- Remember that time a random commenter said they would bet $10,000 that the 1936 Hudson Terraplane would never have a windshield installed... then remember when we decided to wager a double or nothing bet against theirs? Well we're ready to cash in. We have our friend Paul, a professional glass installer, here today to make some templates for the windshield and door glass 😎

Best wishes to Paul and his wife, praying for a speedy recovery and many years of happiness in the future.
couldn't agree more fully William. I stand with you in prayer for Paul and his wife as well.
🙏 Adam and the Smith's also. Prayers sent
Brilliant man
All that knowledge.
Hi Chad & Jolene, I enjoyed watching Paul getting the glass measurements that he needed and I am excited to see the glass go in. I wish Paul the best in his recovery from throat Cancer that is really a scary thing especially for those of us who smoke and can't manage to quit! Chad & Jolene good content and as always a good video, I will be back tomorrow to see what is coming next!
Lay the door glass on the cardboard , that will give you 80% of the shape , The back , bottom and 1/2 of the front . Then it will fit the tracks . You will only have to cut the top to fit around the track where you chopped the A piler ! Good luck Chad ! That chop looks awesome !
That’s mint Jolene orders the parts and knows what to order. Not many girls like that anymore. Way to treat your neighbours too and keeping everyone working and busy and not just about money. East coasters understand what life’s truly about and it’s not just about making money. Right on guys glad to see some normalcy gives me a glimpse of hope, and best wishes for all of you man right on
You're truly Bad, and queen all day . I bleed all day for getting everything done.mad love, even when I can't control interruptions. Taking time off for the fans. Sick because you keep it real. As I do. Cutting the bubble wrap open lol. Just get it done. You know. Keep grinding on and I will keep watching. Adam The KID Rockford 🙏
Paul ( the glass man) sounds like the actor Sam Elliott. He has that distinguish deep sound. Wishing him well on his cancer recovery. And once again Ms. Jolene doing a fantastic job on the video. The car is looking awesome... you keep them videos coming and I'll be watching...❤
I have a question about side mount tire. Looking at the 37 pickup, the side tire is not as high
as yours. Pickup is a car chassis and car shortened and made onto pickup at factory. If possible
could you lower tire maybe two inches or so. Look at a 37 pickup on RUclips and see if you
get the feeling of lowering a bit. If you have the required room for lowering it may look a
lot better...just a thought and input. Car is really looking great and as you say you really like
it and will become a keeper for you. Looooking so good!
not to be critical, but i agree. if you cut the rear part of the cut-out in the fender, this should drop the tire down, and bring it closer to the door line. but i really dig the car. hi jolene.
@@jazzking99 I noticed the same thing looking at some of the 30s Cadillacs. Lower and closer to the door seems like that would do it but maybe Chad sees something inside the fender that won't allow it. Dunno....Love the build though.
It’s looking so good. It’s nice to know that it will have glass that works. Good luck with your recovery Paul. Chad and Jolene please let use know more about the fellow who came to the door. Sounds like an important message he is trying to convey. Thanks👍👍🇨🇦
Superb job on the chop, side skirts, etc. I know beauty is in the eye of the beholder, I just think the side mounted tire takes away from the superb lines of the chop top, etc.
Just a thought- get the original engine running before you pull it. The resale value will be much higher if you do. There are many Hudson people out there who would be more interested in the purchase if they know a bit about the condition of said engine.
If it was a 1940, I would already be on my way there to get it. Good luck and great project.
The glass guy is awesome 👍
I love the patina, fender skirts and everything your creative mind conjures up, great job
Hi Chad, I was scared when you started chopping, but you did a nice job! If you need brake parts Wildrick Rubber Parts has a lot of new parts for Hudsons - master cylinders wheel cylinders rubber hoses and a LOT more. I got parts for my '37 from them and was very satisfied. Those cars are very low geared 4.11or 4.56 rear axle. IMPORTANT: they have a cork faced clutch running in oil which is very durable if maintained properly. Do not run them dry! they take 1/3 of a pint of Dexron3. Ihave run and rebuilt Hudsons since 1971, if I can send you any information just send a message. Best Wishes, Robert
Thats food and gas for a few weeks plus the next build, paint supplys arent cheap either,im about ready for primer and paint, its been 4 or 5 decades since ive held a paint gun,so i hope i can get it right, and congrats on the winfall$$$$$,the poor soul is learning the hard way,the mechanic always right and wins too!!! I tune in your tv show,a learning experience for us mechanix
I hope Bad Chad you get that $10,000 smackaroooos $$,, Plus, you doubled down on it.. I wish Paul many long and healthy years, all the best to him and his wife. More great work Queen Jolene,, Keep on motivating us. I see It's hard for Chad to stand around a weeee bit and watch someone else work on his car. I understand completely..
I ordered a windshield for my 68 and it came from california to missouri. My first glass by mail .
Paul seems to be a very nice guy!
Great video. Best of everything to Paul..I had the Laryngeal Cancer too and went through the whole Chemo and Radiation through June of last year. Couldn't swallow or eat, except through the stomach tube. Not much fun but all is good now. Good to see the glass coming together. Keep up the good work.
You guys are doing great 👍 with the windows patterns. God bless him for beating that throat cancer and I pray it never comes back 🙏🏼. Keep up the great work and God Bless all you guys and your families. 👍 🙏🏼🙏🏼
Glad Paul is on the mend! Give him my regards! My Step-Son went thru throat cancer - everything thru a tube for a while. Everything Paul says about eating & drinking is true!
Who ever try betting him 10,000 dollars, after he put the glasses/windshield on, you better man up and pay...😅😂😅😂
I don’t know what the bet is about the glass. But I know Chad made a lot of promises in the beginning of his channel. He did it to grow his channel and I can’t blame him for wanting to be successful.
We all bend the truth from time to time. Sometimes it’s unintentional, and sometimes not.
In any case, I would love to see proper new glass in this car. Hopefully they can take the time to show us all the windows being rolled up and down, and the garnish moldings installed. A decent job would definitely be a feather in his cap
@@i8ntnuts did he make bets with you, in beginning of his channel..? Or did you make any bets with him in the beginning??
Greetings from Oz 🇦🇺……… that Hudson “Face” is so bloody cool……. looking forward to seeing the finished product…….. always cathartic watching it “happen”.
*To me the glass was always the hardest part of a top chop~It was always the most expensive for sure~Thanks Chad for this video~It really helps:))*
Ain’t that the truth. The glass can be simple and cheap, or very expensive and almost impossible to fit properly. It looks like this car uses all flat class, so it should be a breeze for an experienced glass installer. Another option when planning a chop is to think about laying the windshield back. In some cases, you can tilt the windshield and post assembly back to lower the roof.
Cardboard template to hardboard for final fit and glide test. Most glass places will cut n sand laminated to your templates. Did my 5 wndw for 300 bones😉
I knew you would figure out how to get glass in it. Just want to say hi to you and Jolene and have a blessed night
Looks like Chad wins the bet!
@@harryharry4724 someone bet Chad that he would never put glass in this car. I think it was $10,000
Love watching your process Chad. You and I think a lot alike but you take some paths I wouldn't dream of. You have the vision to see them though. Enjoyed watching the glass guy as well. No idea why you only have 240k subscribers, your content is great. Keep it up!
Always appreciate your time Chad & Jolene Thank you
Man that ole'Terraplane is looking awesome good god this dude is always making it happen.I can't wait to see this one finished!I mean Bc can even make a 4 door look cool 😎 good stuff here .
WOW, JUST GOT DIAGNOSED WITH THROAT CANCER. HOW INSPIRING. GOD BLESS YOU GLASS GUY AND CHADS FRIEND WHO HAD IT. CHAD HAS IT ALL COVERED.
Another fine day of imformitive and enjoyable watching you chad,,I relly enjoy every bit of it, Paul seems to be quite a nice guy too, hi to sweet Jolene an fina too, lov you guys,,👍👍😀
you can see it's Killing chad to watch someone else work at a normal pace.. he really wants to take over at warp speed but was kind enough to just step aside n get outta the mans way..
Very cool that you watched the NCAA women's basketball. You're right, terrific games and individual skill, especially Caitlin Clark. She may be the best shooter in all of college basketball, men or women.
I'm really enjoying and appreciating your skills and approach in tackling this and other restorations and custom builds.
Absolutely the way it would have been done in the past. Amazing to watch you get a light bulb and just run with it.Great how great too be a part of it all. Thanks Jolene and BadChad love ya brother 👍 take care .The man you'll never meet,. Tom,
What a clever guy Paul is, thank you Chad and Jolene...
Coming together soon now the windshield measured up and the other glass , good to see the progress made
I like it all bar the spare wheel sitting on the roof
Love Paul, nice person, hope he heals and has a quality life
I keep looking at the new paint Chad and Jolene mixed up to match the old paint. Man!!!! What a good job. Really good match. Nice job.
If you can not lower tire in mount, would a smaller diameter tire look a bit better?
Actually, that's a good idea. Something like a donut tire similar to what newer cars use, only larger.
I would drive this all day! Rat Rods are the coolest unique cars around. One of a kind and not liked by all. To each his own. I love it and all Chads cars 1000%
Cracked Armour, powerful name and important message.
Kool build. To each his own, but the spares need to drop down deeper in the fender and as someone else suggested all the way down to where door barely has clearance to open. Would really slick it up.
Discovery channel started the repeat of S1 episode 1, this week in the Netherlands, we watched it again, cool how it all started. Stay strong Chad and Jolene, btw your camera work is good as in the series. 👊🏻💥😍
Color mat"h on the fender skirts looks great!
Today proves that Chad and Jolene will have a windshield and side glass. Good lesson on this.
Everyone will be surprised when Jolene video’s a close-up of all the windows, going up and down and showing us how they fit.
Seeing is believing!
Jeep Cherokee power window from rear doors work awesome! I used in my hotrod
A big shout out to Paul for fighting cancer stay strong and thanks for helping Chad and Jolene keep up the great videos
One Step closer to getting this on back to being road ready. You call in the professional to get the glass measured correctly.
The glass man knows what he is doing
Looks good Chad! Awesome chop! I think that is how that cat should have looked in the first place! Thanks for the video!
Dude you never fail to deliver informative and entertaining content! Rock on! And best wishes to Paul for a fast recovery .
All the best to Paul !!!!!! Chad I think you'll win that bet ! 👍
Well alrite Brother Chad congrates on thay bet. ❤ keep up the good work and nice job.
Chad, I don't know how you find all the old timers with all that knowledge they share, but, keep it up. They're getting more scarce every day.😢
That was an easy 10 thousand dollars lol never underestimate bad chad and jolene thanks for sharing
Great job Paul and his Wife Old school Glass Guy God bless him Chad put that Glass back in the BOX
Love these videos!!! Tuning in! Love the work!
All I can say is Boom Baby! 😂😂😂
The Hudson is looking good. I hope you can find someone that can use the stock running gear😀
I would have put the side mount tire on the back continental kit like every one did to their 55fords had one on my 47ford woodie. Till I backed into a tree 🥳
The car is looking amazing so Awesome!!
Put up or shut up time for Mr $10K.
slowly getting there. but looking good
my new favorite channel so glad I found you guys
I see you working of the floor all the time. I use an old ambulance gurney, put a piece of plywood on top, makes a great mobile workbench.
Interesting to see the glass pros do their work. Too bad we spent all that time watching a video that didn't show the installation of the windshield
Glass! I love this car.
Good job on the glass and get well Paul
Spare tire holder looking great awesome art!
Respect to the older gentleman, we tend to take our health forgranted until we start losing it. I am suffering from kidney disease and with I could have my health back!
Wishing Paul a speedy recovery .
Ps: the Skirts are FANTASTIC, really goes well with the Car! 👍🏽🔥
We love jimbo
Chad the spare looks a bit high for my taste. If you like it thats cool to the extreme max.
Hope these guys know, the glass has to be smaller than the opening to allow fit and movement.
Love watching experience and problem solving
I think The glass is 3/8 bigger then the hole where the rubber lands and the division bar that divides the glass is another dimension. If you delete the division bar, the glass is wider and the straight edge of the glass is beveled at an angle to give a nice tight line.
This is a gangster ride. The chopped top, the spotlights, fender skirts, suicide doors, side mounted tires, and being lowered all suggest this. Jolene and you should dress 1930's gangster style and get a couple machine guns. Then pose with the car and photograph the hell out of it.
Make a window fit easy, but Bed Chad I thought you knew how Glass fits inside a seal formed like an H. Well if any doubts before they should be gone by now. Awh I'm little older than Chad, lol learned something new. Loving the Hudson nice work.
Love the car you customize l got a complete Hupmobile the other day. Nobody's much alive that know what they are my 41 plymouth coupe 3.0 DOHC all aluminum comes first. 350 v8 would be easier but that huge aluminum ford v6 is o beautiful engine
My grandpa's first car (when he was a teenager in 1930), was a Hupmobile.
I don't recall what year the car was.
Speedy recovery to you Paul..All the best to you and your wife.
The glass guy reminds me of a gun slinger in a western...
Every day knowledge gets lost. We need to keep that knowledge to continue to build. Thanks
If you all aint figured it out yet this bad low one off custom is going to be chads daily for doing events and banging on doors.
(Best to inquire about old junk when driving one as showing up to a strangers in a suburban people tend to think your there to buglerize them...) this is just my intuition on this ride. Its going to be filthy af once its done
About the side windows. You could place a fixed piece of glass with a side track in the front and cut the other section square.
any chande you can take a look at Paul making the glass for the car, would be a great vid
For glass with rubber just tape 2 SHARP ROUND pencils together when marking templates. Should be 5/16" smaller than metal.
Chad, I gotta tell ya, Paul looked like he was about to tell you to stop helping him.😂
This Car is a Rockabilly Riot ! 🤯🤩👍🏻
Great video thank you very well done thanks again cheers to ya.
Good luck Paul, hope you mend up soon!
I’m watching this episode now. You did an excellent job on this Chop Top! The back side windows look like they could have been that way from the factory! This is going to be a BEAUTY, when you get done. 🔥🚗🤴🏻💯
The back side window should have a rounded edge towards the back instead of going down to a point.....as are all the other windows......my opinion.
Paul seems like a great guy, I want to wish him a speedy recovery.... Hey Paul, grow yourself a mustache and you could be Sam Elliot's brother lol.
I’ve messed with putting a poster under glass and tracing with the pink grinder bits for the dremel on glass and it works
You still have to cut glass but the track for windows is all you need Chad
This will make a great driver for you and your Love
Good job can't wait to see if the guy who bet you pays off😅😊. Jolene great camera work 👍.
When making the front door glass, did you account for the glass sliding back into the pocket before it goes down in the door. The window slides back about an inch or two then goes down.
Just a heads up , don't cut green glass IF the originals in the other windows you are reusing are clear
Paul seems like a guy with not too many words.
I vote to spare carry ,,,,,,,,be parallel with motor hood .It a looks funny with the tire at angle to the car,,,,,,,,,,Take another look,,,,,,,
