Loved watching that , I used to work for a large hgv commercial dealership in the midlands called 'Cossington Commercials ' they were mainly ERF and Gardner franchise dealers, later MAN and eventually Mercedes.
Used to spend a lot of time waffling to the fitters in the engine rebuild shop , all those 6Lw's and 4lw's lined up to strip...dozens and dozens, ex London routemaster units and National Coal Board underground loco Power units... happy days can still remember the smell and sound from the engine
    Test shop , 18 year old in 1988 I loved it ♥️

I didn't know a Gardner engine from a hole in the ground a year ago, but I got a derelict engine going again recently (4LW), which will get a narrow guage engine operational again. Mostly thanks to your videos. Thanks a million for taking the time to do them.

The ram pump on that marine 3lw is quite happy operating with a heat exchanger or keel cooling. To control the eng temp the operator opens or closes the bypass valve to allow some hot water to re enter the suction side of plunger pump.
That extra front pulley is driven directly from end of camshaft not via the crank pulley.

Just send £10 to the Anson museum and they may be able to answer that question.

Thanks Joe for another great video, is the 6LX an original marine engine or a marinised engine?

Could I track my engine down as to what it is from the engine number, it has a three grooved aluminium pulley on the front end driving the deck wash and a jabsco or originally a Gilkes pump
