After years of conflict and isolation, Somalia found itself in turmoil in 2006. During a period of intense drought and subsequent flooding, much of the country was under the control of the Union of Islamic courts, who imposed Sharia law and a new conflict with Ethiopia.
"The gun is the authority here - The AK47", says a displaced Somalian. Yet after 15 years of clan-based fighting, an organisation emerged to exercise law from the country's capital. In 2006, the Union of Islamic courts beat factional fighting out of Mogadishu. Suddenly, foreign food aid began to circulate into and out of the city. A new type of order and security was established. The aims of the Islamic group were far reaching, aiming "beyond peace", and looking to a future of social services that meet the requirements of the thousands of starving and displaced Somalians. But with the country in a critical state after a catastrophic drought and famine, the impending conflict declared with Ethiopia is an ill omen for a wounded population. Whatever the outcome for the fledgling court instigating Sharia law and Jihad, UN humanitarian official Philippe Lazzarini hopes for continued aid: "We really hope if [war] is the case, to allow these people to get necessary assistance, protection, and their human dignity to be respected."

go to the shore or the beach until your feet touch the seawater then stop.
Then turn around and take 30 to 40 steps back towards land then stop.
Then start digging a 5 feet in diameter hole until you reach water. You will not need to dig too far to reach fresh water which is used to be the ocean salt water but it's been filtered by sand and earth.
You can dig as many holes as you can and you will find fresh water as long as it's close to the shore.
Also the farther you are from the shore, the fresher the water and the fresher the water the deeper you had to dig. I'm sad to see your people suffering so much

Islamic Courts Union (ICU) was formed due to anarchy, loss of peace, piracy, disorder, bandits, deaths, distractions, no rule of law, clan based warfare, injustice etc.
While they were in power for six months, piracy and and all of the above ceased to exist and that is the only time Southern Somalia experienced peace and stability. They were violently toppled by the US backed Ethiopian army and the peace is gone forever. That six months was the only peace time in Southern Somalia. This video was taken few days when ICU took control and the author of this video trying to portray wrong image by hiding some facts, you will get more correct information from Google. Since their overthrow, Southern Somalia is most dangerous place on earth till now.
International community/organisation they could have worked with them and let things evolve into normal modern society than to force their choice on Somalis. Still Southern Somalia is experiencing more uglier and difficult time due to this result (Al Shabaab menace and atrocities).

Good work here. Helps explain how people are driven to accept Sharia law, even extreme Sharia law. It promises a stability and order where there is corruption, starvation, and unemployment. Extreme Muslim theocracy (any kind of extremism) creates its own problems; that's for sure; but if you're starving and struggling under a corrupt system or no system, why not opt for the order of a muslim theocracy as preached and organized and ruled by people who speak your language, are the same color you are and understand your culture? That is all good, but Islamic system isn't extreme, even in UAE, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Yemen you have people becoming "extreme" according to you. I hear you mate. However, it is ingrained within their society to have children. From what I have read it is apparently driven primarily by the parents want of cheap labour to work within their smallholding or enterprise. Additionally there is limited access to contraception and medical facilities.

Yes but you're neglecting to mention that the infant mortality rate is much lower in etheopia due to a better health care system. Not only that but for over fifty years now, people in the most impoverished and least educated African nations/regions, have had it driven into their heads by missionaries that it's their religious duty to produce as many offspring as they possibly can... It started with Catholics using most of the continent as a recruiting station to expand their own membership numbers, which they do by preying on the poorest and least educated people they can find, and filling their heads with shit like "you'll go to hell if you use birth control" and "oh don't worry, as long as you're a good little sheep and do everything we say, god will provide for you" and "it doesn't matter how poor you are here, the more you and your children suffer, the happier god will be when you get to heaven".... Which they know damn well those people will adhere to, because quite frankly they don't know any better. Now Islam has moved in and begun siezing control of these places, and they're no better... I'm not saying you're wrong in your assessment, but it's much more complicated than expecting them to just up and stop having kids, when they've spent decades being brainwashed into believing that child rearing is their sole purpose on earth.
Regarding Chinas policy of limiting family size.... that's something of an oversimplification as well, since they're now trying to deal with some unforeseen consequences that have arisen as a result. Namely that as it stands now there aren't enough girls being born to sustain their economy beyond the next generation. In other words, the policy worked so well, that beyond the current generation of young people, there won't be enough babies being born to fill the jobs necessary to maintain their economy, and thus the Chinese government is having to rethink their approach to controlling their population, because the current policy has many economists predicting a complete economic collapse if they don't reverse course.
