- 🌱 Sorry I couldn’t fight the brainworms. I kept on thinking of givng Azula a potential love interest and what it would be like if she loved someone and the person loved her back. I recon she’d have gone through some sort of character development before this moment tho. The s/o in question is an oc i named Runoi. He’s mixed, with his mother coming from the water tribe and his dad from the fire nation.

Why is this SO good?! The idea of Azula, who was never told that she was loved by Ozai, doesn't believe that someone could love her intrinsically, without coercion, only to be proven wrong and not knowing how to handle it is so heartbreaking. There's a crowd that say Azula should never have a redemption arc, and I totally understand where they're coming from. But the thing is that Zuko was an over-all good person who did bad things because of his circumstances, and Azula was molded into a bad person who did bad things by those same circumstances. Zuko always had the potential for good in him, he was a kind soul at his core, which is what makes his turn compelling. I think Azula finding peace and people to care about without any strings attached, to be taught how to love and be loved without expectation or conditions, to learn how to be a good person because of how she was raised, never wanting another person to feel how she felt, and not in spite of it... I think that would be a pretty damn compelling character arc.
I agree! I find Azula’s character very compelling. I never thought redeeming her would be a bad idea (‘cause she’s still a child. She deserves to be given that kind of chance instead of dooming her. Especially cuz she’s a product of her very terrible environment) and tho I haven’t read the comics I liked thinking of different ideas on how that could come about.
Stop why is this so good? Who on earth gave you the right to pull on my heartstrings this early in the morning?

The difference between Azula and Zuko are surprisingly few (and i am obsessed with how they were written)
One of the main things that causes their personalities to be so different is that Zuko had people who loved him unconditionally (Iroh and Ursa) but Azula not only only had her father's conditional love, she was also a self-fulfilling prophecy- Ursa said she was a monster, Ozai wanted her to be a monster, so she became a monster.
Zuko also went out and actually met people that were affected by the war on their level. If azula ever met them, it was as their princess
