The weird blur effect that appears behind cars traveling at speed appears to be Temporal Anti-aliasing. Instead of the ghosting most TAA suffers from, the devs appear to have applied some really terrible motion blur to the TAA instead. If you swap to FXAA, there's some odd shimmering around the bottom of the car, but it's not as eye catching as the BIG BLUR ZONE with TAA enabled.

The story in this version is different from the Netflix version when they introduce Mike Toreno. The Netflix version changed the story slightly when introducing CJ to Toreno, but this version uses the same old story that the original SA uses. The main part I noticed is the Netflix version doesn't have the scene where he grabs and looks at CJ's wallet.
The game is dark because the Contrast is set too high. Contrast: 3/20 and Brightness: 7/10 are my settings. The devs made the gamma way too dark, so its hard to make the game look right.
All they had to do was (follow the train CJ) port the PC version, add the PS2 lighting, up the resolution and that would've been good enough. Running the game files through an AI upscaler, porting it all to a different engine, messing with the models, physics and animations etc... Why make it so complicated? It feels like game devs get more and more incompetent as time goes on.
the graphical engine the og trilogy ran on got killed by EA and is unavailable to use the hard path would've been to do something like re3/reVC and re-write everything from scratch this was the easy choice - the og game is still running underneath, they just threw out the renderer and replaced it with a new one

There's a misunderstanding about that view of CJ: that was already there way back on the original PS2 version and the game was made with the PS2. You could see that sight when on a vehicle like a tractor with the camera in the 'in-car' view. I'm guessing a lot of people never looked back on a tractor in the 'in-car' view before the 'Definitive Edition'. I found it silly when I looked back on a tractor in the in-car view, made me laugh. It's part of the cartoonishness :D .
Was hoping I could comment again about something else. Been watching the video, currently at the San Fierro part, I think it's the high contrast that's making color tones look stronger, think you want to have the contrast adjusted less than the brightness. Just helpin'. :)

That's thing with the cars is something to do with the car models are loaded. They're on like a disk. I've played these games since I was a kid and never noticed but once I've seen it you can't un see it. Sometimes it's more noticeable but this is still a thing with GTA V too that's where my friend pointed it out. However I think it's alot better handled and less apparent in the OG games.
Honestly I think SA's map size is perfect. It's big enough with enough variety that it feels substantial, but not so big that getting around is a chore.
What would I expect from DE can be summarised as "SA map and missions with GTA5 quality". It means the graphics comparable to modern titles, all quality of life features, et cetera. That would essentially require development time compared to what SA took in the first place as you cannot simply port everything into modern engine, I would be really surprised if GTA engines were backwards compatible in some form. So as my dream remake is impossible, some compromises would obviously be needed to be done. Yet what we got stemmed definitely not from this design principle, it was originally a quick face liftup that did nothing to "reimagine old missions". I do not think any amount of patches to the existing DE framework can realistically achieve said goals

This isn't unique to DE and any new Patch. I mean, just do a Starter Save or go to 100% Completion in the game, find these basic facts out. Also written on GTA Wikia and stuff...

So, on Mobile, Gyms are unlocked at the BEGINNING of the game, allowing you do learn all the Moves early on. All other Platforms/Versions, DE included? They are not unlocked until after an early Story Mission is passed first. Want more tiny details? When he was talking about all of the Versions of SA, he forgot those PS4 Ports. They were like the PS2 Version 2, upscaled to 1080p and such, received Patches, and all that jazz.
