Wish I could attend the event this year but I sadly am unable to but I will definitely watch this on RUclips when it comes out thanks again to the amazing people who put on this event celebrating the Rev W Awdry’s legacy of his famous railway stories alive for generations to enjoy 👍💙🚂
@@jonrichmond5747 seriously, there's only two Falcons in preservation, and only one (Sir Haydn) is an original example, whilst Corris No.10 is a new build, meaning the latter will be Masquerading as Sir Handel
@@TheSudrianTerrier653Although there are indeed only two of the Corris design in existence (one built by Hughes, one by Keef), I am delighted to inform you your post is incorrect. In fact, there are two Falcon 4-4-0t+t locos (Works Nos 265/266 built 1897) of SAR Class NG6 held in the Rampton collection at Aberystwyth. Additionally, there's a std gauge 0-4-0st by successor firm Brush preserved by the Mountsorrel mob in Leicestershire. There's also a 7'-0¼" gauge hulk surviving on the Azores (of all places!) ... and a smattering of metre gauge Spanish exports. Alhough recalling the Rampton pair, the list was a fair bit longer than I realised, so one of those times where being wrong really ought to bring a smile to one's face!
A little surprised that Tal-Y-Llyn isn't scheduled to do more this event, let alone her and Dolgoch working together, but seeing Sir Hayden and Sir Handel together will be interesting none the less.
@@Steam1937 Correct me if I'm wrong, but is this the first time a new-build Corris engine visits the Talyllyn? I know Edward Thomas did the opposite a while back.
I wonder what we’ll learn about the RWS canon this time, maybe more about the MSR and even early NWR. And who knows when or if we’ll ever hear about the original #7 before Ivo Hugh? Gotta wonder what Wilbert Awdry was planning when in the TIOS book published in 1987 before Ivo Hugh was introduced it only claimed Duke was the #8 on the Skarloey Railway yet didn’t say anything about a #7.
Always thought it was very, VERY strange how Sir Haydn and Sir Handel have never been seen together in public. It's almost as if they're the same engine.
The last extravaganza is as fun. Shamefully I lost the diorama challenge due to the bad email or never making it. But this one looks fun. Sir handel and Sir Haydn meeting for the first time since forerver. This is exciting
Pity, I’m not gonna be able to go. But I will finally be able to visit Talyllyn for the first time this month! (It’s not easy to get to wales from Australia on a whim.)
Sir Haydn with sir Handel love it well your doing it on our old Thomas weekend over here in South Australia but changed. Look forward to your videos on the event hope Max does hosting again or LMM
I'm surprised this year isn’t based off Talyllyn (& Skarloey) turning 160 this year. looking at the fact that we have 2 falcons in steam, I guessing that this year No 3 will get a new face
I wouldn't mind going to an Awdry Extravaganza at any point in the future but I'm all the way in the United States where; a) It would cost tickets to get over all the way to the United Kingdom and I'm poor b) Life happens and I'll be having to deal with summer classes for college anyways plus I don't know my school or life schedule for July anyways and c) I simply as of right now don't have the guts to tell my parents and ask them to have me go over
wow, Thomas theorist was right Now the part where sir Handle will meet Sir Hayden is a bit surprising, i guess the sir handle will be a repainted engine of the same class as sir hayden
Given his respect for the lore of the Railway Series and one of the driving forces behind the Thomas renaissance, has anyone considered inviting Andrew Brenner to the Awdry Extravaganza? I had mentioned this before, but I am not sure if anyone saw it. I would really hope he would enjoy it if he did come.
"Our biggest one yet" you say! I'm looking forward to Sir Handel, Rusty, & Bedstead's visit to the railway as well as some new untouched lore of Sodor! Thanks TR & Luke Ryan! Also, what's a Chapel train?
I would absolutely love to go! Sadly, being in America, it's tricky getting over there, especially since I'm just a teenager. I hope one of these days I'm able to go!
Oh what I would give to have these celebrations just a week later so I could attend. In Germany we have vacation just a week after this. Seems like I will have to wait until I’m out of school.
So within the RWS canon are the Awdry Extravaganzas some of the Skarloey Railway engines going to Wales while engines from the Talyllyn Railway go to Sodor in their place to do their work there?
Can you confirm AE5 for next year already? 2 Friends of mine and I are planing a 4 week long roadtrip across the UK and are already looking forward to this event.
I had loads of fun at the event last year. But I sadly won't be able to attend again this year. If this event is held again in 2025, I will see if I can go.
0:22 I this point I’m sure you already know. Just in case. My instagram is very easy to find. Especially you, Luke. I’ll be attending every single one that I possibly can. Just in time for the 80th anniversary, too.
Sadly I live in New Zealand so there’s no chance I can go but maybe I can somehow watch the live stream Question: do I have to be at the Awdry exstavaganza to watch it or will they send me an email after paying £5 with a unlisted RUclips link to the live stream or something
Hi there, The livestream for the evening entertainment is for exactly people like yourself, who can't make it to the event - if you purchase a ticket, we will email you a link closer to the time. Hope that helps!
Also same from New Zealand. Looking forward to the stream as the previous years. Just a question if that’s alright. Where can I find the footage of Wilbert as seen in this promo? I would love to see it.

If Sir Handel is meeting Sir Haydn, I’m gonna assume Sir Handel is actually Corris No.10, masquerading as the character
That makes the most sense yes.

My guess is that Corris 10 might visit, and masquerade as Sir Handel. That would be interesting to see!

I wonder if people toyed on the concept of connecting the two railways together (since they're near each other)?
