    Hey Drew, Anthony from UK here. Documentary WILL definitely be coming out next year. Will be interviewing researchers like Tony W, Shannon M from mopacaudio, Eduardo C and yourself hopefully. Will also be conducting interviews hopefully with members in the Facebook page too. Big part of the documentary will include a filmed trip to yuba city and areas of the plumas national forest too. Aiming to visit CA next June 2024.

      Stay away from Olivehurst and Marysville whatever you do. Certain neighborhoods in Yuba City are pretty bad too. The Sierra Nevada mountains are gorgeous though. I live in the general area where the boys disappeared, it would be amazing if new evidence emerges. Its such a strange case. Good luck with your documentary. 😊

    I am fascinated with the Yuba 5. I got your book too. One thing I can never understand is why a man would drive VW Bug up a mountain at night to check the snow conditions. Unless he was cheating on his wife and got carried away that night. Checking the “snow line” was just his excuse to leave the house 🤷🏻‍♂️

      Living in the northeast my whole life and spent many years delivering for FedEx out in rural mountainous areas this story just always fascinated me. You know your vehicle and you can see the road conditions and use your common sense. Many times clear roads turn into snow pack and you have to hope to keep going to find a turnaround where you won’t get stuck. That’s my opinion on what happened to the boys but idk why they went up there

      @@drewbeeson7117that’s my reaction to reading that comment too. I cannot see any woman meeting Joe Schons of all people on some spooky mountain road in the worst part of winter, unless she was going to buy weed!😂

    The window was rolled down because one of the killers tapped on the window. Jack rolled down the window to hear him. They were all ordered out of the car at gun point. No time to close the window.

    I think the target was Gary, and the only way to get to him was when he was with the boys.
    And that the town bully, Shones, and possibly the coach were involved. Shones
    I think the plan was in the works for a few days. They were going to do away with Gary. They didn’t want the boys to play either for whatever reason.
    Shones was used because the boys didn’t know him. He was the one that took them to the cabin. Gary was taken away earlier. They didn’t actually want to kill the boys. They just wanted to keep them away for a while. The plan went awry because Shones knew he could be identified and didn’t want to help them or get ransom money anymore since his car was known to be up there.
    Madruga and Sterling go walking to find the car, and succumb to the elements. Ted was being taken of by Jack but eventually he decided he had to find help, died trying.
    Gary will never be found because he was never up there, or taken away from there early on. He is buried on someone’s property.

  • @rockstarofredondo
    @rockstarofredondo 3 месяца назад +1

    My theory is that Gary convinced Madruga to take him to meet Schons for a weed buy out on Oro-Quincy and they were ambushed somewhere along the way, possibly up where the cars were left. It was a trap all along for whatever purpose, most likely to do something to get Gary back for something he did in the past or just rob him, and Schons and some other ne’er-do-wells were involved. Schons ended up stuck up there and the others took off after they did whatever they wanted to do to Gary. I think the rest of the boys were driven up to the trailers and deliberately left there. I don’t believe they walked. Maybe Madruga and Sterling ran off and were beaten to death for escaping since they were separated from the trailers and other guys, but the guys who made it to the trailer were driven there in my opinion.

    Why did the wife go to the car? Obviously it wasn't to get the car. Was it to change the crime scene? Maybe to pick up a few shell casings?

    Thanks Drew! The cigarettes at Lake Berryessa came from the female bathers who mentioned the man watching them was chain smoking. From my understanding none were collected.

      The true Z chain smoked. In fact that is why he got terminally ill and died. If you talked to him, you would know he was addicted to cigarettes, it is a real raspy hoarse voice. You will hear it in the Belli tape in just two places there is a match.

    Snowcats and other snow removal equipment are left in the mountains all winter. It’s too much to bring it up and back down again over and over all winter. Snow removal equipment is staged along the road in fall and left there until spring. The snowcat was probably still up on the mountain at the moment the boys were being taken.

    I have wondered, and opined in tonight's chat that maybe someone(s) directed the men up the mountain for a sick joke. This i rank speculation on my part, but what if that was so? What could have been the goal? Since the 5 men were intent upon playing in their basketball game the next day, surely they would have thought their trip up the mountain would be quick and they would soon be back on their way home.
    In my geographic area I could think of ideas for a 'wild goose chase', to use an old term. But this was northern California, so what are some good reasons to go up a mountain road and get out to hike in the snow? What sort of scenario might have been the basis for an hilarious trick perpetrated by a bully?
    Back at that time, mentally challenged people were called "retards". As in, 'I can't believe those retards fell for that!' We know from news coverage at the time that the men were called "boys" and were viewed as childlike. That was also part of the culture in those days. "Retarded" people were like children. (My apologies to any family members. I personally avoid even describing the men as "boys" since the connotation of the time was that such people were less than 'normal' people. Sometimes, it was more or less socially acceptable in some bad societies, to make "retards" the butts of jokes.)
    All this said, I wonder about rumors and tall tales that may have been told in the area after the disappearance? There just might be memories of a bully describing 'having fun' by sending the men up the mountain for a nonsensical reason. If the scenario was a monstrous cruel joke, there may also be memories of a bully or similar, rationalizing the grim results. "I didn't think they were that stupid," would likely be part of such comments.
    My sincerest and deepest sympathy to all the family members. I remember when some of them participated in a live chat. I mean no disrespect in making these suggestions. That is the way too many people behaved all those years ago.

    My theory is that Z wore the
    hood at Berryessa because he went there REGULARLY and knew there
    Was a good chance of him being recognised; afterall if your intention is to kill Cecelia and Brian, why wear a mask? The dead don’t talk.

    Maybe the boys stopped to help joe and the car also got stuck so they walked off to get help and went the wrong direction maybe with joe giving them wrong directions cause he was drunk and had a heart attack that might also explain why he didint go to hospital until after he slept off his drunk.

    • @drewbeeson7117
      @drewbeeson7117  11 месяцев назад +3

    • @annalisette5897
      @annalisette5897 11 месяцев назад +1

      That's a good suggestion! I too believe the five men had a purpose for the walk into the woods. I think they would have been very cold and uncomfortable soon after leaving the car. If they did not have a good reason, a mission, for the hike into the woods, I think they would have returned to the car. Two of the men had military training, thus some knowledge of survival in difficult situations. It makes no sense, all five men going into the woods, so far that they could not, or did not know how to, return to the road and relative safety.
