I loved the “…No Social Justice Today” joke, very tasteful and fun. Keep this level of humor greatness coming Igor! It was my second favorite thing about the video besides the info.
Igor is the best and a pleasure to listen to explaining the game throughout every move and probabilities. Keep up the great videos on opening traps. Thank you Igor 👍
- Develop a clear attacking plan starting by moving forward to opponent's half of the board - Identify weak squares in opponent's position and occupy them to gain an advantage - Prioritize placing pieces on squares closer to the center for greater impact - Consider trading off defenders to secure a strong piece on a weak square - Capitalize on having a strong piece on a strong square to apply pressure and increase attack - Strategically push pawns to create openings and force trades to secure advantageous squares - Utilize the concept of weak squares to infiltrate opponent's position without sacrificing pieces - Maintain control over strong squares defended by pawns to further dominate the board - Plan and execute piece maneuvers to attack effectively on opponent's half of the board
The best thing about this tutorial is that you didn’t just gave us the position and asked us to find the best move (like solving a chess puzzle) instead you continued for few more moves which most chess channels lack. Please bring more content like this. Huge respect from India 🇮🇳

We can as well notice that the central lock set the black bishop powerless and Igor mostly manuevered and advanced his pieces on light squares deeming the bishop useless
You need to do a follow up video on the stonewall since it comes with a built-in middle game plan to put a knight on a weak central square as a part of a devastating king-side attack. I started learning this opening recently just through youtube and have been playing it with a lot success. The middle game strategy is quite easy to learn, natural moves, and the opponent has ample opportunities to make silly mistakes, and it can be played with both colors. New players should really take this middle game rule to heart and then learn that opening.
Thanks for this video. I've been working on my middle game and I find myself in those positions where I'm just not sure how to proceed. Your video made it finally click. Looking forward to putting it into practice!
That was an excellent positional game. Very nicely done, wonderfully exploiting the horrible move f6, punishing the breaking of Ben’s law: Never play f6.
As an 800 elo, every once in a while I will magically get out of the opening without dropping a piece and then run full speed into the "what do I do next" brick wall. Usually I just throw a knight into enemy territory to see what happens, but this video is finally something I can understand! Also I just had a brilliant thought - if I'm doing this find-and-occupy-weak-squares deal, my opponent is probably doing the same, I should at least see if there are any weak squares on my side of the board and consider doing something about them.
@@GMIgorSmirnov I already saw the video but didn’t understand what is the golden rule nor how to know the critical moment to sac and how to make sure our sac is correct. Could you explain it please? Btw your videos are excellent. Thx.
Why in the world did b play f6? That looks like a horrible move, anti-positional. Doesn’t g6 look better? Put the pawn on the opposite color as your bishop, keep the Knight out of f5, and above all follow Ben’s golden rule.
Hi from denmark and thanks for the lesson, at 11 min 25 sec after black rock c5, what about: 1) rxf6 check, kxf6 2) rxc5, dxc5 3) knight d5 check and u win a pawn, would u say this is a draw or winning for white?
After black 1. ... Rxc4 and 2. Nd2 , how the best white respon if black respon with 2. ... Rc5 (not 2. ... Rc6) as in this video ? May be someone in this channel have an idea ?
This concept is explained in more detail in the GM Positional Understanding course. You can find it here. online.chess-teacher.com/course/the-grandmasters-positional-understanding/
I don't get the whole "no social justice today" comment, and I was really enjoying the video before that. Please keep politics out of things. This is supposed to be about chess.
I didn’t like that either. I had to play it back because I couldn’t believe it . This reinforces certain ideas I have (not my ideas , Reuben Fine’s ideas) about the creepiness of chess .
The opposite end of the spectrum is regularly injected into media where it doesn't belong. It's understandable to not enjoy it but it's really not a huge deal by comparison

This man is just great... Explaining the most complex game in the world in the most simple way. Just great ❤❤. Thanks a GM Igor Smirov Sir
❤ Thank you!
This is phenom. I've been playing chess forever and no one explained hunting your opponents weaknesses as well as Mr. Smirnov has!! 🎉

Chess feels so beautiful and satisfying when a simple plan executed step-by-step delivers a smooth win. Well done.
Yes!
At my level, I have been looking only for weak pieces so far, not the weak squares, because there was nothing on them! ☺️. Great video again; thanks!
Weak squares allow you to make your pieces stronger by occupying them
That’s one of the easiest/most direct ways to think about it
My humble games are better than they used to be. This is a direct result of your videos. Thank you!
“ … instead of enjoying life.”
You always crack me up Igor. Thank you for the many, many years of free chess videos! 🙏😻
nice video, I really prefer this kind of content, and even your last joke
Another fantastic lesson. Thank you Sir.
Wonderful explanation about how to manage the middle game!! Thanks a lot!
Glad you enjoyed it!

Igor you are the best pal. You explain things so clearly. I loved your bishops opening video too, and that helped me gain 400 rating points 👍
Very helpful video!

That last joke was 🔥 lol, I am internalising a number of your rules, it is helpful.
This is truly amazing

Been doing this for years but often see something shiny and off it goes into heavy traffic.
@12:40 "your opponent has other weak spots that you can take advantage of with greater effect (eyes, throat, nose, solar plexus, knee, groin...)" 😆
Can you give us a video about defending? When I attack I always win but when I defend I always lose
Surprised you didn't mention you have a passed pawn on d5 if you take that square with pawn, and then discuss why it's hard to keep or advance
Thank you Igor for this wonderful lesson of chess!
Glad you liked it!
Gracias.!!!
“No social justice today” 😂One of your best quotes! Haha
Best chess Coach !!!!!!!
Amazing video!!!!! No I mean literally I am flabbergasted by the easiness
Now we only need to know the golden middlegame plan of mikhail tal to understand how to prepare sacs and combos with antecipation.
Lots and lots and lots and lots of calculations
Say no more! Here's "Mikhail Tal's Rules To Brutally ATTACK Your Opponents!" - ruclips.net/video/GUmbBl77j0E/видео.html

Superb video. Loved the ''no social justice today'' joke!
at 6:17 why did the opponent not play Rc5 to challenge your rook and your center? That would have been much better than the passive Rc6
1. Eliminate Defenders before occupying a scare
Awesome!
Why in the world did b play f6? That looks like a horrible move, anti-positional. Doesn’t g6 look better? Put the pawn on the opposite color as your bishop, keep the Knight out of f5, and above all follow Ben’s golden rule.
could you please shar those couple of moves, after which your opponent resigned ?

After the check, the King goes to g5 and he can win the pawn back
Brilliant.
more videos on weak squares
Hello gm Smirnov are you on lichess
"No social justice today." 🙄😄
Very nice sir
It makes me very, very sad how I can never seem to get my pieces to coordinate so nicely as this. 🙂
With this thinking system , can we beat Stockfish NNUE or other top engines? Probably, they don’t know this … 😂
After black 1. ... Rxc4 and 2. Nd2 , how the best white respon if black respon with 2. ... Rc5 (not 2. ... Rc6) as in this video ?
May be someone in this channel have an idea ?
Which course do you explain this in more detail?

1. e4 e5 2. Be2 Nf6 3. f4!?
11:35 "If you're a proud member of the urination..." DOH!
Not intelligent comment
❤❤❤❤
❤
Why not Rd1 pinning the pawn and making Nxe5 possible?
In that case ...Nbd7 equalizes.
Nice
At 6:18
I wonder why the black didn't retreat the Rook at c5 instead of c6
RCA always has the most bang for the buck.
You said take is a mistake right then why are you capturing opponents pieces
Because u get an advantage
hello igor nation
