This is such an important conversation, and what upsets me is that RUclips incorrectly flagged it as "conversion therapy" in order to push it down the algorithm and demonetize. I'm doing what I can to support by sharing this video.
I didn't hear Paul mention this, but another issue with some studies are with the questionnaires. So for example in a 2014 Dutch study I believe, they would ask patients before transitioning if they were hurt when other people treated them as the sex they didn't identify with before treatment, but then would ask if they were hurt being treated by other people as the *same* sex after the transition. This is obviously problematic. Moreover, they would ask false equivalent questions like if biological girls hate being girls because of mensuration vs. if they hate erections as a transitioned man.
I read a research study in the 1980's that reported that patients' mental health did not improve as a result of medical transitioning. So, they concluded that government or insurance holders' money should not be used for transitioning since that treatment is not cost-effective.
There is a tremendous effort to deny gender affirming care to others. I especially note the appeals to "truth". If insurers didn't cover it I would still be in a position to have transitioned all those years ago, but people with less privileges would not. I have to wonder why people who are not trans care so very much about the few trans people out there? I assume it's because the concept titillates the heterosexual in ways they find objectionable.
As a trans person I can say that being able to get top surgery in my early teens would have been a bad decision. “Top surgery” is a major surgery and requires deep consideration before having it done. The recovery time is long, there may be complications, the patient must make great care with any drains to prevent infection- all of this is not something a young teen should undertake.
is there a study on women and their desire to have not only breast... or how their breast they look? so a de-trans trans-male ... who removed their breast ... is a loss of "breast" or the social acceptance and desire for partner that "wants" breast...
Going into this open minded. I transitioned 25 years ago and have never entertained the idea of detransitioning but i have seen it happen. For note, I am VERY much a theist, raised Catholic from the word "go" snd have never found conflict between my Faith and my life.
im 56 min in... ive read sever of Prestons books... listened to countless hours of him on youtube... at this point.... im wondering... if the "science... were to support the greatest positive outcome to transsexual people... with intensive inclusion of medical support... would this in any way change his biblical - Spiritual- Christian acceptance of transsexual people? AKA - IF ALL STUDIES SUPPORT SUPPORT A TRANSITIONAL ACCEPTANCE OF TRANSSEXUAL PEOPLE.... would he?
OH MY!!! it was such AMAZING TIMING ... of more or less de-crediting studies in the video ... for Preston to break out with a commercial for a vitamin and claim some survey!!! lol oh my goodness do you not see the irony? ... wow talk about tone def!!! Preston dont playform a guy who is the best research guy ever... who is disillusioned by studies... to then promote a product stating .... study shows!!!! omg this is a hit on your credibility not the product!! ps... sad part of me posting this as i am a follower of yours.... you wont even read... again the irony... but... those thousands of views... how many will read my comment??
It is really odd that y'all criticize convenience sampling-which certainly does have limitations-while still holding up rhe Littman study as worth anythign. Her whole sample was parents eho are upset thay their chidren are trans; talk about a non-representative sample!
They both should be treated as biased observations. But I honestly see the same contagion so it’s hard not to agree with littman I also agree, groups of queer people probably hate being disagreed with, if I surveyed 100000 annoyed Karen’s they could also say the same thing It’s just a starting point as observation
@@ryanthomas9306 What transition satisfaction studies have the kind of sampling issues that Littman had? Eddy doesn't specify in the video, just says it's an issue sometimes, but you seem to have a specific one in mind?
@@sirnickdon he says it struggles from non randomized location bias For example if I’m studying shopping, I don’t sit out of a mall and ask “do you like shopping.” They both suffer from location bias
From a 30s transwoman...I have never met an adult detransitioner. After 20+ years of dysphoria, the only thing anyone is going to regret is 1. a poor surgical result and 2. the time in their life they lost before transitioning
I personally haven’t met someone with Tourette’s syndrome but my personal ignorance in life shouldn’t stop the group from getting recognition. Way to show you’re an ass

I gave feedback that this has nothing to do with conversion therapy, and Preston would never advocate for that.

The ancient historical account of transsexuality were of particular interest to me.

A link to the paper mentioned in the description needs to be added.

I don’t think so because his donors would never let him.

When did Preston receive his medical degree and when did he examine President Biden in order to diagnose him with dementia?
