I think the fact that you have a box of box art pokemon that come from the exact game they were the box art of is really cool.

I also really love seeing how other people structure their own collections. Also, in game trades is such a great idea for a collection.

Nice job! That’s crazy that it took you over 300 Dudunsparce to get 3-segment form, I managed to get one on my second try and a friend of mine got one on his first! Also your shiny Bulbasaur that you got in 2 eggs stood out to me since the same exact thing happened to me in gen 6 when i was completing the dex, gave myself 2 Treecko eggs and the second one was shiny haha. And great idea to try to get every ball represented, I did a lot of the cram-o-matic and got a ton of sport balls. I’d have to check the exact number but I believe I have about 20 of them (also managed to get about 5 or so safari balls).
I've actually been working on this exact same thing for the past few years, except that I've been replaying every game getting a living dex in each one as I play it, I got all kanto pokemon from original red/yellow etc and been going out of my way to replay the alt games a second time just for fun and not so much living dex and getting the other legendary with the same origin, also have been collecting every unique form, including things like N's pokemon and the shadow pokemon, but instead of gardevoir I chose to get a shiny metagross for my shadow pokemon ribbon champ, and that was a year of hell shiny hunting. I've been catching every pokemon I can in premier balls as my display pokemon (except the virtual console game pokemon) and been getting all the shiny pokemon I can too, I got myself a full team of shiny eevee/starters through the shiny breeding method in gold, and I even did the cute charm glitch in heart gold just for a fun playthrough I was soft resetting for a few special pokemon like shiny celebi in that game and for the shiny legendaries because theyre some of my favorites, but kind of stopped doing that after gen 4, because I couldnt in gen 5. I can very much respect the time and effort you put into this because I went through a lot of the same stuff myself, very cool to see someone else's collection.

Nice work sir! Some really cool ideas here. This stuff is incredibly labor intensive. I've still got a handful of unique spots to fill, but over the last 2-3 years I've been doing the Master Dex Challenge that Bird Keeper Toby popularized. I'm at about 94% of the main challenge as well as national dex completion. The challenge as a whole has some pretty insane flex spots for some really niche/obscure/rare versions of pokemon from the video game pantheon. Hopefully I'll get there someday.
Best of luck to you on your journey! I've thought about the master dex challenge now and then, but don't think I'm ready to try it just yet.

One of the things i'm doing for my living dex is catching a living dex from the gamecube games, it's a limited roster, but when you add other evolutions it's suddenly a lot more
I'm pretty sure to become a ribbon master, you need to get the paldea marks but the whole dexus is incredibly impressive. This is some of the coolest stuff I've ever seen

Have you thought about building collections such as all Hayley's Pokémon from Ranch, and the complete Colosseum/XD collections all with Earth ribbon?
Thanks! I do have all the GCN shadow pokemon caught, and have thought about maybe bringing them all up, but how much space it'd take up is a slight concern of mine. For pokemon ranch, I unfortunately don't own it so it'd be tricky without some dubious means.

It's also the only possible way to get Mew in Gen 4, so I say you can make an exception here

Made me a little sad remembering that my 1st starter blaziken and 1st shiny crobat from emerald were lost when my little brother lost my black 2 cartridge a decade ago
That’s very unfortunate. Despite just being pixels and some code, it hurts when you find that you lost some that were special to you.

Yo! My first Pokémon game was Pearl as well! And I kept restarting the game after giving up a lot too! I would progress the game as far as I knew how to until I didn't know where to go and then restarted along with a new starter.

I have my living dex completed on home. Don’t have genders and all forms of some . My real gold is my shiny living dex. I’m almost done with Gen 7 and eight. I have them all from Gen 1-6 as shiny. I had no life as a kid. I wish I could post and show
The Pikachu in every ball is a nice idea. I have the PokéArk in my Home. Two by two, male and female of every species that has them, not just the gender differences. You know, in case some evil team successfully wipes out all life and we have to repopulate 😅
I have my own ark, but it's pokemon from the ds games I get wonder traded to me. Some of them are pretty old
im about 60 shinies away from the shiny living dex... working on shiny arceus in bdsp right now. going to need to revisit some old games
I’m working on my own living dex as well! I’m just collecting every named form (excluding Gender Variants), but it’s still amazing to see the results of someone else’s hard work. I’m done with the first five regions as of now, but I’m working on Kalos as well. Do you have my advice?
Advice would ultimately come down to what games you do own, and if you are a stickler for having all the pokemon with your own OT. A majority of my living dex comes from the switch games, with the gaps filled in by my gen 6 and 7 games. If you dont mind the pokemon having OTs that aren't yours, the gts can be really helpful if you can tread through all the ridiculous trades asking for stuff like illegal pokemon.

Yes I did! you can see it in the Legendary & Mythical forms box at around 3:06. Looking back, I maybe should've highlighted it better.

The answer is definitely too many haha. Rough calculations are 850+ hours on just the switch games, 600+ across the 3ds games, and really hard to tell for gens 1-5.
Why would you put pokemon that are so important in pokemon home?
I do it so that I can have them with me in the newer games, letting my original Torterra return to Sinnoh after all these years and even seeing him in legends, being able to actually interact with my other pokemon is something I really enjoy. I also enjoy having a lot of it all in one place as well as the fact that if i want to, I can look at something like my shadow lugia from XD on my phone.
Froslass should be with females?
Froslass is a Pokemon that is only female, and thus, doesn't have any gender differences, so it just gets put in the standard dex section. It's the same as other female only evolutions, like Vespiquen and Salazzle.
I don't want to be a hater, but tbh a regular living form dex isn't much to talk about.
When you do all of that shiny, then it's worth a showing
think the point is to show the all cool different variants and the stories behind it. Them all being shiny isn't necessary, there is always exploits or cheating that can get you shinier anyway
