Dance of Osman Taka The dance bears the name of Osman Taka, a 19th-century Muslim Cham Albanian guerilla fighter who fought against Ottoman forces. The story stands like this: Osman Taka was an Albanian that was resisting by fighting and killing a lot of Ottomans during the Ottoman occupation of Albania. One day the Ottoman army managed to capture him and before they execute him, they asked for his final wish. In surprise of everybody, he only asked for a dance. The folk tradition says that his dance was so beautiful that the Pasha, did not execute him and let him free. After some days though, he was caught again, and was killed.

Of course, south Albania was part of Epirus. Epirus isn’t just northern Greece centered around Ioannina, its traditions and music extends through south Albania (Gjirokaster province especially)

Most of them, in sound and performance, resemble the Bulgarian folk dances from Western Bulgaria; 3. I know very little about Albania and the Albanians - a mistake that must be corrected

I watched clip 1 and clip 2 of the Albanian folk dances twice and found that:
1. I like music and dancing very much;
2. Most of them, in sound and performance, resemble the Bulgarian folk dances from Western Bulgaria;
3. I know very little about Albania and the Albanians - a mistake that must be corrected
