    I hear a lot of people promoting this as an option for truckers. I wish we were consulted first on this. On warm days this might help, but when the weather is really hot, nothing short of diesel powered AC blasting in both the front and sleeper sections will keep us cool. The sun beating down on the truck turns it into an oven. There’s also the issue of venting and intake ductwork. A window adapter would go a long way to solve this. Still I see potential for this to help in certain conditions.

    I drive long haul and my truck has an APU that does Heat and AC, runs off Diesel. If it's over 95F and the sun is beating down it can't cope but if I run the truck and crank the AC to get the temp way down, like 65F then run the APU it keeps it cool for much longer. I do lots of California and Arizona so it gets hot. I bet if you had run that thing and let it's AC cool the truck down then switched to the Ecoflow it would do much better and run longer. Love the Pete, they don't make em like that anymore.

    • @AaronTyson
      @AaronTyson 2 года назад +1

      @@TechMadeEzy if you don’t know what an APU is. It’s an Auxiliary Power Unit. It runs on diesel consumed from the main tanks.
      They generally burn between 0.1 and 0.5 gallons of fuel per hour depending on their design, the ambient temperature, the sleeper's insulation, and the resulting HVAC load, along with the AC power being generated.
      However not all semi trucks are equipped with an APU. Most company owned trucks don’t use them due to cost, installation cost and on going maintenance of the APU. It makes sense for owner operators and very small fleet owners.

At the very least that unit should've been between the seats and had the curtains closed to cool only the back. The comments about the intake sucking in hot outside air are correct too. It should be using the cooler inside air. I really do appreciate the video made for specifically for us though!

      @@TechMadeEzy sorry let me rephrase it a bit better. So if you were to release the wave ac unit from add on battery and take the AC unit off leaving the external battery free, can you lift it up and see if it will fit into the side of the delta max extra battery 1 compartment inlet plug? Essentially bypassing the unit locked on the wave battery and charging it via AC. Because as it stands right now the only way of charging the add on wave battery is having it hooked up to the wave and charging via AC. Makes no sense to me on limiting the number of ways to charge it

      It will kill your batteries really quickly! And honestly idk how much help this will be, as a truck driver my self I don't think this is powerful enough to cool your truck down when it's 100f out and the sun is hitting your truck and just heating it up. I tried a 14,000 btu portable room a/c unit from Costco and it was having a hard time keeping the cab at a comfortable temperature, when the sun was out it will literally trun the truck into an oven. But the same 14,000 btu unit would cool down a decent room in the house since the house has instalation and it keeps the air in. Once the sun sets down the air will start slowly cooling in the truck. But still didn't do the best job cooling. I did order one of those units just to try out in the truck, hopefully it will cool down the truck (highly doubt it) or at least the cold air blowing into the bed will be enough to sleep comfortably.

      4000BTU is not nearly enough to cool down a metal/fiberglass box with the sun hitting it and 95+ degrees outside. Plus it will drain your truck batteries in no time if u run it off an inverter.

      A problem I see with this is Ecoflow making the 12 volt system proprietary, that is, only works with other Ecoflow products. Because the Wave’s energy use is much more efficient using 12 volt rather than plugging in an AC outlet, it becomes less useful on a truck where space is limited.

      3000 watt inverter will have no issue running the a/c since the a/c is not drawing more then 600 watts, I ran a 14,000 btu portable room ac from Costco, only issue it will drain your truck battery's fast. If you run the ac and fridge it will most likely drain your battery's in less then 8 hrs that's if u have good quality batteries. Older/cheaper batteries will drain much quicker.

    Run it down at night and then sun charge it during the day while you're driving with the sun and the solar panel will provide shade for the top cabin of the truck.
