- Edita Gruberova's The Three Queens concert at La Scala was a remarkable feat for a 68-year-old singer. Especially when she encored the whole 5-minute cabaletta finale.
You'll either love or hate this. The two-thousand in the audience were bewitched by her commitment, passion and artistry. Thunderous applause from audience, orchestra and chorus.

I went to see her and I was ready to boo her. How could this singer be popular, I wondered for many years. Then she comes on stage... the intensity of the phrasing, the magic of the sound in the upper register, the involvement... she took my breath away and I joined the cheering crowd. Chapeau, Madame.

Being pro or against doesn't make sense here. This fantastic lady has kept throughout the years the same vocal colour, legato and gorgeous line intact! The scooping up and nasal sounds, but also the slight intonation and pitch issues in the higher register have little to no importance after such an exemplary career. Listen to the other so-called "dive" who sing ALL the same (i.e. 'covered' instead of 'round') and lose their vocal splendor after 10 years ... Despite some weird choices (Norma), she remains one of the most outstanding soprano of last century.

Straordinariamente emozionante. Chiunque affermi il contrario o non ha contezza della sua età oppure ha scarse cognizioni di canto lirico. Una terza possibilità contempla entrambe le altre due possibilità messe insieme.

At this point, It's not really a good service to the great Gruberova to upload these videos. They will stay forever and when the present fanship is gone and the less biased one follows, it will make a sad legacy. Already makes, as seen from likes/dislikes.
Even more interesting - in her recent full concert (GALA 2015 from Vienna), all negative comments are selectively deleted to make a false impression everybody likes it. Does this legend deserve such a sad protection?
I've seen you post this a gizillion of a billion trillion 3 thousand and 133577269 times ? Lol I saw her in Lucrezia Borgia about a week ago. And omg I did not think it would be that good. Digital recordings distort her way to unique voice and makes it weird and strainy. When I actually WITNESSED AN ACTUAL PERFORMANCE OF HER I WAS BLOWN LITERALLY BY A WIND THAT KNOCKED OUT ALL MY CHILLS!!!~. Her singing like THAT? at her age? I couldn't believe my ears! I thought It was all a dream OMG I HAVE NEVER LIKED HER (or should I say LOVED her so much). Before the performance I thought she would be very pitching her trills won't be there anymore. But Grubby proved me wrong TOTALLY WRONG THAT I FELT I owe like everything to her! What a sad world

Mar R oh yeah, to add to my arguement: after Lucrezia Borgia I got her autograph, even though I didn't really plan to, but I had to cuz she so good. A very very nice person! I also got a picture with her! ;)))

Y, con 68 años.... vuelve loco a toda La Scala!!
That this deplorable incompetence is applauded at La Scala, no less, says nothing whatsoever about the (non-existent) quality of EG's singing. What a pitiful spectacle! What an embarrassment!
doGreatartistsgrowontrees? But again: Why do you post concerts with Cheryl Studer, which show her in a condition much worser than Gruberova at nearly 69? I think a concert at La Scala at age 69 in the Callas Repertoire with such a success (whether YOU like it or not) is really a triumph......Envy is the truest form of acknowledgement.

Very funny! What a tacky, inane person, born with a vocal sewing machine in her throat and the dramatic instincts of Theda Bara on steroids. Sorry, that's way unfair to Bara. I laughed out loud many times watching and listening to this. Some of those out of tune high notes hurt/ I know -.wow-she's-68 - but still, nobody is making her do this in public. And, what a 'dress.'
