That was awesome, Jerry! The typical sounds you got that one expects from a digeridoo were beautiful in themselves. However, you broke into something new, that I've never heard from a didge, the kind of beat box sound. It sounded to me like Jimi Hendrix. It blew my mind. It was almost supernaturally awesome!!! Thank you so much for sharing! I loved it! - Paul Granger
I agree. I thought some background music started playing. Had no idea a didge is capable of that. I am looking to buy my first didge and can’t decide what sounded better, the air didge or plastic one. I am not concerned about durability just tone. Which did you prefer? Thanks
I own a snake didge. Bought in chile and made somewhere in south amerika. It is my first didge and i started learning with it. Sadly it has a huge disadvantage. For long time low cost travel like mine, with lots of wildcamping in any weather condition and clima changes from desert rainforest in few days the wood did not handle it very well it cracked after few months. Maybe it was my fault for trying to play a little bit louder, maybe it was bad quality, or the weather and clima condition together in a vibrating instrument. Maybe all three together. Anyways now i bought a cheap bamboo didge in bolivia to continue my practicing with this wonderfull instrument and to give my spiral time to rest before i glue the cracks back together. (I read it is very important to let it rest) Thats why personally, although i love my first didge i would recomend the other ones for long time travel under hard conditions.
Is the travel plastic didge (or any didge) any easier to play than others? My bro got me a ~$30 didge off Amazon and I’m having a hard time with it and I keep wondering if there’s something easier. My mouth is small I’m female my husband seems better at it with no practice when I’ve been practicing
Hi Alison, Good day! Yes the travel plastic didge that we sell is generally easier to play than the $50 and lower didges on amazon. It has a longer body and so the back-pressure is more regulated. It can also be played in 4 different keys, so you can experiment and see which key works best for you to start.
Sounds like maybe the person who carved it might not have made a deep enough recess for the mouthpiece. Easiest fix might be applying a wax mouthpiece, however you might also benefit from modifying the mouthpiece to better fit your face by using a rasp file and some sandpaper, testing for fit as you go. Once you get a good fit and aren't losing air pressure when you play, and it's sanded smoothly, you could apply some melted wax with a folded paper towel to reseal and protect the mouthpiece area from absorbing too much moisture and splitting. Good luck, hope it helps.
@@davidmurphy6884 okay, i see the contour of my mouthpiece is very very thin,, which type of wax must be used? I you are from europe you can post amazon link,, I couldnt find beeswax in amazon Italy.
@@anshulwadia Beeswax is traditionally used, as it adheres readily to other surfaces. There are videos on RUclips detailing how to easily make the donut shaped wax mouthpiece. Sorry, but I live in the United States and don't really use Amazon that much, but you should have little difficulty locating Beeswax. Perhaps there is even a Beekeeper in your area. 🙂 edit: I found a link on Amazon Italy...
Thanks for sharing! Some decades back I made a few Didgeridoo experiments with PVC plastic tubes. You can easily heat up the pipe and shape them to resemble a wooden Didge, put the heated end of it over a coned glass, saw it up and glue a triangle piece to the bottom for a bell etc. Try it! The standing wave quality, lip sounds and volume don't decrease as long as you make it airtight. Wish I could post a picture here, but did it on Pinterest instead: i.pinimg.com/originals/f7/ac/6b/f7ac6b9a63048d8f6b3d998f26dd8c5b.jpg On the image you can see one made out of a 2" and a 4" PVC tube, bonded together with epoxy. I wasn't very environmentally aware in the nineties...The paint is just wall paint and brushstrokes with different colors. Happy droning!
I just bought a snake didge and it's so cool looking. Thanks for sharing your tutorials. Can't wait to learn!

what is the sax & didgeridoo music in the background?
Music from the album "As One": www.didgeproject.com/as-one-didgeridoo-world-music-album/
What's the volume like on the plastic one ? I need something small and light to travel but I need to be able to busk with it
The plastic travel didge projects pretty well, likely due to the flared bell design.
does the snake didge require a mouth piece?, i have one but i seem to loose lot of air from the sides of my lips
