Gravel took full advantage of Sweet leaving the Outlaws. I think Gravel has to win a few more championships before his legacy is secured as a truly great driver.
@chuckg6039 , I'd like to see him succeed for sure. Unfortunately for him, I feel like him not winning several championships in a row has a much bigger impact on the visuals of his career than it should. This is one area I think the Outlaws and other sanctioning bodies fail. Gravel is a superstar, and I feel like a genuine good person, but the Outlaws don't seem interested in trying to make him (or any other drivers) the face of the series/sport. I get that they can leave and join a rival series on any given year, but it's the drivers who drive the sport.
Great interview. I'd like to see a couple of these a year. I know it's a niche inside a niche, but I'd like to hear more about the West Coast. Thanks for this.
Awesome conversation. I gotta admit, I have become a huge Sprint car fan the past couple of years after getting a little bored with the DIRT Modified series in my neck of the woods. The Mods aren't bad, just same old, same old. Love having two national series, and the racing is just great ... I think Sprint car racing has the potential to become much more mainstream (despite its drawbacks) because it has so much energy, excitement and unpredictability. It just needs the right marketing push.
DIRTVision has the production but TLP brings a different energy to HL races that WoO doesn’t have. I’d also like to see more time interviewing crew chiefs and car owners like back in the TNN days.
A good topic for you two guys to discuss would have been growing the fan base outside of the gambling stuff, and what has to be done to keep the weekly shows afloat.
Charter this, just show up and race! How lucrative is a points championship run for the organization, teams and, drivers when there are only 10-15 on line for the whole season? Especially when it comes to travel and maintenance!
How about a comment about a car shows up at a race with a number of regular series car and the regular series people are not there and that “different” numbered car gets “credit” for being at that race?
Gambling wont grow the sport. The problem with gambling in dirt racing is the only ppl that will actually gamble on it are die hards the new fan who knows nothing about won't gamble. We can barley afford to attend the show between the ticket price(national show) let alone a local show for a family if 4 plus food and drinks.your talking $300 for a national race. Jmo 42:06
I’ve watched both series, High Limit hands down puts on a much better show, the charters will be lucrative for the teams smart enough to join the upstart.the only transparency needed is to the teams and sponsors, not any fan or reporter..IMO
The woo format is completely boring. Same 4 or so guys win from the front row in the heats and mains. No time trials draw and passing points like the usmts mods do. Makes for a way better show.
You guys need to do this 4 times a year. Pre season, mid season, end of season, off season. Great stuff!
Good grief guys, this is fantastic. Please do this a couple of times a year. Every sprint car fan should listen to this. Thanks so much!
A full HOUR of DirTrackr? Geez. Christmas has come early.

He is off to a solid start. But yes, he has a long way to go to get to Sweets level. But David has time. He is still young.

Splitting up the top drivers into two series delutes each series championship.@@scottrossingnol6034

When you get home from shopping and you find 2 of your favorite Sprint Car News guys on together for a hour. 👍👍

That also why the NCRA stopped getting dates at Husets... the locals could cover and fans stopped paying the extra fees at the gate...

Merry Christmas / Have happy hollidays
Did he really say Gravel was the top sprint car racer in the country ?
You could probably get a decent track built within a football stadium

Ya it be great if it would load here in the woods in Florida 😂
