I got Dreadwing for Christmas in 1994 when I was 6 years old. I loved it, but one day I got frustrated trying to transform it and threw it against my bed, breaking it (and Smokescreen) into pieces. I mourned for weeks. This One of my all-time favorite toys, this review brings back so many memories.
Something similar happened to me, tried to force it too transform and I couldnt the the fucker to go so I cracked him in half, never to be played with again :(

to me, regardless of the paintjob, these two will always be Beast Wars II B.B. & Starscream
I recently won a complete set of them off eBay for the price of a freaking DELUXE Transformers! Plus taxes and shipping but in total, it was still cheaper than a Leader. I love that set, but these 14 missiles shall remain bagged forever. Those are begging to be lost.
Cancer is an awful thing. I lost my grandfather to it. And he's the reason I'm into Transformers in the first place. Glad to see these fundraisers.
Generation 2, ah, those were the days. Dreadwing & Smokescreen were a holy grail of mine for a long time. I had the G2 Optimus Prime, G2 Bumblebee, but barely any Decepticons that were larger (I had the Yellow Constructicons), like Dreadwing. Light-piping is my favorite Transformers gimmick so when I finally got them, I was in awe of their "glowing" eyes. You got it gir $40 nowadays, that's still a great deal! The best part about tge missiles is that there is a place for each one. Makes a big difference. Smokescreen is just a name they needed to use to keep the trademark up, but in terms of Stealth jets, it works too. Their was also a rare G2 set that is black, yellow, and purple, that was released at the tail end of '94-'95 that had Dreadwing as Megatron and Smokescreem as Starscream. The combination of which gives a whole new meaning to "backstabber," lol! Same colors and toy of BWII "Starscrem" & BB, other than stickers. I've got the BWII set, but never got the RID/Universe ones. I hear their missiles for him & Smokejumper are not as powerful. Awesome review. Hits me in feels as it's such a great set of figures. Keep up the great work! =P
In Japan they also known as Starscream and BB (Smokescreen & Dreadwing). Released as part of Beast Wars II toyline.
I remember having energon Starscream, and realized that Starscream and G2 Smokescreen share the same transformation method. Thx for the memories.
That's what I do.
Thanks for watching.
And to a lesser degree so do cybertron thundercracker
"NO ONE CAN SAVE YOU... FROM TRIPLE CHANGING DREADWING!"
~ Dreadwing in the commercial
Prime dreadwing and skyquake in legacy leak toy pictures : are we joke to you
IT'S DREADWING IT'S PUNISHING HIS GATLING GUN IS *'ILLIN*
This was my first G2 purchase that wasn't just a G1 reskin. I played with this set as much as my G2 Optimus and Laser Optimus (G2 Megatron was close behind). They sit proudly amongst my various other generations of Transformers, complete with missiles. Only issue I ever had is I broke one of the tabs for Dreadwing's arm guards and it nearly ten years later that I was able to snag one very used Dreadwing with no other parts on Yahoo's auction site (eBay had competition back then!) so I could replace that arm guard. Still impresses me what they could do with the G2 figures back then that we take for granted today.
I just got Dreadwing today, I'm really happy with him, though my USED version didn't come with all those missiles. He's made out of sterner stuff (plastic), plus he's older than me, as I was born 1996.
This is one of those toys I absolutely want. They have swag, tons of firepower and they look so great together.
I also love that commercial jingle, so catchy and so 90's. That was my era, baby. :D
I'm really surprised they didn't just name the individual planes "Darkwing (or Blackwing, whatever Disney, you don't own a word and you know it)" and "Dreadwind". I mean why reuse the name "Dreadwing" and have a set of two jets if you're not going to go full monty like that
Oh yeah, Smokescreen is an Autobot too!
Really want the RID 2001 repaints Smokejumper & Dreadwind.
I do too, love that Military green.
@@PatriotPrimeReviews Of course, since I already have a Dreadwind (POTP) on my Con shelf I'll have to call the RID one something else. I'm thinking Gigant Bomb a.k.a. GB. Roger. It's also why I call Dreadwing (Thrillin 30s) Ace Evader (Dutch name) instead. I also turned Dead End (ROTF) into Detour, Divebomb (07) into Scudwing & Scrapmetal (Studio Series) into Slaghurler (catapult fan mode).
Energon Starscream is a lot like Smokescreen
Yes! A bit of early Shared Engineering there for sure!
Hasbro when you gonna legacy g2 dreadwing with commander class when ???
New Dreadwing
Is punishing
His Gatling gun is illin'!
This Decepticon bomber's a
Transformer-rama,
A three-in-one villain that's chillin'!
Combat tank and sonic jet
Transform into double-trouble robots
Their missiles go boom
Spelling certain doom
As they take apart the awesome Autobots!
I'm pretty intrigued by G2 Dreadwing.
It's a shame this set (or any of it's recolors) don't seem to pop up much.
Hopefully we get new versions of these guys in Legacy.
Ages Three and Up just like the one at British Columbia Canada.
Great review. Dreadwing in robot mode reminds me of Bay movie Starscream with the fat and wide chest and little legs and arms. Smokescreen jet mode reminds me of Generations Thunderwing. What do you think?
I just got a complete set of this for my friend's birthday coming up. I'm excited to give him one of his grails!
I'm not sure if your copy is broken or something, but I've got both the RID and Robot Masters repaints of Dreadwing and the missiles click in very securely until fired.
All the remolds after this one fixed the launcher in order to lock the projectiles in. I actually did a Review of the RID one.
@@PatriotPrimeReviews Well, guess it was just poor design on Hastak's part at the time then!
Were can i get this guy for a good price but not missing any accessories?
The R.I.D. set locks the missiles in the gatling gun in place
I need to find that set, love the colors.
@@PatriotPrimeReviewsthere's a hobby shop not too far from where I stay that has one. When I come off of the rd I'll check for you.
Odd but fun duo 🤨 I don’t remember seeing them, but then again I missed most of the last G1 run 🤔
Great video Patriot 👍🏽✌🏽
Amazing review! I've coveted this figure since the 90's, and never knew about its tank mode. Fantastic gem of the G2 line.
If they make a voyager version of G2 smokescreen, i might get him.
I got the BEAST WARS version
"Run its Dreadwing!"
"And Dreadwing is TWICE AS DEADLY!"
yeah the commercial is just scary cuz they’re chasing a random kid for no reason and he dies in an explosion
LOL with the rap song😂!!!
dreadwing is punishing
his gattling gun is illin'
I got this when i was a kid SOOOO HAPPY!
I had the RiD version, and the missiles stayed in. I'm gonna be that person: Are you absolutely sure the missiles can't be snapped backwards and lock in place? Seems like a seriously boneheaded design mistake...
Absolutely. I have and Reviewed the RiD version as well, they fixed the issue with that one.
I bought Dreadwing by itself and I have slowly been buying the missing parts. I only need Smokescreens legs and it will be complete, but they are nowhere to be found 😢. It's a bit of a shame because both figures are in pretty great shape with minimal wear and tear from what I can tell.
Best of luck my friend.
Piecing back together a bot is tedious, but man when you complete it...Hooah!!!!!
I wonder if they retooled the missiles? They don't fall out of my Beast Wars, RiD, or Robot Masters versions (you forgot about RM Gigant Bomb and Smoke Sniper!)
The G2 is the one I don't have!
They were retooled on RID repaints. I have the Korean versions of BW2 BB and they are the same as G2.
Disappointed you didn’t make sounds with the Gatling gun
In one take I tried but it didn't turn out good.
Awesome review my man! I remember getting that set at KB Toys back in the day. Always loved Laser Optimus Prime.
I congratulate you for the review of these two figures of transformers g2 just a doubt for the names of a autobot and a decepticon to these two figures and in the Japanese series they are predacons as that confuses you to have the names of a autobot and decepticon and they never left in the g2 transformers series only in the japanese series are predacons
This G2 set Dreadwing and Smokescreen came out in 1994.
The Beast Wars 2 set of BB and Starscream came out in 1998
the green RID set of Dreadwing and Smokejumper came out in 2004
I like this figure there was black with neon green I believe it was a ehobby exclusive if I remember right
That was the Beast Wars II version I believe.
AMAZING REVIEW PATRIOT PRIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D I almost got the green repaints of these toys from Amazon, but dang they are expensive. :P Keep up the amazing work you do, Double Thumbs Up. ;D
Colors make it look like a Cobra jet
Oooo. That it does.
Boo I didn’t get drunk. You only did it twice. Good job. I had this set as a kid. I don’t remember if I sold it off or not. It was a lot of fun.
Like you said ABSOLUTELY soldier!!!
Yes he's awsome, my bro ninja bill has this guy & he still beats out many of the new lines , in many ways.
I remember getting that for my birthday back in the day !
I just watched your review of G2 Dreadwing And Smokescrean I was going to get me one when they were out in 1994 I saw it at K-Bee toys on the mall but when I returned to get it, it was gone and I hadn't seen it since until your review I have really been trying to find one but they are hard to find but I am reluctant to by any G2 transformers because the ones that I have break really easy especially the gold plastic ones they just crumble into dust
This figure is pretty solid and I'm surprised the gimmicks worked so flawlessly, this toy was taken care of.
I only have two other G2 toys, both versions of Megatron.
Thanks for watching.
I have the rid version. I was gonna review and them, but now I may hold off for a while
I'd love to see that one.
Then maybe this weekend
I am gonna do the rid version of these guys this weekend, can I put a link from this video in my description for my review
One really cool looking duo and an awesome review. I do remember the Beast Wars 2nd one and the fate of that pair was odd. Become some crazy cyborg looking beast wars figs.
I've never seen one episode of BW2, I need to fix that.
Great video! I love these characters. BTW, the music during your no shave fundraiser intro is very loud (at least to me) and hard to hear you talking.
Thanks for letting me know...it was an experiment
@@PatriotPrimeReviews Im good with the inclusion of the fundraising thing, so that part of the experiment was successful. 😀
I was thinking about getting this, and you convinced me. Thank you for the awesome reviews as always.
