      @@BrianAlvarez514but Kessler is a much better defender at this point. Williams footwork and anticipation on defense needs improvement. One thing that is overlooked is his shooting touch. You can tell by his ft shooting that he can shoot. He shot his first 3 this year and missed but maybe that’s something lakers (Jj) can develop.

      Facts. Mark williams has a higher offensive ceiling than lively while lively is a little better defensively.

    One of my buddies was a HUGE Hornets fan, like a “buy league pass and watch every Hornets game” fan, and when Williams was hurt this year, he was sad and missing him, but he SWORE by Mark Williams… He’s a big asset to this Lakers team, and he’s gonna be great for them (assuming that he can stay healthy). Lakers gave up Kinecht, which is big, but they traded him for an equally big piece at Center, which is what they truly needed. Give it time, but this was the best Center available that they could get, and I think that it will pay dividends.

    • @jakemccoy2030
      @jakemccoy2030 5 дней назад +4

      I think the Hornets gave up a pivotal piece in Mark. Yes they got Dalton, but in a small market team, they gave up a Center that they’re gonna have to draft again to fill that hole. No center on Mark Williams caliber will sign with Charlotte. They’re gonna have to draft another Mark Williams… I mean that

  • @denniscasely-hayford3245
    @denniscasely-hayford3245 5 дней назад +9

    The cost of getting Mark Williams is a function of basic supply and demand. The supply market for centers is relatively low, so the cost to procure this type of center is what the Lakers paid.

    It blows my mind how many people are clutching pearls over draft picks that will be low first rounders considering what the Lakers got. Basically, Knect for Mark Williams.
    Coming back from injury, Williams minutes didn't go over 20 until end of December. Check out his January. 18.9 ppg 14.5 rpg 74% FT shooter during month. Included a 38 point game and a 31 point game. Lob Dunk monster. Glass monster. 3.5 Offensive reb per game for season in 25 minutes per game. Had back and foot injures, but NO SURGERIES.
    7'1, 7'6 wingspan. 23 years old. Restricted free agent after 2026, which gives team control of situation. I don't know who else they could've gotten on available market that could be better for this team. As much as we like DK, are we even sure he'd be in the rotation in the playoffs?

He kept doing the same year after year. The team went from bad to worse. He doesn't pay any attention to team chemistry. He has done it again this time. Despite such a strong team, I have my own reservations. Only time will tell. Giving up so many from a team that has started to play well lately is a poor strategy.

    Mark Williams (23Yrs/7’0/241) is a Brotha Version of Kessler (23Yrs/7’0/245) that is Averaging Better Numbers (16/10/1) whom, just put up 31/13 against Kessler & The Jazz 2-Weeks Ago.
    We will miss AD/Max/Knecht however, We got Luka/DFS/Williams and We were able to keep AR/Rui!!! We are Building a Team around Luka similar to The 23/24 Dallas Team that made it to The Finals with a “King 👑 James for 1-2 more Years!!!
    And, this Summer We can use Gabe/Klebber to go get another SG and/or SF for $20ish Million.

    Look at it like this. Many thought those 2 picks should have gone to Dallas for Luka. So, Rob used those 2 picks to get 2 players vs just Luka.

      Luka under lebron is the future, no doubt. He is going to develop into the dynasty player and already is being surrounded with role players like Williams. Calling lakers champ run this year. And foreseeable future dominance.

    Some people may say lakers overpaid a little bit, but they wouldn't been able to trade for mark in the first place if dallas initial asking price were met by lakers( AD+ max + dk + 2 first round picks and seconds available). Overall one of the best trade deadlines for the lakers in a while 🎉

    Dalton and Max were getting us a lot of 3 pointers. At least DFS can shoot from outside and a couple others are streaky so we aren't completely without spacing. James gonna need to turn into a consistent outside threat.

    • @methodsignature
      @methodsignature 4 дня назад

      @CharlieBonner-b9m James? He'll hit every 3 for 2 games and then miss a dozen in a row. He's also shooting about 5 per game, so he's averaging about 2 made 3's a game - decent but not a specialty and definitely not high volume.
      I think his usage from deep is going to increase, and I'm saying he needs to be more consistent. I think he can do that, but if he doesn't, it could be a big issue in the playoffs. Imagine if he has a down trend for 3 or 4 games and makes zero 3s against Denver in the post-season.

    Mark Williams has crazy upside, especially offensively. He is 75% free throw shooter as well vs 50% for Kessler. Matters in playoffs.Also, the lakers are not the favorites this year but I guarantee we are the biggest draw in sports.

      There's no guarantee DK would've even been in the regular playoff rotation. I promise this kid will be. He is much better for what this team needs right now to compete for a championship. Knect needs development. Williams does, too. But he also has a 7'6 wingspan, is 7'1 250 pounds, is a monster on glass, in particular the offensive glass. He averaged 19 ppg and 14.5 rpg in 28 minutes a game in January. DK is NOT a better player than Williams at this point in terms of how they help you win, night in, night out.
