I was really happy to see more movement in Goku’s hair while fighting.

@@jasonone8726 thank god, I think they are giving a small memorial to the artstyle to Yamamuro because of his long career with DB but I hope even that goes away, because holy hell the hair back then was made with super glue, I know how hard it is to animate, and imagining to highlight every single frame with flowing hair is just nightmare
Man Daima is stacking up to be incredible in terms of animation. I'd love to see you make a video on your favorite animation cuts from each dragon ball series, not counting the movies.
Now I found out that Dragon Ball fans not only can't read, but they can't watch either.

One thing I like and am looking forward to is world-building. The plate fight scene reminds me of Jackie Chan's fighting style in his movies, where he uses everything around him while being acrobatic.

I'm SO glad about the blur and the colors, they look soooo sleek and good. I just wish the hair had less boxy highlights, but it at the very least moves!! flowy hair my beloved.

You are very thorough. Your knowledge of Toriyama's complete works is kinda crazy. For you to find either a clip or a picture of every point, reference or comparison you make is really impressive. It helps casual anime and animation enjoyers like myself understand with the correct context. Your own appreciation shows and it's contagious.
I didn't know this show was announced, my nostalgia for chibi-Goku will probably make me watch it thanks to you. Can't wait to see the other main characters interact in their child forms.
Thanks a lot man! Toriyama's my favourite artist and a big inspiration so I've obsessively dug for as much of his art as i can find online haha. And it's especially fun to share the niche stuff with other fans :)

There are several winged characters in the ToP, maybe not dragon wings but wings nonetheless.
Dabura Used Swords and spears in his fight with Gohan during the Buul arch. So we did see someone use weapons in DBZ

Only thing that pisses me off is the glossy hair highlights. So unnecessary and annoying , otherwise really excited for Daima. Super happy to see the Nyoibo in action again
I agree. I think it is unnecessary detail that adds to the work of the animation pipeline and unfortunately, doesn't look very good. Less is more sometimes, and Dragon Ball's unique style is better with less, especially in the hair. I know it is accurate to manga chapter illustrations but it wasn't established in the manga itself and it was inconsistent as a detail even on those illustrations. Plus, the anime never established that look either. It is so weird to have it, even more so when it is trying to market a style that harkens back to a bygone time and feel more classic....
@derock4art608 The funny thing is that the highlights weren't even in Toriyama's Daima Goku design.

@@Y-two-K fair but it is a bad choice. Perhaps people are less critical of it due to the designer not being Yamamuro or the fact that it is fan favourite Nakatsuru. I'm not really sure. I do think it makes them look like dolls and perhaps done on purpose so they can sell more merch.
Regardless, I don't really get it since it was never really an established trait in the main series...

Looking back at Drum’s design I will say that I miss some of toriyama’s older skin and texture work. He was so good and weaving monster designs with unique surfaces. Like frieza’s skin, piccolo’s purple biceps and plant arms, any reptiles and all of cell. I miss some of that but otherwise the designs are looking good

If the story and choragraphy is good it could potentially be up there with the greatness of Z.
I thought Gas used his weapons pretty well. But it would be weird to see the others using one. I guess except Yamcha?
Anyhow I've watching DB lately so this throwback style really taking me back. I will say flying choreography is just in general not as good compared to ground but that applies to all eras of the franchise. Not just super.

It really just depends on the staff list for that particular ep. Although going of the first trailer Chikashi Kubota seems to have already animated a fair few Z flashbacks

1:22 Even as an Indian this is a wierd, Forgotten Relics why this is here 😂? also I love Nakatsurus designs so far.. but what I don't like is the hair,it looks static and while there is a bit more movement to the hair in some shots, but I still like the flowy and more fluffy look to hair more, and paired with highlights it kinda looks like a toy and a bit Unnatural!

and yeah the highlights are unnecessary but the fact it actually moves somewhat counterweights the stiffness
This series looks really fun, but i can already see complaints from power scalers that they "nerfed" goku because he can no longer blow up 10 universes with his pinky or something.
But then they'll complain when he's too op, just ignore them.
I wish Goku didn't have the glossy hair, it just looks bad and ruins his look in animation
being pitch black like in the original to the end of Z anime or the broly movie is the way to go. In Daima his hair looks like plastic again.

You know what would be pretty sick? If Masaki Sato was on the project as a supervisor or chief supervisor. From what I can tell, though he himself doesn’t animate these days, he still works in supervisory roles. He did so on Record of Ragnarok and even the 2020 Digimon movie, which Nakatsuru was also the character designer of. I know it probably won’t happen, but one can dream.
I honestly wouldn't be surprised to see him make at least a guest appearance, he was invited on with Broly and considering this series is for the franchises 40th anniversary, it would be vey fitting. He's also good friends with Nakatsuru and Kubota as well and considering there involvement, I could definitely see Kubota inviting him on.
I honestly can't see him being a regular, but one can hope haha
@@forgottenrelics1197Eguchi being there would also be peak. From what I’ve seen he isn’t in the best of shape as of recent, but he was fx supervisor on Superhero so who knows.
@@El_Mince Totally forgot he was on Superhero and yeah I'm unsure if he's actually working at all rn due to his health problems. Sato is defs the more likely one out of the two but it would be cool to see eguchi back!
The only nit-pick anf it's so small that there needs to be a word for nit-pick, but even tinier, but I wish goku's hair was pure black, as i think I think it looks almkst as plasticy as in super
I had zero interest when the first Daima trailer came out. This does kind of look good, probably because there is actual fighting, and instead of chibi everyone, it's kid Goku (whom we're more familiar with and can accept better than kid Whis or kid Vegeta or whatever). I'm still not interested enough to watch this yet, as there are so many great anime series out there that just focusing on the ghost of a nostalgic show from my childhood doesn't seem worth it. However, this does leave a much better impression, at least.
To be honest, I also wouldn't be honest in the Super anime continuing, if it followed the manga, which I also have no interest in. I now hate new transformations and think that they have sullied all cool transformations by one-upping them just a few episodes later, either with a new transformation, or with an enemy that puts that new cool transformation to shame. Also, the power levels are way too high. Even at the beginning of Z, characters could one-shot entire planets. By the end of it, or in Super, extra power doesn't even really matter at all. That may be why they needed to bring the series "back to earth", so to speak, with power levels, where a pole or cymbals hit against someone's face actually hurt.
What I really would have wanted to see was a well-animated look into the time right before Dragon Ball Z...so like shortly before Gohan was born, when Goku wasn't super-powered, but was still a young adult (not the kid version). I think that would have made for an interesting story. But again, the animation would really have to have matched that point in late Dragon Ball and extremely early Z to catch that feeling.

the rounded style is just the designs following Toriyamas current stuff, besides less detail and rounded art is how the series originally looked
@@forgottenrelics1197 I know, but it's a different style from his 80's rounded period, it's more the One Piece rounded style and it is the same animation team. Toriyama's also moved into a strange bobblehead style, which I'll give TOEI credit for avoiding. Masaki Sato had the best "modern Dragon Ball" take I've seen, where his drawings looked like a battle Shonen with the characters maintaining detail, were angular and had more realistic proportions.
@@urbanyouths It's more so the Dragon Quest team if anything and even then, many of those names have been with DB well before DQ and One Piece. And the main staff that will shape the shows style (Chief AD's and character designers) have either never touched OP or have worked very little on the series, Kubota, Takahashi, Nakatsuru, Tsuji etc. Shintani and Ide are exceptions but even they haven't been heavily involved with it for almost a decade now.
And while I love Sato's modern work, I'm unsure how well it would translate into animation . The designs he did for Record of Ragnarok is a good example which resulted in literal power point animation.

I already know the series is not gonna have a great story but it’s good to see that the visuals are still very high-quality as well as still keeping there classic Kanada action and animation style

Tbh I think the issue is less that DBS has to rely on repeated clashes for some fights, and instead that DBS's clashes are the most unappealing looking ones out of all of 3 shows, I guess not counting GT, and ye even then the clashes look better as the show goes on sorta
