I just translated this to English (a new feature on RUclips below foreign comments), & my goodness is French a beautiful language! I'm awed, it's so poetic. The song is about insomnia and your wandering thoughts, btw 🤗.
Only Duolingo isn't enough though. I finished the tree in a year without any previous knowledge and I can fully understand this song. (You must know that this song has pretty basic words by the way.) But I also watched French shows and movies with first English, then French subtitles. Now I can watch and listen French content without any translations. As well as this might be a great encouragement for you, it might not work at all. Because I personally learned English without even noticing. I'm Turkish and I discovered I can understand and speak English perfectly when I was 9 years old :D Still, for the average person with sufficent determination, it should only take a bit longer. (I don't mean to say I'm superior but trying to share my experience. Every human being is critical in building the tomorrow and is special in my opinion.)
Ulaş Yüksel I’ve been in academic French for 10 years and yet I don’t know some of these words ahaha good for you ! Maybe because public school and I didn’t have any motivation.. lol
@@UlasYuksel I agree, I am learning french. To a lot of people it is hard because they think it isn't close to English where as I naturally pronounced things correctly to begin with (which is why it was rewarding to learn). In contrast, Russian was harder for me even though people say its easier.
@@trixy.v928 oh bien sûr Boris Vian , Victor Hugo , Balzac , Molière, Stendhal tout ça c'est de la merde , il n'y a que le verlan et les racailles qui représentent la langue française lol , un peu de culture ne te ferais pas de mal je pense.
anoushka « minuit est là, je ne dors pas » means “it’s midnight, i am not sleeping” and i think that sums up the whole song. (i’m also trying to learn french haha, although it’s through formal lessons so good luck!)
Angeline Philo goodluck with your studies. I would recommend you focus on formal studies and watching some French RUclipsrs, reading the comments on French songs and videos is very helpful as well, But be carful with modern French songs since the grammar is all messed up for the sake of it sounding nice. The most important thing is watching French youtubers since they speak the real French that’s used daily.
@@-keri-3151 Oh it's okay sweetie 💕 the vid is still amazing and I discovered the song thanks to you. I just wanted to make things clear for the people who were not sure about it ♥️
J'écoute cette musique par pure hasard et il est actuellement 2h du mat' Ça a été une superbe découverte. Pour une fois que mes insomnies me servent a quelque chose
That’s the beauty of French ! It’s so smooth and flows nicely. This song is actually easy to listen to and understand ! Daily spoken French makes it like every sentence is just three words, the words blend into each other. that’s why listening is the hardest aspect of French compared to reading, writing and speaking which are a piece of cake if your English is good imo
Anya Vasudev French is a special case where fluent speech flows so smoothly unlike English which is still smooth but not as much. if English isn’t your mother tongue then that’s totally normal. It also depends on your original language because it can severely affect your pronunciation of other languages. I grew up speaking English, French and Arabic so I have a pretty good range of sounds that I’m able to use so I can speak other languages easily as long as they’re not heavy or have specific nuanced sounds like Chinese and Vietnamese. I’m currently learning Japanese and Turkish and so far I haven’t had any problems with pronunciation
Ebby Arts that’s totally okay !! You have to keep in mind that not everyone is a natural public speaker. Introversion def has something to do with it, because if you don’t have long in depth conversations very often then your abilities will take a dip in some aspects. I for example am extremely introverted and it shows in my speech where I only say half of the word and the rest is just weird noises that resemble speech lol so don’t worry about it but if it bothers you then just read something out loud daily or try having more conversations
@@Gugugaga1673 yes same, i'm listening to a lot of french songs and their translations, and also i'm practicing with duolingo, it's becoming easier and easier to understand a sentence each day, which is how i learned english

At the tachycardia3 pace

1.Literally, this line means "my white nights aren't white", it is a pun in french, so "nuit blanche" is translated by "sleepless night" (but lit. "white night")
2. In french, "cosmique" is a literary term which means also in french "immense"
3.Excessively fast heartbeat

Paroles :
Mes nuits blanches ne sont pas blanches, à peine claires
Semées d'étoiles
Petits trous dans la toile étanche
Tristes strass sur le voile
Et moi, envoutée de ténèbres
Je passe des heures infinies
À compter les moutons funèbres
Qui tapissent mes insomnies
Ah minuit est là
Ah je ne dors pas
Et moins je dors et plus je pense
Et plus je pense et moins j'oublie
L'immense impasse, l'espace immense

Looks like those Duolingo lessons are finally paying off
Only Duolingo isn't enough though.
@@UlasYuksel What good advice! I hadn't even thought about doing that before. I'll certainly give it a try, it seems extremely beneficial!

I feel like this song should be longer, it ends too quickly
When you listen a song too much it suddenly gets shorter each time
It's short because it's delivering a message which I cannot understand because Duolingo didn't DO IT
anoushka « minuit est là, je ne dors pas » means “it’s midnight, i am not sleeping” and i think that sums up the whole song.
French sounds so slippery. The words sound like they'll slip outta your face if you don't consciously hold it shut.
Mip Ali and when i talk in english it doesn’t flow nicely and i take weird breaths
Mip Ali my first language is English and I take breaks. I think it also comes down to introversion..

Translation in English:
My sleepless nights are not white
Barely sparse with stars
Small holes in the waterproof canvas
Sad rhinestones on the veil
And me bewitched by the darkness
I spend endless hours
Counting the funeral sheep
That line my insomnia
Ah Ah
Midnight is here
Ah Ah
I do not sleep
And the less I sleep, the more I think
And the more I think and the less I forget
The immense dead end, the immense space
Who are waiting at the bottom of my bed
It's incredible all this silence
That it is cosmic, this boredom
Should I resort to science?
Anesthetize insomnia
Ah Ah
Midnight is here
Ah Ah
I do not sleep
And then after midnight I dance
At the rate of tachycardias
And everything gets carried away and everything swings
And everything spreads me out and everything flees from me
The moon is a little rancid fruit
Life is a disease
Those who dream are very lucky
And the others have insomnia
Those who dream are very lucky
And the others have insomnia
Those who dream are very lucky
As for me, I have insomnia
Ah Ah
Midnight is here
Ah Ah
I do not sleep
