We love making spiders for Halloween, but they’re always so hard to see in the dark… until now! The game Dungeon Hunter 6 is coming out soon, and features an awesome looking glowing scythe spider, so we decided we’re going to try to bring it to life. For the base of this DIY Halloween decoration, we’re going to use the Jumping Spider animatronic from Spirit Halloween and give it a makeover. Using some techniques that we learned from the world of DIY cosplay, we’ll build his shell and spikes out of EVA foam. Clear Easter eggs were used to create glowing orbs on his back, and clear UV resin made his eyes. We sculpted his details with foam clay and finally painted him with neon fluorescent paint that glows super bright using a UV black light.
We’re in love with how this Halloween animatronic makeover turned out! We took a Spirit Halloween animatronic from a floppy fuzzy spider to a pointy glowing green nightmare. We can’t wait to add him to our Halloween 2023 yard display and scare some unsuspecting trick-or-treaters with it.

i remembered that one time when I was 4 /5 years old and went to a decorated house with a ghost girl and some pumpkins everywhere and the jumping spider was hiding in the darkness and scared me as a kid😂

I genuinely love so many of the crafts that you guys do, but, as a perpetual apartment dweller, there are so many that I simply can't replicate. It'd be super cool if you guys could do a video on easy, safe ways to makeover props- things that don't involve heat guns, spray paint, wood stain, contact cement, or anything else that needs special ventilation.The kind of stuff that people trapped in small apartments or who are trying to let their kids participate could do. I still love seeing how amazing the stuff can be if you have the space, though!!
First up check if their are any makerspaces around your area. They are basically a public workshop for crafters. If you can't find one (or dont want to) you can probably pretty safely utilize contact cement if you open a window and have a fan blowing near your workspace.
Good feedback! Have you seen our miniature Haunted House video? It’s all from cardboard. 😄 And the dollhouse makeovers are usually inside friendly.

It helps with alignment if you make registration marks in the pattern when flattening out the 3d shape.

You guys are SAVING my Halloween decorations this year.
That came out great, I love it! The fluorescent paint will work a lot better if you put down a bright white base coat first in the areas that you want to be the brightest.
Great job with the 3D build from one picture! I noticed the jump scare slowed a bit due to the heavier weight. Still, it's awesome, lights up and it moves! Well done you two! The black-light paint was just perfect.

I have had good results making spider eyes and and such by cutting them from plastic bottles and spray painting the inside surface. It's a good reuse of waste, and I bet the same technique could be used for making bubbling liquid surfaces.

I worked at Spirit, and part of the fun was watching the teenagers, who would always be saying how the animatronics weren’t that scary, freak out when the spider would jump at them!!! 😈

Another Spirit Halloween animatronic improved! I'm back at Spirit again this year and wondering what you guys think of the new batch of animatronics. There are a couple that I like but nothing really jumps out this year. (Pun definitely intended.) Haven't seen the Spirit version of your scarecrow yet. Great as always! I have found that those neon paints are usually very thin and not opaque, so a little coat of white first really helps those colors POP. Awesome build ! Its always a treat seeing how you 2 are always improving.
Take another spider and turn it into M.G. EXELSUS from Metal Gear Rising Revengeance
Make sure to make sure it's blades light up and plasma cannons "fire" (laser pointers and bright focused light) when it jumps

Once i was trick or treating with my younger brother and his friend. We were in his friend's neighborhood so we hadn't trick or treated there before. One door we went up to had a spider by it, naturally we assumed it was typical Halloween decor, but as my brother was grabbing candy, this giant ass spider JUMPED up onto his back. He wasn't even aware of it, but I screamed.
The best scares are always when you assume something is typical and are proven wrong.

It looks really cool! (I'll admit, when it gets triggered it's a *little* wobbly, so you might need to secure the base a bit better wherever you set it up. That's probably because the new spider's a *little* heavier than the old, and DEFINITELY the weight's distributed a little differently.)

At work today (which happens to be in a haunted house) with my sister (owner) we were talking with our dad about what to do with our Spirit Halloween jumping spider. Its electronics died last season.
