I noticed Capuchins and Macaques will communicate with each other through facial features like lip smacking. Do Squirrel Monkeys lip smack too or no? Cause I’ve never seen them do that.
Would a Capuchin groom a Squirrel monkey or the other way around? Just wondering as they seem to get along and I can only think they all act as one troop. Fascinating experiment... Monkeys are great!!! I don't like people who keep them isolated and caged/tied up as pets at home, they need to be in a troop and be free. Monkeys tend to look for backup from the troop when they fight - would both types help each other out in that situation or would a Capuchin only go to another one etc?
They are not acting as if all one big troop . Yes occasionally they will groom each other and no they do not seek back up from the other species during disagreements
Im doing a project on the bahavior and ecology of squirrel monkeys and this is very interesting!! Thanks!
"We've found they like to sleep on large horizontal branches" what as opposed to the skinny vertical ones, what a break through.

Really beutiful enclosure! This is the kind of things I want to see when I visit a zoo.
This is rather interesting to hear. I never knew that these 2 species got along, as I always thought that different species of primates would clash.
Interesting. Thanks!
Aww, how cute. I wonder if they share some form of symbiotic relationship with each other. Have you noticed anything like that?
