Just want to say thanks for being the inspiration for my new life. Now full time van living for the past 3 months in an old Sprinter Van but she's my home. And then... launched a new YT channel. Its that butterfly effect. I just love your constant positivity Buddy, truly you are one of lifes happy people. Plus.... I lived in Lincoln when at college many MANY years ago...
How sad! We have stayed there and probably would never of visited the city without the option of staying over, it’s so nice to sightsee in the day, have a lovely evening meal, a few drinks and a bit of shopping the next morning. Unbelievable lack of insight. Good to see you out and about Mandy ❤
Hi guys thanks for bringing both my city Lincoln and the councils parking issues to the wider audience, if you visit Lincoln again can I ask that you use local buses and Taxis and not Uber, Uber do not have a licence for Lincolnshire and any Uber drivers are coming from outside the area, as far as Birmingham, and killing our local taxi companies, keep up the great videos, all of you, good to see Mandy looking well
I did John and I thank you for travelling that way, I just wanted to let you know for the future what effect Uber is having on local taxi companies, oh by the way love your site too 👍🏻
Got to say though, I know South East do pronounce that weird way, but I’m from Wiltshire (the oldest Anglo Saxon county) and we pronounce it with the harder A (not AR) but draw it out a bit more than northerners, so still not as uncouth! Most of the South West do.
Used to go to the lawns once a month. Always used the Indian opposite and had a pint or two in the pub next door. Real shame, will spend money somewhere else
As a local of Lincoln and as someone who parks up on the lawns nearly every night when working, (and have done for years) I have yet to see anyone motorhome/campervan owners causing a nuisance or behaving in any way that the local council claims. When they say they have received hundreds of complaints about motorhomes on the lawns, I doubt that to be true. Tbf unless there is an event on in the castle, there is only ever about half a dozen or so vans parked there most midweek nights and and not many more cars than that most times either. How they can claim with 100% certainty that littering and anti social behaviour in the Bailgate area is the fault of motorhomes is absolutely absurd. They also claim that motorhomes parked on the lawns are a fire risk and the local authority has not the resources to deal with that eventuality That too is also a nonsense. We have two fire stations, and I doubt they have been called out to a motorhome fire on the lawns carpark ever. Do they have the resources to attend a fire from any other type vehicle parked on the lawns except motorhomes!!!?? Lincoln city council seem hell bent on stopping anyone coming into the area, spending their money and supporting local businesses. They shut the local tourist information centre years ago. They ended the Christmas market which was a gigantic financial hammer blow for local businesses. The local council gets all it's income via taxation and fees, it really has no idea that local businesses don't have that luxury, those local businesses actually need customers, both local and visitors, something the local council can't quite get it's head around. Fortunately there are lots of other park ups in Lincoln, many free and some costing much less than the council car park fees on the lawns. I suspect the quarterwits at the local council think shutting the lawns car park to people staying in their vans overnight will promt people to use the council owned campsite a couple of miles up the road (something they actually suggested on their website when posting this car park will soon stop overnight camping). It won't, it's too far from the centre to tempt most people just passing through, and it isn't that great a site either tbh.
Thanks for the Mouse Hole visit. I just bought a selection online to send to my dad. Update, they sent me a discount and i bought hubby a rainbow box instead of an advent calendar X
great travel vlog with frend john and mandy looks nice place to go to with nice frend s thanks for share thank for share daz keep up the travel vlogs thanks lee
Hi Daz, I use the lawns myself, the issue is we are all breaking fire regs by not being 6m apart. If there was a fire it could spread quickly. However I think the council should address that issue instead of banning it all together. The local businesses are the ones that suffer by stopping the parking. Shame cos it’s a great place to stay.
Yeah I've gotta say mate its just them using it as a H&S excuse, all the shops in the town are connected, if a fire breaks out its not just one that goes up is it, same can be said for cars and I know some will say yeah but motorhomes have gas which they do but John & Mandys don't and more are going gasless so then there just the same as a car. Like I say just an excuse for whatever reason they want motorhomes and campers gone, such a shame.
@ your wrong on this one mate. Google it. My mate whose also a FT MH is an ex fire officer 👮 Keep safe distances between caravans, Motorhomes, tents and awnings To prevent the spread of fire on site, caravans & Motorhome’s should be placed with at least six metres between caravan & Motorhome walls and at least three metres clear of associated equipment and the adjacent caravan.
Love to see you all together 😊 grab me some rum and raisin please 😂❤. Salute shame that places are closing down park ups everywhere. It’s a nightmare even more so now I’ve just got myself a high top brilliant I want go back to my car via Hearst 😂
I'm a northerner living in the south and Im always getting questioned about my pronunciation but I am a northerner, so I'm with John 😂 theres no R in castle :)❤
Sad news another one gone. I’ve said to many groups and councils that we’re 24/7 365 days a year and many of us avoid popular destinations during school summer holidays as it’s chaos Sadly the chair late night BBQ brigade who drive off before 8am to avoid paying parking fees are the minority. It was embarrassing in Scarborough this year with £200,000 plus motorhomes blocking roads and pathways whilst drinking with tables chairs out. The rule is pay the appropriate parking charge and STFU no outside life and enjoy the local amenities Get a room 😂 or campsite if you wanna do that stuff. This 100% will affect motorhome sales and damage local business who welcome our business with open arms Thankfully a lot of pubs with largish car parks are saying woo hoo 😂 “we’re here” I and many of us are avoiding areas with restrictions now But Royal Albert Drive in Scarborough was a mess this year and agree with the ban there I stayed for 6 weeks elsewhere and was constantly moving on to different park ups you wouldn’t even know I was (shock horror) sleeping with my collie (he was just keeping me warm 🙄🚐) I’m autistic I don’t like campsites as they’re full of humans, they just want to talk about toilet fluids and stuff like that. The campsite wardens are like prison guards 😂 I am stealth I look like a mini bus and the life style suits me as I’m a loner All I want is shhhh. Why groups of vans create a city of white chaos is not clear Daz has a lot of good tips on here. If you drive around you can find quiet places. No wonder the councils are kicking off Sorry for rant but listen to king dazzler avoid avoid mass invasion of motorhome owners who haven’t a clue. They’re the reason and so annoying
sadly the staying overnight is becoming a regular thing its now getting to the stage where i am seriously considering travelling less in the uk and spending more time in ireland and europe ,sad for the uk as it means local shopkeepers will be losing the buissness, but the attitude outside of the uk towards travellers seems much more freindly
Hey Daz, this change of overnight parking restrictions really bugs me. We used to stay roughly once a month, unless it was peak holiday season (we live 30 miles down the road and Lincoln is our closest city) so I could get a haircut, have a few pints in the strugglers across the road and sometimes pop over for a gig or meal. The choice to stop overnight sleeping in this car park is so short sighted. The councils reasons and alternative sleeping options also don't make sense. The council have said there is a local council ran camp-site, which I'm sure is very nice (and more expensive) but it's only open 9 months of the year (closed at the beginning of this month before the ban came in), not near the beautiful area of the Lawns Car Park (castle / cathedral etc) and I believe it's around 3 miles away (no use if you want to enjoy the local pubs etc). You were definitely there on a quiet time as the carpark can be full of camping vehicles all around the outside of the carpark, a safety issue according to the council (as they're to close to each other)which could also be resolved by allowing for larger spaces around the outside of the carpark and charging a little more as other councils do (Stratford Upon Avon Sports centre for one comes to mind). The rubbish bins over flowing has also been identified as a problem, well put a few more bins in, it's easily resolved without making the area an eyesore. Anyway, I just wanted you to be aware of all of the "problems" the council are fixing by stopping overnight sleeping at the Lawn Car Park. As you quite rightly said, the people this is going to effect the most is the local shops / companies which gain extra trade from the motorhomes using the Lawn Car Park (I've seen between 10 to 30 there at a time over the last 2 years). Unfortunately the following little tip is probably to late as you wont be returning to Lincoln by the sounds of it just like many other motorhome owners. If you do, there's a wonderful community maintained walled garden tucked away about a 100 foot from where you were parked, accessible through the wall next to the kids park at the Lawns, Dawber Gardens (dawbergarden.co.uk/) is a beautiful place to sit with a morning coffee (or bottle of coke). As you said in the video, hopefully the council decide to change their mind in which case I hop you visit Lincoln again soon.
such a shame about the council changing the parking rules, looked like a perfect overnight city park. The cheese looked banging mate - especially the charcoal one 😋
Sadly there is a bad element of people stopping in vans who think they can do whatever they want. There is a place near me that is popular for vans and it gets abused a lot the council banned overnight parking but its remote so they still stop, so there is now talk of height barriers
Great to see you all in my Manor shame iam not in Lincolnshire anymore and left UK for good to live in Bulgaria uk vanlife is dieing fast 😢 Your welcome to Bulgaria iam building a camper park up 😊
Great to see the 3 of you together.😊 Definitely the southern pronunciation is the right one 😁 What’s up with you youngsters having nap during the day…..lightweights!😂. That’s pants about the car park stopping overnight sleeping, why lose all that extra customer, we’ll sign the petition, I hope other motorhomers that watch this do the same. Needs pressure on these councils to provide affordable overnight stays.
Haha southerners for the win! Fingers crossed they rethink the decision but we all know what councils are like unfortunately. Haha can't be a cheeky little nap!
That really is a shame they are changing the parking restrictions... Those parking spaces bring revenue into the city. On a lighter note though, i remember walking up steep hill when I explored around there after eating a full pizza to myself 😂. Another great video mate 👍
This seems to be happening in so many places now. Such a shame, especially for small businesses aswealwys spend money in the local areas around them. Hope you're well & we shall see you soon ✌️🙏💙
There is going to be nowhere left soon for campers and motorhomes the way things are going. That is a great place to stop too having stayed there a couple of years ago and it was very peaceful. Just wondering what a knock on effect this is going have on the economy in these areas.
We live not far from the lawn and really enjoy seeing all the different motorhomes / vans on our walks the people what park up always friendly , its good for the city but as per usual as soon as our council see anyone enjoying themselves they put a stop to it 😡Lincoln City Council , hope you guys find another place to park when visiting our great City 👍
Greetings to you all. I am thinking that maybe the council are thinking about motorhomes travelling to the city centre and out again causing "traffic problems"(???). Didn't they had Christmas Market at one point and they had to put stop to it because of Health and Safety concerns with those steep cobbles roads (???). Take care ❤
Shocking decision from the council, we live locally, sadly though there are those who always take the pis_, & like Scarborough there were people actually’camping ‘ , chairs & bbq etc. Aires are the way to go imo.
I am a local taxi driver and I park up on the lawns day and night between jobs in the area, have done for many many years. I've never once seen people sat on camping chairs next to their motorhomes. I have seen plenty of locals picnicing on the grass and using the picnic benches provided. I've lost count of how many times I've sat and watched people using the park throwing their litter on the ground and not clearing up their dogs mess. The littering, dog mess and anti social behaviour that I have witnessed has never been carried out by the folk in the motorhomes, and therefore I think it's unfair to blame motorhome users parked there for that.
G'day Daz, can't wait til you get your ass down to Australia, so much to see and do, anything under 6 months is a waste of a trip. Wait til you get a Barra on the end of your line...you'll never be satisfied fishing in the UK again mate.
Ahhhh mate I soooo can't wait to come to Auz, I listen to a Melbourne breakfast radio show most days vis podcast, flipping love you lot over there, where you based? Ohhh 100% I would come for as long as I possibly could for sure. Haha I've heard the fishing out there is awesome!
@@TheUrbanMotorhome I'm in Tasmania mate, some of the best trout fishing in the world down here. Lots of things to see, and food to die for. Western Australia, Queensland and the NT can give you massive ocean fishing experiences, and once again plenty to see, do, and eat. Looks like I'll have to get a new sticker to go beside the old one also. I'll send you an email mate
Agree you should be allowed to stay what a shame. Shops need more visitors otherwise everyone buys online. Would be great if the council spoke to van lifers like you for ideas!
Such a shame the Lawns Car Park is stopping overnight stops, great park up. Lincoln is definitely worth a visit, some great shops and pubs that will miss out by the Council’s poor decision
The Queen's favourite house, the one she thought of as 'home', was Balmoral... Buck House was never hers, it didn't even belong to the Crown, it belongs to the State. She thought of it as an office, just a workplace.
I might understand restricting MH parking during the day, when other vehicles are wanting to use, but then when you only occupy one space what’s the difference? Restricting during the night, when the car parks are empty, and when they are could other wise be making money makes no sense. Why allow parking but not sleeping? We intend to park in no sleeping areas and sit up all night our bed.
@@meanderinginourtime1537 - it’s because of the few that leave a mess or are really noisy and spoil it for everyone else - I live on the coast and theres motor homes the whole length of the promenade, most of them are lovely - but some leave excrement and rotting food in bags, and foxes come along and spread it far and wide…
So you will be able to park the MH overnight but not stay in it. Well come 1am in the morning someone knocks at van. No answer!!! from within(just don't snore ) So it must mean nobody is inside. So no ticket. These local changes to parking restrictions are just not enforceable. Its different if the lights are on and you can be seen in the vehicle. It all comes down to what the restriction states. How can there be a restriction of being in a vehicle overnight. The only enforceable way is "No vehicles overnight. You cannot even have 'No Motorhomes" as many van conversations are still registered as commercial vehicles. So if you do park and pay overnight and by chance you are issued a ticket, you appeal. The enforcement(ie Councel) will need to show that someone was inside the vehicle. If blinds all drawn what evidence can they produce
@@GadgetJohn Indeed any CCTV could be checked. Seems that to the letter of enforcement the CCTV would need to be checked prior to issue of FPN to prove that someone is inside. That will not happen. Ticket issued then appeal. I cannot see the local Council trawling through hours and hours of CCTV. Also According to ICO guidelines, there is no prescribed statutory period for retaining CCTV footage, but it’s generally recommended to keep it no longer than 31 days by SSAIB. SO after FPN issues by the time the appeal is listed the CCTV would not be available. My point is that the authorities bring in these prohibitions but face massive problems to enforce.. Also😀 nice to see you both on the road
Even if they were pushing their hotels rather than motorhomes (pursuing a better class of tourist 😂) you could understand it, but I am basing this on my local council it just seems they want no tourism, I think that is all part of the net zero agenda.
Seems to be a new anti camper council push lately. A few Lincolnshire National Forestry places used to do an overnight stop and seemed no problems but recently all of them got plastered with no overnight camping signs. Guess its a few bad apples in community but also suspect its a non camper element coming at night and littering their fast food containers and doing the racer boy car antics that really are the problem. They wont stop as they don't give a fk about signs.
Coming from not far from you I am obviously a geezer that talks the proppa queens (can't bring myself to update that). This is the first time I ever noticed John and Mandys linguistic disability 😂 we should praise those who do their best when it's not their first language.

Take care ❤
Should’ve looked us up Darren ( met at the MH show ).
If you ever need a park up in Lincs, be sure to touch base.
Regards
Stefan n Dawn
OH got me some stunning cheeses from Carmarthen market yesterday. Can recommend.
Great vid dazza , defo should of took John and Mandy to vesta though 😂😂 Defo castle not carstle 😂😂 see you soon buddy 👍
Hi! I’m thinking about van life. Is it legal to stay overnight at parking space ?
Look at the signs
@@davidfoster9890 Thanks!
Steep Hill ..... the venue for inebriated students resulting in many a serious accident and injury!
Can you do a video of how you fund your travels?.
Such a shame the Lawns Car Park is stopping overnight stops, great park up.
Lincoln is definitely worth a visit, some great shops and pubs that will miss out by the Council’s poor decision
I know right! Such a pants decision it really is, Lincoln is a great place to wander around, such a shame like you say
Seems like UK doesn’t like you travelling or enjoying life these days. It’s complete reverse of Europe.
I know right! Why do we not learn and just seem to make things worse over here at time goes on, baffles me 🤦🏻♂️
Would you have a link to your bathrobe please?
Here ya go John, warning its bloody lovely! 😂😂

I’m sure it’s literally called Steep Hill
John and Mandy are ok, but they're not as sophisticated as us southerners
😂😂 level of sophistication is a whole other conversation 😂
@unadventurousmandy indeed me 🦆
Lovely city
Northern yorkshire pud /york
Bus W@nkers 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Hahaha love it!
Newcassel is the correct way to pronounce Newcastle the posh people say Newcarstel
The Queen's favourite house, the one she thought of as 'home', was Balmoral...
Buck House was never hers, it didn't even belong to the Crown, it belongs to the State. She thought of it as an office, just a workplace.
You're right she did love Balmoral, I went there earlier this year, beautiful place, I could see why she loved it so much, have you been?
And the... £600 just gone in a only one day for a cheese 🙃😉
You thought you were bacon going down that hillside lean back
Haha couldn't believe how steep it was 😂
They say Inverness is where they speak the bust Kings English.
Morning
Your motorhome is listed on ebay mate .. not sure but I'm guessing some scam 🤔👍
How much, and does it come with a tenant.
Hey Daz you missed out on a fun game of cheese rolling down steep hill 🤣🤣
@@meanderinginourtime1537 - it’s because of the few that leave a mess or are really noisy and spoil it for everyone else - I live on the coast and theres motor homes the whole length of the promenade, most of them are lovely - but some leave excrement and rotting food in bags, and foxes come along and spread it far and wide…
there is NO r in castle
They’ve got cctv to monitor, for safety obviously 😔, when you enter & leave your vehicle. So they could use that to backup a parking fine.
🥔
Coming from not far from you I am obviously a geezer that talks the proppa queens (can't bring myself to update that). This is the first time I ever noticed John and Mandys linguistic disability 😂 we should praise those who do their best when it's not their first language.
😂😂
London all day long.capital of our country and we know how to speak. Cheers dazza. Had to say turned off though after a minute prefer your vids as yourself. Not with those two they have there own Chanel and are not what we go on your Chanel for.
That's your call mate, I was just showing a nice park out and trip out with my mates
