I am not a jazz drummer, but I would love to be as good as he is at the drums! His touch and dynamics are incredible.
Peter Erskine is one of top drummers in the world. He is also one of the top Drum Teachers. Neil Peart took lessons with him back in 2007. Pretty amazing right?
I've seen Gadd play that first pattern, the swung upbeat with the hihat. Very cool. And an unlikely convergence of left foot "Space Boogie" chops applying to jazz timeplaying!
I still listen to the "8:30" Lp all the time !!!!
