- Hello and welcome to Local Marks Fish
Well this was certainly a night to remember guys!! The idea was to knock off a bit early and catch up on some much needed rest but for the time being we would fish this night out in hope of catching some bait fish! The idea was to catch a couple of whiting to use as bass baits on the next suitable tide and with that in mind there was always the chance of a Dab as a bycatch on the small hooks. A two up one down rig was used for the whiting with black lug and squid tips to try and lure them in. A pully rig with a size 1/0 was used on the second rod with a bluey/squid combo. At first it looked like the bite was on. There were plenty of tippy tappys on the rods and plenty of rebaiting going on. The taps were only small so it got a bit frustrating that nothing was hooking up until one particular retrieve uncovered something remarkable! Another anglers broken and lost line had hooked itself up on the gripper lead that was being used on the two up one down rig! A walk back up to the rod stands revealed that in fact there was a lot of line out in the sea and so the process of hand balling it all in began! he hope of a fish on the end was ever present but the chances were so slim! The multiple yards of luminous green line gave way to a shock leader with a two hook flapper rig on it and would you believe? Yes! There was a fish on the end of it! Not just any fish though as you'll see here @ 01:23:14! It was the potential bycatch we were hoping for!!! The fish seemed to be strong and had a very good chance of living out the rest of his days and so it was released to fight another day! That fish was certainly the fish of the night with only one small dogfish being caught later in the session. All in all it was a quiet but fantastic evening spent in the amazing company of the LMF supporters. You guys were awesome and I can't wait to get back out again soon! Get some rest guys and I'll see you on the next adventure! Cheers all!!! Bye for now!
