    Diff bn crr and slr
Slr maintained with bank itself and not rbi
Slr - interest gained on gsec
(No interest gain to bank in crr)
Crr is in cash form only, slr is in cash/gold/gsec/ other sec

Thank you bhaiya, really enjoyed the learning..
    Difference between CRR and SLR
    CRR- RBI Act; only in cash; deposited with RBI; high effect on Money supply; no upper and lower limit;
SLR- Banking Regulation Act; kept with bank itself in highly liquid form- cash, gold, g sec, etc; relatively less impact on money supply as banks earn interest on it; maximum limit- 40%; can be used by banks for certain lending instruments of RBI like Marginal Standing Facility
FDI and FPI are under capital account of BoP

  • @PiyushYadav-ti4us

    Question/Homework for today
01:16:09 What is SLR? --> Statutory liquidity ratio is the minimum percentage of deposit that a commercial bank has to keep with them in liquid, cash, gold reserve, G-bond or other RBI approved securities.
Primary Difference between CRR and SLR: CRR is only in Cash while SLR are in cash, liquid assets(gold and securities). CRR is to be maintained with RBI and SLR is to be maintained by the commercial banks with themselves. Banks don't earn interest on CRR and pays fee is not maintained while in case of SLR, banks may earn small interest on their SLR.
Primary Similarity: If not maintained, RBI fines on both. Both are Monetary Policy of RBI.
01:40:10 FDI and FPI are part of Capital account (BOP)
Thank you so much sir. Very helpful lecture. I'd say I found the pace to be a bit slow today but I guess it is needed for better understanding of micro concepts of Economy.

CRR maintained by SCBs with RBI in cash
SLR by SCBs themself in form of cash,gold,G_sec
SCBs are able to earn money while maintaining SLR in terms of Gsec whereas CRR does not!

It is governed by Banking Regulation Act 1949. It is a blunt tool of RBI monetary policy. Currently, it is at 18%. It can range from 0-40% acc to the act.
