To think that hammer smashed face by Cannibal Corpse got so much shit that it was banned in Germany for years, yet torture tactics is lyrically way more brutal than that song will ever be.
Vio-Lence had even more shit for this: Atlantic records refused to release "Oppressing the masses" with this song, this mean they had to destroy a good amount of copies of the record they had already completed. The album were scheduled for early 1990 release, but in the end it had to wait till late autumn. This basically killed the momentum and the album was way less successful than expected (Slayer, Megadeth, Testament, Suicidal Tendencies, Annihilator, Kreator, Sodom all released their albums just before Vio-Lence). "Torture tactics" was later released on the same title EP, that's a pity because this song crushes way more than the rest of the stuff on "Oppressing the masses". Oh, and by the way this song was previously refused by their previous label which refused to include it on "Eternal nightmare".

"Oppressing The Masses" is still a pedal-to-the-METAL masterpiece. Too bad this nor the next album got a chance... I love so-called "grunge" and I'm STILL saying this!
This song was meant to be on Opressing The Masses, for a time being it was, the first 20,000 copies to be precise. Atlantic/Megaforce however were not for having it and were disgusted with the song that the album was subsequently repressed minus Torture Tactics. I think disgusted was a mild term for it. 😂
