My, what beautiful garnets! Those mint ones are to die for! The Tsavorite ones are pretty but the lighter mint ones are amazing! They remind me of peridot but a better green with less yellow in it. And fluorescent too!?! Whaaaaaat??? That's so awesome! And that it fluoresces that beautiful peachy/pink color, in freaking beautiful! I love garnets of all colors! The reds that we are used too, aren't as exciting as these gorgeous greens! It's beautiful and the wide range of green colors is so cool. And the orange hessonite ones are cool and different too! I love garnets!!! Thanks for the wonderful information in this episode!!
I always love seeing people from the mining industry in these videos, never knew about grossular as an indicator for tanzanite, crazy anecdote about just shoving it back into the mine lol
I find massive grossular garnet cobbles in the gravel bars of the river near my house. They often include green flecks and swirls amid the more common white or smoky colors. Haven’t seen anything gemmy in any of them though. Like most gemstone minerals, the minerals seem to be rather more common than the gemmy examples.
Just goes to show how these gems are literally just worth how much someone is willing to pay and or say how much they're worth. Lol and I fall for it every time!
❤❤❤ I am obsessed I love these! I never see these in the UK. I adore mint green and love that they are Orange under fluorescence. I love that they aren't treated. Ugh, totally in love with mint grossular garnets! 🥰😍💚
I just got back into the crystal hobby after many years and remembered your channel. I'm really glad I found it and I hope you guys are able to make content again as this was always one of the places I used to go to relax and wind down Best wishes to the jtv team! :)
Garnets can be beutiful, just like these. They can have a fantastic clarity and some interesting phenomena, including colour change and UV fluorescence.
I like the minty ones more than the deeply dark green saturated ones full of chromium. The vanadium makes some beautiful sparkly light green stones. It allows the light to get down into the facets and reflect back
I thought it was chromium which caused the fluorescence, not vanadium. I think it's awesome that vanadium can do that. It's amazing when you realize tanzanite can also fluoresce because of the vanadium content, except for you risk bleaching your gem with prolonged exposure. If my logic is correct? I would like to see a comparison video of gem fluorescence from a 'bug zapper' light vs. a medical grade 'uv treatment lamp.' Some of my natural gems respond in varying intensities, to the bug zapper bulb but, I don't know anyone with a skin condition who has the medical lamp at home for me to view the responses under that light source. 🤔
I found a palm sized rough Quartz in my backyard. The clarity is bad and it has cracks in the stone. The stone had some orange rock stuck to part of it, I began using a 1200 grit sand paper to try to remove the orange rock. Is it possible to polish a raw quartz using just sand paper? It's going slowly
Good Morning Sir! I have a pure fulgurite black glass , stones, naturally looks so shiny as if it is polished, I want to sell, please suggest me where to sell it. Thanking you
Ive seen grossular and tsavorite garnet crystals for sale so often for decent specimens in the hundred/s dollar range that I'm sort of blown away at how much he's saying these are worth! Guess I shouldn't be, gemstone dealers are great at wayyyyy overstating the value of gems, not to say that these aren't very valuable, but c'mon!
Mint grossular Garnet is just a lightly colored Tsavorite Garnet with a little more Vanadium and less Chromium. These are NOT NEW. I've had specimens in my collection for at least 10 years.
To be fair, Jaimeen didn't claim that these were new. In fact, he said that they used to get tossed aside when looking for Tanzanite. What has increased in recent years is the appreciation for this beautiful stone.
@@gems To be honest, the guest framed the 'mint green' grossular as a totally different variety when indeed what he has on offer is POORLY saturated Tsavorite. It is not a unique stone. Also, when a colored stone merchant comes to my office and they make the statement that X colored stone is thousands of times rarer than diamond they are bid good day and I invite my next diamond customer into my office. Rebecca, we need you back .
I don't know that he really misrepresented anything, it's a newly commercialized find. He's marketing it sure, but he didn't say it was a newly discovered mineral or something

She always looks like she’s paying attention to someone or something off camera and it’s very uncomfortable and awkward to watch. She keeps checking the other side of the room and averting her eyes, like she isn’t really present in the conversation taking place. She seems distracted constantly instead of focused on her guest and present in the conversation. It bothers me because it’s so awkward and rude to the guest. She also sounds a little dumb when she just responds with “yeah” “that’s really cool”. I’m not saying she is dumb, but she sounds dumb several times throughout the interview. Seriously, if she’s going to continue as a host please get her some coaching. It’s such a fascinating subject matter and this guest brings his A-game. He’s fascinating and she’s not bringing it.
Unfortunately the awkward eyelines here are a necessary evil. We only had a short window to shoot this (Jaimeen is naturally in high demand). So, we positioned a monitor next to the camera, so they could make sure they were holding the gems where you could best see them. When you see Sarah looking off, it’s not because she’s distracted, it’s because she’s taking on extra responsibilities.
I miss you guys and where is everyone else? Miss all of you and the fun yet informative content you had every week .
100% miss these amazing episodes of beauty and knowledge ❤
Thanks! We miss doing them. Hope to be back at some point.
@@gems maybe revisit some older topics too!! would love to see some gems and minerals that didn't make the cut the first time :)
Sooooo pretty! I love green & I love shinies, thank you for making my crow brain so happy today!
I absolutely love Tanzanite, but Garnet has been making a serious play for my heart, lately.

I bought a Demantoid garnet ring from JTV back in 2001, love it. Appraised 5 x what I paid for it.

In Kenya we av light colour, mint and Tsavorite though gem quality it's rare
Even if those were common I'd want one. That's a beautiful gem alright.
