I'm a UK fan, but I'm a college football fan first, and I agree. I've actually been saying, and I believe this, that once gambling started to get real big and popular, it seems some games are a little strange. Goes back to what Nick Saban said , "doesn't matter if you have a 20 million dollar roster if you're not paying the right guys". I don't think he was talking about recruits.

Gamecock fan here. Kirk Herbstreit couldn't even see who committed all the penalties. The sports announcers were dumbfounded as to who the refs were even talking about. This was a bogus game. Replay.

What’s the remedy against bad officiating? Whatever it is, I hope Shane Beamer pursues it aggressively. Not for SC, but for the integrity of the entire SEC. The officiating today was unacceptable and the majority agrees, LOUDLY. It was egregious and cannot happen again.

The other pick 6, Nussmeier turned himself into a defender when he started running towards the sideline where the play was happening. This means he is eligible to be blocked, which is what happened. Kennard didn’t lower his shoulder, he didn’t land on Nuss. He had a two handed block on Nuss’s chest/shoulder.

the referees took 2 pick 6s away on questionable calls. I believe the horse collar tackle shouldn’t apply to a passer in the pocket from what I read. In addition, I didn’t think the hit on the QB on the 2nd pick six was not enough to be considered illegal, wasn’t blindside wasn’t to the head, wasn’t using his helmet, just a push…not a foul. Apparently NCAA football is just as crooked as NFL. If I am wrong show me the rule….

Nuss was clearly grabbed by the horse collar on the first one and your player made a bone headed decision on the second. I’m a Georgia Bulldog, my wife is a Gamecock. We do pull for each other’s team. There is no doubt these Refs were completely overzealous. There were bad calls, and obvious no-calls, on both sides, but the Gamecocks got the worst of it…by far. Not only the # of penalties and the yardage, but the Timing of them was most egregious. Pitifully reffed game.
I missed the game, and watched the 17m espn highlights. I thought this was going to be a total homer vid, bc ESPN totally scrubbed the calls out of the highlights. They showed the catch on the sideline late by LSU, and it was a catch. But all the calls you were talking about were not included. They showed the 2pt conversion, but only once so I had no idea that the call was blown.
Edit- they only showed the LSU touchdown that was VERY questionable but again only once so I couldn't tell at all if he was in or not. No pick 6's called back, NONE of the major plays called back.

The 2 pick 6s were bad enough …..but the phantom offensive Pass interference that wiped out a first down and kept SC from flipping the field in 2nd half was as bad as it gets ….and I think it was the biggest factor in the game as it kept USC punting from their own end zone the whole second half . Brutal .

That’s just the penalty yardage they cost us. Doesn’t count the hundreds of yards that got called back in addition to that. I thought all of the SEC games that day were poorly officiated, but this one was by far the worst!
