Sprout's hypercharge is underrated; you can use it along with Transplant to create a 10-second Berry puddle dealing 2500 damage per second when someone walks in the middle. Amazing control for a brawler like Sprout.

Edgar, by its name and impression, its a rebellious child, which attracts most of the same energy. Quick moves, lack of thinking, reckless strategy, same as a hyperactive child. Gains huge amount of dopamine every time it clutches.
The worst part for this little rascal is that supercell planned to make him skilled with a kind of dodging mechanic (they never said how it worked but I suspect they would've removed his auto charge and make dodging enemy attacks charge it instead)but as you said they accepted his fate since a lot of players liked him for his accessibility and he's even in the free daily prizes for new players so making him skilled would really mess things up more than fixing them, that's why they abandoned the rework and never mentioned it ever again.

Edgar is easy to play because he requires a lot of game knowledge, and that is why most beginners missplay with him, as they don't understand that they can't jump on a full HP Shelly

Edgar is like the Megaknight from Clash Royale. An archetype which punishes the least skilled players, but suffers against people with enough game knowledge. I personally like the brawler itself, and is hated because he's annoying. We can all agree with that I guess. I'd like to watch another one about Janet. I find interesting her history in the game, especially her drastic downfall. This is a great video for it being your first one, I liked it very much! 👍

In fact, as a former Edgar semi-main, it felt very hard to get away with messing up because Edgar has such a bad reputation amongst the community. And looking back on it now, I knew I really tried my best to defy the Edgar stereotype. I actually wanted to win games and support my team with Thumbs Up pings. It's just a real shame that most players associate Edgar players as one, singular, negative group. Even from a lore standpoint, Edgar's life has been swallowed by the darkness inside of him and nobody (not even his mom) understands his feelings. At first, I was amongst those people who hated on Edgar. I am a pretty competitive player, I play ranked a lot and consistently get to at least Legendary every season, so seeing an Edgar on my team makes me frustrated and give up mentally. However I do find Edgar fun, I have him at around 800 on both my accounts and I’d say I’m pretty decent at him. I’m glad that you brought up the “don’t hate the character, hate the player” mindset because I am a Fang main. I get hated a lot for just playing Fang, and I understand the hate. I get a lot of Fang teammates too and they always frustrate me. Everyone keeps saying he’s no skill but I’m confident that Fang is on the same boat as Edgar. They’re both fun, they both take skill (positioning, matchups, etc), however just like you mentioned, they simply attract low-skill players which is what makes up majority of their no-skill connotation. And also great video. For your first video the editing is top notch and gives me internet anarchist vibes (who I also watch and enjoy a lot). Keep up the great work you are going places!
tbh edgar is a skill brawler and insanely good its just one of the many examples of how the best things can be ruined by the people that got their hands on it. imo one of the most fun brawlers and good players are really good u can look at my gameplay with edgar on my channel its not the best but better than 0-9 randoms
I was honestly surprised how you have less than 1k subs given how good the video was. As for what I believe, as an assassin main (that is, I like assassins) most notably a frequent Edgar player, it pisses me off how it's all hammering down and then no one even raises a finger to fix it. The community needs to grow up but knowing it well I have no faith it will. Whoever dies to a braindead Edgar either was going to also lose to a Mortis/Kit/Buzz/Crow, or they are simply bad. Taking it out on a brawler is childish behavior especially given Kit is twice as bad and no one bats an eye. Then Supercell is scared of the community just enough to not make noticeable changes for the better, but not enough to not gaf about Edgar. The problem (as people put it), I should know as I also play against Edgars, is the first gadget and the hypercharge. If you can't deal with an Edgar without a shield then what are you doing.
Tbh, I dont see a way outta that hole edgar’s stuck in aside of a rework. Like- i get it, it would mean changing the style and all but dang he needs it. New brawlers always get stronger and some of em actually start to crawl down the same “true assassin” path. Powercreep’s done enough punishment, imo.
Unfortunately but fortunately (depending on if you love or hate them) Edgar and his counterpart Mico are going to get treated like that since they are too toxic for the meta (although Mico has a niche as a heist brawler)
I feel like the biggest reason Edgar is mid is cause he overly relies on his super, if you can counter his super with methods like pushing him away with some brawlers and many other ways with other brawlers (ex: surge) he becomes defenseless

My edgar is at leves 7, i never upgraded it since 2020 when its first released. Today i rarerly ever play edgar and whenever i die to an edgar i just rage of its no skill but even i know that playing edgar is sometimes just fun.

Ngl, edgar is a pretty good example of powercreep: sc was scared to change him cause of his midladder status while they kept adding more assassins that do his role infinitely better. Same can be seen with his hc after they nerfed it. Ive been an edgar main since he came out through the good times and through the REALLY bad times, and i can tell ya most players dont play this man cause he's toxic, rather cause of his playstyle of being highly mobile. And tbh at the higher ranks you do need a degree of skill to make him work. Its not as high as like being a nani or mortis main, but its still there
I’ll say it once and I’ll say it again, even as a casual player, I would love to be able to have a “1v1 a bot” option in friendly battles, where we can choose 1) why brawlers we want to face 2) their kit and 3) their difficulty level (like brother we got AI now just feed the AI winning matches of top players)

What makes edgar annoing for me is that in solos, especially on lower trophies you will have a lot of edgar jumping on you not knowing how much super you have which results in both of us bying because someone else cleans up

Bro it just sucks so hard sometimes to be an Edgar main, i play with my friend a LOT and he keeps hating on me, but i guess it's mostly because of what you're "supposed" to do. But it was so funny when i at some day came to him and told him i had been talking strategies/tactics to my friend who's so bad at Edgar i can barely play with them, he was so incredibly shocked and didn't belive that I do and can have strategies 🥀
In the beginning he shouldn't of been free, it would make sense for new people to use him a lot since he was easy to use, fun and good, and I think the Edgars are toxic thing just increased the toxic Edgars because I think to them it would seem like: be toxic when you play Edgar. Or just giving the idea to do it. With Edgar being used everywhere and killing easily it would be annoying, but since they became bad because seemed very simple what to do with him it would be lessened if they're on your team then it would be the same thing since either it's a good one or a bad one, and both would be good or bad in some way, and other brawlers would be played bad too. Later on it could have died down a lot if people learned how to counter Edgar and not hate as much for it but that didn't happen, and since it didn't even after people did learn how to counter him he still got hated, and because everyone hated him other people that didn't even hate him also hated him and made a new opinion of hating him. The people who used him would also get hated for using a bad brawler that's toxic and no skilled, people said he had no skill involved to him and was braindead to play and a bad brawler but still the most annoying brawler. Other brawlers people played were also sometimes played bad and toxic and there were still good Edgar players that weren't toxic. And sometimes people being toxic to a non toxic Edgar for being toxic. And he developed a lot of counters and got countered a lot but it didn't get lessened much. It also became a joke and some people took it seriously. Edgar isn't even no skilled and can be played skillfully. At some points I've seen less bad Edgars than good Edgars and other people say in a masters, over 50k trophy time only once, twice thrice or never seen a good Edgar. When Edgar is used unskillfully people hate on it and when he's used good people hate on it. When another brawler is used unskillfully people hate on the player. When another brawler is used skillfully it's considered normal. At this point the Edgar hate doesn't make sense anymore. People say he's gay because they don't like him. People hate on people using him. What Edgars do now happens with any other brawler. And I think kit should be mentioned in the video, when he was released he wasn't free and was hated on but not nearly but almost nearly as much as Edgar, because the Edgar hate was going too in at that point. Kit was a better brawler than Edgar with the same playstyle but at the beginning he was only mildly hated, and later on was hated quite a bit, being the second most hated. But I think him being a cat had a fair amount to do with the lower hate. And mortis and dynamite started to get more hate. Mortis mostly because of dashing into walls and not being good or doing much and dynamite because they're trying to dynajump good but are bad at it or just generally bad, I think it has a fair amount to do with toodyx as I've heard. Max also had a bit of hate because of people trying to be like tensai but since the good players liked max and max was a consistently good and used brawler it didn't really develop. Edit: And when Kenji was released people just dashed into brawlers and killed them and got quite a bit of hate and people who used marksmen were especially annoyed. Moe was also hated quite a bit and I think more than Kenji since I'm pretty sure he was better than Kenji. When Kenji got nerfed most people thought he was bad and the hate died down a bit since it turned out he was actually a skillful brawler, but quite a lot of people still didn't know it. When Moe was nerfed he was still quite good so he still got a bit of hate but then he got nerfed more and became quite bad, and it died down a bit then he became basically unhated and liked afterwards. Kenji still got a bit of hate since he could still be good and then when he got his hypercharge and event people started hating him more, not as much, probably because people still liked him and good players as well and people used him when he was skillful and he was still skillful after his hypercharge but the hypercharge itself was broken and easy to use and could turn the tide of the game so he was still hated a bit, but people still found new ways to skillfully use him, also to find out how to not get countered by his counters.
Full on misunderstood, he could be good in extreme niche situations, even with the moba mode release he’s decent on it. Just kinda sucks that he’s the center of hate here.
As a former Edgar and Fang main I think the idea of a “brain dead” brawler isn’t accurate. Some brawlers may require more skill to play but every brawler has some sort of skill required. Trust me there’s quite a difference between knowing when to super in as those two and getting a team wipe and supering in and getting 0 to deathed. Also i promise i don’t only play “easy” brawlers, my other main is Piper loll, I love decimating whole teams who underestimate her

I am an aspiring writer and I love the ultimate conclusion that having brawlers like Edgar is ultimately healthy for the game. Like would braw stars be where it is today without brawlers like Edgar and dyna? They could rework Edgar but that is probably not a good idea. Maybe just rework his hyper. It’s so different from everyone else, it doesn’t actually buff his super. Maybe remove or nerf the current reload and super charge rate buffs and rework it so if he lands directly on someone he strangles them with his scarf and stuns them for a second. That will add a small skill cap and still keep the simplicity of the brawler.
I think we need a low-skill brawler or a similar character in more games - it's these kinds of gimmicks or long-running jokes that make a game truly memorable and nostalgic.

Edgars normally have kudos bias but if you have good enough stats and you get a kudos it'll mean it's a good job one, that's how you know the difference between if you do bad and if you do good and get a kudos

With the second gadget, you have to choose better your jumps as well as be able to protect yourself until you have the super. In the second case you need skill. In the first, you don't but if you can't kill an Edgar with the first build then what are you doing, you don't have the right to complain.

At first, I was amongst those people who hated on Edgar. I am a pretty competitive player, I play ranked a lot and consistently get to at least Legendary every season, so seeing an Edgar on my team makes me frustrated and give up mentally. However I do find Edgar fun, I have him at around 800 on both my accounts and I’d say I’m pretty decent at him. I’m glad that you brought up the “don’t hate the character, hate the player” mindset because I am a Fang main. I get hated a lot for just playing Fang, and I understand the hate. I get a lot of Fang teammates too and they always frustrate me. Everyone keeps saying he’s no skill but I’m confident that Fang is on the same boat as Edgar. They’re both fun, they both take skill (positioning, matchups, etc), however just like you mentioned, they simply attract low-skill players which is what makes up majority of their no-skill connotation.

tbh edgar is a skill brawler and insanely good its just one of the many examples of how the best things can be ruined by the people that got their hands on it. imo one of the most fun brawlers and good players are really good u can look at my gameplay with edgar on my channel its not the best but better than 0-9 randoms
I was honestly surprised how you have less than 1k subs given how good the video was.
As for what I believe, as an assassin main (that is, I like assassins) most notably a frequent Edgar player, it pisses me off how it's all hammering down and then no one even raises a finger to fix it. The community needs to grow up but knowing it well I have no faith it will. Whoever dies to a braindead Edgar either was going to also lose to a Mortis/Kit/Buzz/Crow, or they are simply bad. Taking it out on a brawler is childish behavior especially given Kit is twice as bad and no one bats an eye. Then Supercell is scared of the community just enough to not make noticeable changes for the better, but not enough to not gaf about Edgar. The problem (as people put it), I should know as I also play against Edgars, is the first gadget and the hypercharge. If you can't deal with an Edgar without a shield then what are you doing.
Tbh, I dont see a way outta that hole edgar’s stuck in aside of a rework. Like- i get it, it would mean changing the style and all but dang he needs it. New brawlers always get stronger and some of em actually start to crawl down the same “true assassin” path. Powercreep’s done enough punishment, imo.

Unfortunately but fortunately (depending on if you love or hate them) Edgar and his counterpart Mico are going to get treated like that since they are too toxic for the meta (although Mico has a niche as a heist brawler)
I feel like the biggest reason Edgar is mid is cause he overly relies on his super, if you can counter his super with methods like pushing him away with some brawlers and many other ways with other brawlers (ex: surge) he becomes defenseless

My edgar is at leves 7, i never upgraded it since 2020 when its first released. Today i rarerly ever play edgar and whenever i die to an edgar i just rage of its no skill but even i know that playing edgar is sometimes just fun.
And then they give EVERYONE new a FREE maxed out Edgar. Great job, Supercell.

Ngl, edgar is a pretty good example of powercreep: sc was scared to change him cause of his midladder status while they kept adding more assassins that do his role infinitely better. Same can be seen with his hc after they nerfed it.
Ive been an edgar main since he came out through the good times and through the REALLY bad times, and i can tell ya most players dont play this man cause he's toxic, rather cause of his playstyle of being highly mobile. And tbh at the higher ranks you do need a degree of skill to make him work. Its not as high as like being a nani or mortis main, but its still there
I’ll say it once and I’ll say it again, even as a casual player, I would love to be able to have a “1v1 a bot” option in friendly battles, where we can choose 1) why brawlers we want to face 2) their kit and 3) their difficulty level (like brother we got AI now just feed the AI winning matches of top players)

What makes edgar annoing for me is that in solos, especially on lower trophies you will have a lot of edgar jumping on you not knowing how much super you have which results in both of us bying because someone else cleans up

Misunderstood. Any cc or birth damage is very deadly for Edgar, most of the people who don't know how to counter him are the braindead players.
In the beginning he shouldn't of been free, it would make sense for new people to use him a lot since he was easy to use, fun and good, and I think the Edgars are toxic thing just increased the toxic Edgars because I think to them it would seem like: be toxic when you play Edgar. Or just giving the idea to do it. With Edgar being used everywhere and killing easily it would be annoying, but since they became bad because seemed very simple what to do with him it would be lessened if they're on your team then it would be the same thing since either it's a good one or a bad one, and both would be good or bad in some way, and other brawlers would be played bad too. Later on it could have died down a lot if people learned how to counter Edgar and not hate as much for it but that didn't happen, and since it didn't even after people did learn how to counter him he still got hated, and because everyone hated him other people that didn't even hate him also hated him and made a new opinion of hating him. The people who used him would also get hated for using a bad brawler that's toxic and no skilled, people said he had no skill involved to him and was braindead to play and a bad brawler but still the most annoying brawler. Other brawlers people played were also sometimes played bad and toxic and there were still good Edgar players that weren't toxic. And sometimes people being toxic to a non toxic Edgar for being toxic. And he developed a lot of counters and got countered a lot but it didn't get lessened much. It also became a joke and some people took it seriously. Edgar isn't even no skilled and can be played skillfully. At some points I've seen less bad Edgars than good Edgars and other people say in a masters, over 50k trophy time only once, twice thrice or never seen a good Edgar. When Edgar is used unskillfully people hate on it and when he's used good people hate on it. When another brawler is used unskillfully people hate on the player. When another brawler is used skillfully it's considered normal. At this point the Edgar hate doesn't make sense anymore. People say he's gay because they don't like him. People hate on people using him. What Edgars do now happens with any other brawler.
And I think kit should be mentioned in the video, when he was released he wasn't free and was hated on but not nearly but almost nearly as much as Edgar, because the Edgar hate was going too in at that point. Kit was a better brawler than Edgar with the same playstyle but at the beginning he was only mildly hated, and later on was hated quite a bit, being the second most hated. But I think him being a cat had a fair amount to do with the lower hate. And mortis and dynamite started to get more hate. Mortis mostly because of dashing into walls and not being good or doing much and dynamite because they're trying to dynajump good but are bad at it or just generally bad, I think it has a fair amount to do with toodyx as I've heard. Max also had a bit of hate because of people trying to be like tensai but since the good players liked max and max was a consistently good and used brawler it didn't really develop.

And when Kenji was released people just dashed into brawlers and killed them and got quite a bit of hate and people who used marksmen were especially annoyed. Moe was also hated quite a bit and I think more than Kenji since I'm pretty sure he was better than Kenji. When Kenji got nerfed most people thought he was bad and the hate died down a bit since it turned out he was actually a skillful brawler, but quite a lot of people still didn't know it. When Moe was nerfed he was still quite good so he still got a bit of hate but then he got nerfed more and became quite bad, and it died down a bit then he became basically unhated and liked afterwards. Kenji still got a bit of hate since he could still be good and then when he got his hypercharge and event people started hating him more, not as much, probably because people still liked him and good players as well and people used him when he was skillful and he was still skillful after his hypercharge but the hypercharge itself was broken and easy to use and could turn the tide of the game so he was still hated a bit, but people still found new ways to skillfully use him, also to find out how to not get countered by his counters.
Full on misunderstood, he could be good in extreme niche situations, even with the moba mode release he’s decent on it. Just kinda sucks that he’s the center of hate here.

As a former Edgar and Fang main I think the idea of a “brain dead” brawler isn’t accurate. Some brawlers may require more skill to play but every brawler has some sort of skill required. Trust me there’s quite a difference between knowing when to super in as those two and getting a team wipe and supering in and getting 0 to deathed. Also i promise i don’t only play “easy” brawlers, my other main is Piper loll, I love decimating whole teams who underestimate her

I am an aspiring writer and I love the ultimate conclusion that having brawlers like Edgar is ultimately healthy for the game. Like would braw stars be where it is today without brawlers like Edgar and dyna? They could rework Edgar but that is probably not a good idea. Maybe just rework his hyper. It’s so different from everyone else, it doesn’t actually buff his super. Maybe remove or nerf the current reload and super charge rate buffs and rework it so if he lands directly on someone he strangles them with his scarf and stuns them for a second. That will add a small skill cap and still keep the simplicity of the brawler.
Best counters for edgar are bull, 8-bit and mico

Edgars normally have kudos bias but if you have good enough stats and you get a kudos it'll mean it's a good job one, that's how you know the difference between if you do bad and if you do good and get a kudos

With the second gadget, you have to choose better your jumps as well as be able to protect yourself until you have the super. In the second case you need skill. In the first, you don't but if you can't kill an Edgar with the first build then what are you doing, you don't have the right to complain.
