I would avoid index funds, mutual funds, and specific stocks for the time being. Right now, the best option is a fixed income of five percent. Put money aside for the times when the market really starts to bounce back.

All of our new employees are Work release. We have at least 30 guys in the plant right now with ankle monitors. While they are on probation in our plant, 1040hrs. The government is paying my company 45% of their salary. Once probation is over. The government will continue paying 25% of their salary to my company. Some of them even get picked up in a small bus to go back to the halfway house. The laziest trash employees we have ever had.
That's is exactly right . Government jobs and health care jobs none of which benefit the GNP.
The last thing we need are more people working in the welfare office.

Probably because labor costs have sky rocketed and regulations have sky rocketed under this administration. There is also the threat of higher taxes from this administration. Oh and don't forget inflation. If it costs more to provide goods and services when your margins are already tight, you batten down the hatches and just try to survive.

Don’t worry about buying a home. Even if you do you will eventually be property taxed increased to where you can’t afford to keep your home. People that own homes are being forced out of their homes due to huge and unjustified property tax increases. You go from paying 3 or 4k a year in property tax to paying 20 to 30k in some cases then something rotten is going on.

I agree they are so Blind to hit the grocery stores for price gouging when REAL ESTATE Agents are the real source of price gouging. See, they are paid on a percentage of the sale price rather than being paid by the number of houses they sell. That would change real estate agents objective and totally transform the market overnight. So rather than trying to raise the prices of the house, they would try to moderate the prices so they can flip more units.. The market would change overnight. And it makes perfect sense anyway because there is no more work to market and process the legal documents for a 150k house vs a 1 million dollar house.
I'm sure the real estate agents are a big part of it, but they had lots of money thrown at them post 2020. Let us not forget all of the tourists that bought real estate during their escape from covid. They seemed to all have money to pay a lot more than it was priced at. It skewed the property tax base so badly that the local people who raised families and built lives are still paying the price for it. Most of the people that sold to them doubled what the asking price was and now cannot afford to buy again. I know a few people that had out of staters literally knock on doors to buy their place. Fauci's Flu keeps on taking and taking.

Over 7 million illegals have come across the border, and they need houses. This, along with foreign investment companies buying up properties to use as short-term rentals, has caused a housing shortage. If there is a shortage of something, it drives up the prices.

@@charles56737 have you seen a 1 million dollar house in Dallas? It's not that great. Just a glorified "normal house" (maybe it is in a good location but there are MANY good locations in Dallas.). And yes I know the process to make entries at the county records and/or assessor, usually near a court house. The rest of it is just meeting with all interested parties and trade money and sign docs.. Some states do that with an escrow agent so they hold the money since nobody trusts each other.

The problem with todays economy is the majority of people (lower and middle class) are struggling so it's not seen as a great economy. If you invested well and/or grew your business you are probably doing better. You can't be better off if inflation is higher than money coming in.

I was one of 800 laid off from my company back in May - the 3rd round of layoffs in a year and a half, totaling over 2,000 employees who were let go. I’ve applied for over 100 jobs since that day and cannot get so much as an f-you. No one can convince me that the economy is in good shape.
Whether you agree with Nardelli or not, it's a shame he wasn't CEO of GE rather than Immelt. Personally, I fully agree with his observations about how insidious inflation is. It is destroying wealth at a tremendous rate, wealth that we won't get back.
