Brought back memories your tour, but I remember what Swaffham was like 60 years ago when it had a proper market and an auction which included live stock. The market used to be full of character's, and Abels used to be the auctioneers. The pubs are the only things that havent changed. Iceland was Woolworths and the empty shop just before it used to be one of the best toy shops around.
Thanks for this vid, i grew up in Swaffham my parents owned the petrol garage just outside of Swaffham ( Bridge texaco garage ) i remember the live stock market behind the pub, loved the town but didnt like the over authoritarian school south greenhoe though nothing but bad memories of those teachers. The old railyway cutting that goes from Swaffham to necton use to be our playground. Back in the day my father used to run the Swaffham CB club ( 1980s ) his handle was the peddler. Very fond memories growing up there.
