! Yes! I forgot about adding rice to egg drop soup! YUM!!

I wish we had good food like that in our 7 Elevens.
lol everytime i watch your videos, it changes my plans for meals immediately. I guess I'll be making some sort of gratin doria for dinner now.
All the options looked 😋! 7-Eleven food options are awesome over there, here in the States not so much.....lol.
Interesting because in the US Gratin usually means potatoes (& often Cream/Milk and sometimes Cheese)!
it always impresses me how japanese convenience stores have such a wide diversity of instant meals and they're so cheap
Have you guys done a video of inside 7-11? They are so different than the ones in USA. I'd love to see what is like inside
They all looked great, I would spend quite a while trying to figure out which one to purchase .
The only yellow rice I knew was saffron rice. I found recipes for turmeric rice online and will make turmeric rice next time I eat curry! Thank you for the idea!
just watched Niki Niki..so elated your mom is soo much better! gota be a relief for yall
I love gratan so much my favorite 😍 yummy 😋
There are a TON of 7/11's here in NYC- but none of them have all the dishes you tried- I wish they did!! 😕
If we could get recipes on how to make Japanese style yoshoku that would be AMAZINGGG ;D
The mentaiko one looks so good!
they crack me up with the mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.. reminds me of one of the Skeksis in The Dark Crystal. yes, I'm aging myself!
You guys should try recreating the shrimp tomato cream Doria,
We love the 7/11 videos! Keep them coming!
Love the seven eleven videos!!!❤️
Oh that shrimp gratin has me drooling
Definitely not found in any of the Hawaii 7-11's. 8( I would love to try the Margherita Gratin and the Mentaiko Mochi bowls. Great video as always!
When I go to Japan, I always look for the nearest konbini to my hotel. First thing we do is stock up on beverages and snacks, but this time I'll be looking for some gratin and doria. Won't you please make some kantan cheese dishes 😊?
I want to move to Japan to...eat in 7-Eleven????
Haha why not! You should check out Strictly Dumplings video on 7-Eleven in Japan!
I also want to move to Japan so badly because of the konbini...
sameeeeeeee
I'm not sure why... When I went to Tokyo in October, the major convenience stores my friends and I saw was Family Mart! We had been looking high and low for 7-E but... I dunno.... Will try to search for 7-E again next time!
That store seems to be wonderful, really. Store-bought dishes definitely don't look like that where I live.
Hey 7-11! Everyone in the U.S. would eat this all the time!
Is that really macaroni or is it penne?
Shinichi: It's macaroni.
But it's got no bend and slanted ends... like a pen.
Shinichi: It's macaroni.
Screams at the screen: It's penne Shinichi!
According to my ex father-in-law who was Sicilian all pasta gets called macaroni regardless of shape.
