My son loves his. The trigger is broken in (700+ rounds) to about a 4 pound pull and the slide is like butter. He just added the Holosun HE509T-RD and started driving tacks. The more he shoots the closer he get to me and my Q5 Match.
Young man, this has to be one of the best, articulate, well thought out reviews I've seen in a long time. Very well done. The Israelis make firearms for their police, military and security forces that have to be rugged, reliable and accurate. Obviously no manufacturer can make a weapon to fit the requirements of every person, but IWI gets mighty close. They have excellent craftsmanship for a production firearm, and I would not hesitate having it as my EDC. I have the Jericho 941 PSL, and it performs flawlessly. I just ordered the new optics ready Masada and look forward to carrying it. Great review, again, great job. - CJ
Thanks for another well done and informative video 1776. I loved the Masada. My belief is that you’d be hard pressed to find a pistol today in this size that offers better value/features vs price. For me, the Masada is a big yes. Cheers!
I had the opportunity to run a few mags through the masada over the weekend. I was pleasantly surprised and impressed with it. Shot real nice, good trigger and ate a bunch of steel case. Was pretty nice.
Have had good luck with mine. My go-to is still my trusty old Gen 4 G19, but the masada has been frankly more fun to shoot. Its a companion to my galil ace. Big supporter of Israel and IWI

Bought thos weapon for three reasons one I needed a full size duty pistol for home defense and range I am short and fat so this is not a carry piece for me others may vary. Two iwi makes quality weapons and dont beta test on the consumer as this pistol was made for law enforcement t and military use. Israeli weapons have to work!! Three an optics ready feature with plates included for a wide variety of optics on a 449 dollar pistol a feature you dont find on guns less than 800 dollars. Add to that a grip that is very similar to walther ppq and czp10c design elements. Add to that the modular chassis while there are mo grip modules or caliber exchanges at this time the fact that you can remove the gun internals completely in one module makes it a breeze to clean. This gun is basically a culmination of several other successful designs and features of other popular guns so late to the party means refinement.
Just ordered my Masada this week. Watching your videos on it only reinforces my purchase. Thanks for covering the multiple features and overall shootibility of the pistol.
Nice rant on pricing, seriously. Well said. And yes, if you are looking at this, why pass it up? Great gun. SO much more comfortable than a Glock or M&P. And no torture studs like the P10C grip.
Traded my p10c tac for this gun and I could not be happier! I love it right out of the box it was like it was made for me. I love my CZ 75 sp01,and my Q5match and the Masada is right there with them at a fraction of the price.Great review bro and I love Israel crafted guns.Waiting on a bull armory sas ultra light 2011 next.Had to get the Masada hand gun to go along with my black cane corso named Masada, sometimes one is not enough!GID bless be well!
This was my first semi auto, only put 150 rounds through, it so far. I’m waiting on my 507c and talon grips to arrive befor I hit the range again to sight in my holosun, and work on stance and trigger pull to start building my muscle memory. However, I will say that the first couple times at the range, it IS EVERYTHING THEYVE BEEN SAYING!!! It’s an extremely accurate flat shooter with the iron sights which are great 👍, but with my poor vision and stability issues, I felt a green dot and grips would be of value too me for home Defence, which usually happen at night. Also it will make a valued sidearm when deer season starts. The Isreali made Masada is an amazing opening bid for my venture into semi auto pistols! VERY HAPPY WITH IT!!! 😉👍🇨🇱🇮🇱💪
I was also. Urious about the street but when I went back to see one they sold out and never got restocked I do recall those prism sight which I thought were awesome
Very nice gun! I have many kinds of ammo through mine and never a failure. I, like you, tend to ride the slide release but that's really it. In a home defense situation the likelihood of me needing more than 1 magazine is slim so the slide release thing isn't a big deal IMO. I was looking at this, the CZ P10F and the Canik TP9SFX and went with the Masada, mostly because of price. All three of the guns I mentioned are good but the CZ does not come with an optics plate like the IWI and the Canik. They still have a Canik for sale at a local gun store and I can see myself getting that one too if it's still there in a few months.
I found that the Masada does shoot low, or a 12 o’clock position instead of my usual 6 o’clock. This was corrected with a Vortex Venom and is very accurate. Be sure to use blue loctite to secure those sight screws.
I thought I had put this on here; can't find it. I installed the following sight from Dawson Precision. Brought the groups right up where they belong. It's thin, but works well. Dawson Precision Sig P320 Fiber Optic Front Sights (Sight Height and Width: .195" Tall x .100 Wide Patridge Serrated)
OhioCruffler you say “thin” would you recommend a different size? Also you say brought groups up, are you cutting bullseye in half with top of front sight post are front dot covering bullseye?
I already have a couple of polymer guns. If This was around back then, I would purchase this over the Glock. With that being said, I did purchase a metal frame IWI 941F pistol and waiting for delivery of an IWI Zion 15 that I ordered.
Good review and thoughts, seems like an awesome pistol for 400 bucks. Mr. 76, may I suggest changing the target a few times during your range session, you may see your improvements easier that way.
You will warm up to Red Dots as you shoot them more. As you experienced there is an advantage to them especially for older folks who vision isn't as sharp as it use to be. Overall I think the Masada is very well thought out. IWI is known for quality firearms with the shooter in mind. I own a IWI Tavor SAR 21 which I prefer over the American revision X 95. Your shooting was spot on with the Red Dot and like anything new takes getting use to.
I am extremely interested in this pistol because I am looking at getting an optics ready pistol. When considering getting an optics cut for my Glock slide, I almost at 200+ dollars which is 1/2 of the cost of this pistol. Still undecided about going with a Canik TP9 Elite SC, CZ P10S, HK P30SK, or this pistol.
@@MP-tf7cc I went with the FN 509 MRD Compact. The trigger sucks, but I ended up installing an after market spring kit from MCarbo and it made a big difference. Also the striker pin broke because the pistol can't be dry fired. I ended up getting an Apex after market striker pin and only dry fire it with snap caps. The pistol is now very reliable and shots very well. For the price, If I had to do it again I would go with the M&P 2.0 FULL SIZE SERIES PERFORMANCE CENTER M&P 9 M2.0 PORTED 4.25 BARREL w/ the CORE slide (optics ready).
Good follow up video. I’m still liking mine a lot. That is the first thing I noticed the recoil for a duty sized gun, “feels” lightweight overall. Seemed to shoot low, out of box. And to my surprise I find the large blackstrap most comfortable to shoot. As you say, hard to beat quality & features for the price. Thanks for posting!👍🏼
Pretty much everyone says they shoot low. One article I read said it's because we use sights differently than the Israelis. No idea id it's true. Supposedly, line up the dots, not the sight edges. Bullet should hit the front dot at 25 (?) yards. We line up edges and use a bisecting hold, and shoot closer so bore offset gets us a little.
Dawson Precision Sig P320 Fiber Optic Front Sights (Sight Height and Width: .195" Tall x .100 Wide Patridge Serrated) Fixes the problem. It's skinny, but it works great.
Very Nice Gun, I can't wait to shoot mine. I got it at $399.00 including shipping. Any luck at finding any good holsters? I'm looking for a great AIWB holster for a TRL7 light.
Great review! I just had a different experience with the mag release, I think it's one of the best I've tried so far, and once pressed it just spits out the mag, impressive (just needed a magwel to speed up the reload). I would really like to know what you think of the 508T on it? did you use another adapter plate? or just the one from the RMR and changed the screws?
I owned mine Masada since 2020. I shoot with a Vortex Venom Red Dot. I changed sights to suppressor sights so co witness with the red dot. It is very accurate. I paid $459.00 before tax for mine 4 years ago.
@@Q.Lawrence OK, I shot the Masada, TP9SF, P-09, and G2C. The Masada and Canik felt right about the same. The P-09 recoiled a fair bit less than either, and the G2C more than any of the others. The Masada doesn't seem to recoil any more than the others in its class, just what one would expect.
@@OhioCruffler interesting. I have to do a direct comparison myself. I just feel that the Steyr M9, Beretta APX, HK VP9, are softer shooting. Thanks for the follow-up.
I can totally see the Masada behaving like a CZ P-10. Especially since their Jericho is based off the CZ-75. This is a good thing. I haven't seen a Masada yet but I have handled a Jericho. Solid piece of kit. No doubt that the Masada would be the same standard.
Like many others I certainly love my Masada as well. Wait to purchase a Holoson new upgrades for the 508 T . Great handgun. This will rotate into my EDC . Go to 2020 shotshow IWI Masada to view the newest versions for the Holoson Red Dot. Awesome
No pun intended but this is the best bang for the buck SF pistol on the market currently. I have the medium backstrap with a Talon grip and it feels perfect. I am also a lefty ( or a "wrongy" to right-handers ) so this Masada is a dream. Don't forget about the modular design. (hint,hint...compact/sub-compact frames on the horizon?)
The biggest "flaw" with this is its "modularity". It came out in 2017 with its selling points being, its price, its fully ambi, optics ready, and it's "modular". 5 years later, IWI nor any other company has made a single grip module option for it. Maybe "one day" it'll be "modular".
One minor insignificant correction. While they do produce some weapons for Police, Israeli Police mostly are issued Glocks after the importer successfully sued over the contract claiming Glocks are more reliable than Yericho's. For the most part the Army uses surplus M-16's from America they do also use a variety of locally produced guns.

No advantage to red dot? You may feel differently as you age and your vision gets worse
Ooh...good quality time with the Masada! So do you feel like you have to break your grip to release the magazine? Similar to a Glock, the Masada has good foundations but with a healthy aftermarket support, it can be made even better. I hope the aftermarket manufacturers support the Masada!
I think an even better bang for your buck is Canik’s TP series. Before the one series came out, you could get one for around $350, the one series can be had for $265! I couldn’t pass up $350 for a new TP9SF and I figured it wouldn’t be a total loss if I didn’t like it but this gun is great, ate everything I put through it, even various reloads. I wound up purchasing an Elite One a few months ago for $290 but I prefer the SF for my large hands.
I agree with the Canik but the optic plate has to come in effect here. Crazy what other companies are charging for just the optic option on their pistols. IWI has given you ever feature possible for the price of a plain PPQ, P320, Glock, HK, etc. Unless the Caniks have them, if they do I’m unaware.
It's not mushy, it's a little longer than expected. The gun was not designed for fast target practice. It is a law enforcement and combat gun so the longer reset is not an issue.
Red dots are combat sights not bullseye sights. while being very accurate their designed to acquire the target hostile and enable the soldier to eliminate the threat. It does take awhile to get used to a gun and sights I love red dot sights on self defence carbines ,shot guns and combat rifles.
Both are wonderful. I have enjoyed the APX over the P320 probably just personal preference. But loved shooting my APX and the Masada. Excited to see the frames they will come out with. For a modular pistol APX and Masada are both worth it.
Yes sir.. I am thinking of purchasing this( iwi masada). What i am also thinking about is the STOEGER STR 9... WHAT is your opinion on the Stoeger? Why do you only have the 10 rounds mags, I thought they come with a 17 round mags.( AT LEAST I MY STATE.. TN) i think...🙂
The Stoeger might be a good option I've read that it is somehow related to the apx Beretta however it's hard to know which will be the long-term performer but so far the Masada is flawless and yes unfortunately I live in New York with 10 rounds is what it is
Best on-line I could find was $ 449.99 , none of my locals come close to this and allowed me $ 200. for a Glock 19 trade in , not that I was really gonna do the deal I just wanted to see how bad the rip off was .
I like how you're a regular guy offering an honest opinion. Solid review. Keep up the great work! Btw, what target is that and where online do you buy it? Seems like you can see your hits quickly.
Not a red dot fan , I like night sights ... they work even when they are dead in 10 years , unlike when a red dot is dead . If I did have a red dot , I would also want sights so when the dot is not working , I still can shoot well . I also don't like the bulk it adds .
You are flat out wrong, red dots on rifles absolutely changed the game and its the exact same for pistols it makes long shot much more accurate, and faster its 50% less work than irons and your gun always has irons lmao
I really feel like they should create another trigger option, from what I hear people saying, the reset is really long and the gun is not really good to do fast shot's.
@@ballsack8937 Well, glock aint a race gun either but has a lighter trigger with shorter reset, so someone who knows a glock and can shoot it fast will shoot it faster than someone with same skill level who really knows the massada. And paraphrasing the former delta force assaulter Mat pranka (aka xray alfa). If you shoot fast and accurate you have better chances of surviving an encounter. So I want a reliable combat sidearm that allows me to shoot it really fast
@@eduardolimaargimon5499 I carry a gen 3 19 every day. The reset is better but the initial break and pull isn't anything even close to the Masada. I feel like Glock triggers throw more shots.
So if your loved one was 20 yards out you would not make a shot to save their life? You answer is null because you can't predict the future and its as far as you are good i can shoot 4-6 moa at 50 yards with a red dot but i shoot alot
@@highspeed9518 Good for you. I would just use a 12 gage mag for a 50 yard shot. Good luck with your pistol. However, shooting paper groups is not what I was talking about. Pistol is a secondary weapon, a back up, a last chance in combat situations, selfdefense, where you've run out of primary ammo or the primary has failed. In a hurry, perhaps an ambush at your car in a parking lot by some street thug, it's fine, pistol. Not the best choice past that 10 yard range, for moving targets that shoot back. That is what a carbine, or a rifle or a shotgun is for, of which each is far more effective at much greater distance than 10 yards than a pistol can be in the same situation. We don't send troops into combat with a 9mm as a primary weapon. It's not hard to see & utilize this logic to me. I'm not talking about target shooting. I, never am. I shall explain more. The closer a moving threat is in civilian public, the better chance any average person has of hitting it with a pistol, allowing the bullet(s) rapidly expand, hopefully even frag on bone, & quickly come to a stop not too far away without hitting any decent people beyond the threat, or damaging private property, either of which was likely unseen behind the threat when the shot(s) was taken. In this scenario a pistol is enough. A 9mm could be way too much in fact. That scenario is why I only carry 147 grain subsonic HP in my 3.3" barrel 9mm carry pistol when out in public for any needed self defense should it ever arise. I avoid shithole neighborhoods. My loved one's carry their own pistols. If war is officially declared in our republic I might get a longer barreled pistol with an optic as my secondary, but I'd have at least a carbine as my primary with a scope/optic on it.
Well since you're so good at predicting the future what's tonight's Mega Millions numbers because apparently you have it all figured out and I guess you carry a 12 gauge around you everywhere you go your primary weapon is whatever you have on you at the moment we're talking realistic scenarios not some fantasy you can conjure up behind your keyboard
I'm not upset at all I'm just calling out your BS apparently you walk around with a long gun and a pistol everywhere you go and you think you can predict every scenario you walk into and engagements over 10 yards you probably just throw your pistol on the ground and grab your long gun right, red dots on pistols are the future they give you more of an edge than iron sights anyway you look at it if you would just quit being trying to be a know-it-all maybe you might learn something, but I'm probably preaching to the choir because any grown man that uses hashtags is definitely a douchebag
One of the best gun reviews I've seen in general. I agree completely with you about manufactures charging $500 + for polymer handguns.
IWI made a smart move by making the Masada optic ready and having a great price point. Nice review as always! Nice shooting!

Maybe "one day" it'll be "modular".
love mine ! smooth shooter
Connot adjust the sights without using an optic.......
Bingo these old eyes need help... I am learning to love them...
Ordered one from Kentucky guns today(5/10/2020). Can't wait to pick it up from my FFL.
How much did you pay. I just bought one.
@@alexp1tx Payed $425 at kentucky guns! Love it,it's my EDC!
John Moorefield i just purchase one from them online for $455. Hopefully not a inventory error and they have it in stock. Keeping fingers crossed.
I may have to get one... I like my Swampfox too.... #unity
Do it...
Ooh...good quality time with the Masada! So do you feel like you have to break your grip to release the magazine? Similar to a Glock, the Masada has good foundations but with a healthy aftermarket support, it can be made even better. I hope the aftermarket manufacturers support the Masada!
Have had alot of issues with failure to eject issues
I like the Masada but will wait for the compact.
This gun is almost identical to the VP9 for half the price. Other than a buildable grip, this gun matches the VP9 in almost every way.
I think this one is more urgenomic than the VP9
@@1776orbust It's close. HK did the finger grooves the right way. Combines with the changeable side panels, it's pretty solid ergonomically.
Only thing I’m not huge on is the trigger reset. Not bad by any means just not use to it. Great gun for the money though
Love the gun but I’m having issues with my mag release as well.
Nice review, I have one at my ffl waiting on me, I think I'm gonna like it a lot.
Have you enjoyed it?
@@jamesphilip4562 Yes I have so far, I only have around 300 rounds through ti but so far yes, I love it
@@Reloadingfromthehotpot That's good to hear. It really is an amazing handgun.
If only IWI improved the mushy trigger reset...they'd have a winner. Some shop will come out with a spring kit to fix it,
just like the CZ P10.
It's not mushy, it's a little longer than expected. The gun was not designed for fast target practice. It is a law enforcement and combat gun so the longer reset is not an issue.
Also you have to realize none of these pistols are "target pistols" made for self defense within reasonable distances .
How does a Masada compare to a Glock 17 or 19 when it comes to trigger reach for small hands?
Based on the adjustable grip and the fact that the group is thinner I think it would work better
Red dots are combat sights not bullseye sights. while being very accurate their designed to acquire the target hostile and enable the soldier to eliminate the threat. It does take awhile to get used to a gun and sights I love red dot sights on self defence carbines ,shot guns and combat rifles.
Love my Masada. I use a laser on mine. May have to remove it so I can conceal carey with it. Gonna put a Vortex venom on mine.
I'm gonna do a vortex venom and tlr 7 or an imforce
If you had to choose between the IWI Masada or the Beretta APX, which one would you choose?
Both are wonderful. I have enjoyed the APX over the P320 probably just personal preference. But loved shooting my APX and the Masada. Excited to see the frames they will come out with. For a modular pistol APX and Masada are both worth it.
I shot mine for the first time this past Sunday it's an awesome shooter
The Stoeger might be a good option I've read that it is somehow related to the apx Beretta however it's hard to know which will be the long-term performer but so far the Masada is flawless and yes unfortunately I live in New York with 10 rounds is what it is
Understood... i will look at the apx...
@@1776orbust yall need to stop voting democrat in New York destroying your state
@ ya think
So far I have not co witness my RD . I am not sure there is a need other than a carry gun back up system .
For a budget price, what's the question?
Would you recommend this Handgun for a first gun/ first time shooter?
yes albeit it's a bit big for carry
Your local gun shop has online store pricing! You are always getting great deals!! Can you disclose who they are?
Best on-line I could find was $ 449.99 , none of my locals come close to this and allowed me $ 200. for a Glock 19 trade in , not that I was really gonna do the deal I just wanted to see how bad the rip off was .
I like how you're a regular guy offering an honest opinion. Solid review. Keep up the great work! Btw, what target is that and where online do you buy it? Seems like you can see your hits quickly.
You can get this or a number of targets like it if you search for "shoot-n-see" targets
Good review and opinion....Nice pistol...Good stuff....
Thanks Scott
Good stuff!
What plate did you use for the Kingslayer?
I want a Masada ...
I want a red rider carbine action 200 shot bb gun with a compass in the stock and this thing that tells time!
Your both hands are shaking, particularly left fingers. If with shaking hand your grouping is satisfactory, then the gun scores 10+ .
You really must not like centers of targets!....................Great shooting!
Would you take this over a Steyr M9A1?
I really feel like they should create another trigger option, from what I hear people saying, the reset is really long and the gun is not really good to do fast shot's.
It's meant for being an affordable combat style pistol. It's not a race gun andy guess is you can shoot fast once you learn the gun.
@@ballsack8937 I shot gen 5 recently and compared to the gen 3 the weight improved
Any word on other size grip frames being available?
as of now nothing
10 yards would be a logical max shooting range in self defense/war using a hand gun, particularly a 9mm.
@@highspeed9518 You get upset like a "Democrat". #LOL
I love mine it's my e d c with holosun red dot 507x
Why do you Need a REDDot for shooting?
Are your eyes going bad?
I watched other RUclips videos and they don't use Red dot. Hmmm.
